3/13 WWE Raw in Oklahoma City: John Cena vs. C.M. Punk, Jim Ross serves as guest ring announcer for The Miz vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, John Morrison vs. Alex Riley
Mar 14, 2011 - 04:51 PM

WWE Raw Live Event
Oklahoma City, Okla.
Report by Dot Net reader Justin S.

There was a very basic setup to the ring and the arena. No big entrance stage, pyro, tron, padding on the rails, nothing. We were fourth row and felt very close to the action.

1. Mark Henry and R-Truth defeated William Regal and Tyson Kidd. R-Truth started the show to a decent reaction from the crowd. Got to the ring and the fans harassed him a little bit about being in Oklahoma City. Mark Henry came out as his partner for a tag match against William Regal and Tyson Kidd. The match went slow to start but Regal and Kidd got a lot of fan reaction for their antics. At one point, Kidd was hugging Regal's legs. Eventually, Mark Henry pinned Regal with a Worlds Strongest Slam.

2. Sheamus defeated Yoshi Tatsu. Yoshi's music started and Sheamus came out and attacked Tatsu before he got to the ring. Sheamus threw him into the ring and proceeded to destroy him in about a minute. Sheamus hit the Irish Curse and that was that. Then he got on the mic and said that since he won the King of the Ring, he's been on a losing streak. He "vowed" to change it. He stated that the King is dead--long live the Celtic Warrior. So, we took that to mean that they're done with the King schtick and maybe will bring his character back from the purgatory he's been in for months.

Natalya came out for a "special surprise" and asked who is host of Wrestlemania, which, of course started "Rocky" chants. Asked a little boy, who got it right, and was the guest bellringer for the next match, Alex Riley vs. John Morrison.

3. John Morrison beat Alex Riley. Riley comes out and got a better than we expected reaction from the crowd, got on the mic and said that he needed to win his match tonight and he would then be on the Raw roster and that he's capable of success by himself and that he doesn't need the Miz. Made some comment about going "A Ri" (we took in context to be "awry"). Morrison came out and the crowd gave him a HUGE reaction. The match lasted about five minutes or so and ended with Morrison getting the Starship Pain for the win.

(Side note, we were four rows from the ring, and there were multiple times that we could hear Alex giving instructions to John and the ref. Told the ref to come in between him and Morrison at one point. He's going to need to get that cleaned up to succeed in WWE.)

4. Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov defeated The Uso Brothers. Next was a tag match. Santino's music hit as he and Kozlov came out with Tamina. Not as big of reaction as I would have expected, but it was decent. The Uso's came out to a bunch of yawns. This match was very long. I didn't check the time, but if it was less than 20 minutes, I'd be surprised. Exceedingly long and drawn out. Nothing of significance occurred in the match, although, Santino was in for about ten minutes at one point just getting worked over. Toward the end, Jimmy Uso was outside the ring and Santino threatened the Cobra while Tamina was behind him and he ran right into her as she flipped him over. Santino finally hit Jey with the Cobra and all was right as rain.

Jim Ross was advertised for the show as he always is and came out to be the special guest ring announcer for the next match.

5. The Miz defeated Randy Orton to retain the WWE Championship. Miz vs. Orton for the title. Randy's music hit and the place went nuts.  Very good reaction for Orton, as well as the Miz. Good match. Toward the end, Miz got out of the ring and headed back to the dressing room. Orton chased him down and brought him back. On the way back, Riley came down with his briefcase and stayed at ringside until the end. Back in the ring, eventually there was an RKO tease that resulted in Miz pushing Orton toward the rope and Riley popping him in the back. Then a Skull Crushing Finale for the Miz for the win. After the match, Miz and Riley took turns beating on Orton and Riley brought in a chair. Orton RKO'd them both and then went to shake Jim Ross hand.

Intermission.

6. Eve, Gail Kim, and Tamina defeated Maryse and the Bellas. The Raw GM texted that there was to be a dance off first. Eventually, Eve pinned a Bella (I think Nikki).

7. Daniel Bryan defeated Evan Bourne and Ted DiBiase in a Triple Threat to retain the United States Championship. Next was a Triple Threat match for the US Championship. Evan Bourne came out and got a great reaction. Then Ted DiBiase came out. Then Daniel Bryan. Real good match and Ted did a decent job working the crowd to start. Bryan and Bourne, of course, teamed up on DiBiase and eventually, Ted left the ring for a bit to allow Bourne and Bryan to go at it. Really funny moment came as Bryan hit a sunset flip onto Bourne.

As Ted came back in the ring, from the finished sunset flip position, Bourne and Bryan rolled around the ring in a series of reversals while Ted dove for them repeatedly. Bourne hit Air Bourne on DiBiase for a near fall, DiBiase then tried to apply Dream Street or Million Dollar Dream or whatever you want to call it, to Bryan, who then reversed it into the LaBelle Lock for the win. Sheamus came back and attacked Bourne, then DiBiase, then Bryan and said that he will win the US Championship on Raw or he'd quit.

8. John Cena defeated C.M. Punk (w/Mason Ryan). Punk came out to big heat and Mason got on the mic to gibber out some Welsh. Punk said that for those of us who don't speak Welsh, he said that CM Punk was great, blah blah. Then he said that he loved OKC because it's where he won his first World Title and it's where he's going to live when he retires. Then Cena's music came and the roof came off the place.

By far the loudest pop of the night. The match started slowly and eventually picked up. Nothing significant throughout the match until near the end, when Punk went for the GTS which Cena reversed into a STF for the win, but Miz came and attacked Cena. As Miz is beating on Cena, Punk was recovering and then Orton came down to attack Punk. Orton RKO'd Punk, Cena AA'd Miz and that was it.

The heels left and Cena and Orton stayed in ring to please the crowd. As Orton was starting to leave, Cena stopped him. They shook hands, then went and made the rounds with the fans at ringside. Cena left pretty quick, but Orton went all the way around the ring and stopped to take a picture...with my girlfriend. So, her night was perfect. All in all, good show.

Biggest pop
Cena (easily)
Orton
Morrison

Biggest heat
Punk
Miz
Sheamus
