11/9 WWE Raw in London: Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett for the WWE Championship with Bret Hart as special ringside enforcer, John Cena vs. The Miz, more on William Regal teasing retirement
Nov 10, 2010 - 05:13 PM

WWE Raw Live Event
London, England at the O2 Arena
Report by Dot Net reader Josh Glover

The show started at about 19:40. The arena was pretty much full. Just the top teir seats had a couple of empty gaps. Justin Roberts welcomed us all and the show began with normal announcements and Pyro.

1. Mark Henry defeated Zack Ryder. Henry had the crowd in the palm of his hands. He got the win via the ‘Worlds Strongest Slam.' He did his arm raising routine, and it was a good match to start the show.

2. Vladimir Kozlov and Santino Marella defeated The Uso’s. As with the other UK live events, the anonymous general manager ordered a dance off, which the Uso’s interrupted mid way. Finish was the ‘Double Cobra.'

3. Ezekiel Jackson defeated Alex Riley. The crowd wasn’t really into this. Very slow. Jackson won via his normal finisher.

4. Ted DiBiase defeated Yoshi Tatsu. Not a bad match. There were some good reversals from Tatsu. DiBiase got the win with the Dream Street (after a couple of failed attempts). On a side note, DiBiase really isn’t getting over with the crowd. There was nothing wrong with the match at all, it was just that no one really cared.

5. Randy Orton fought Wade Barrett to a no-contest in a WWE Championship match with Bret Hart as the ringside enforcer. Barrett cut a good promo about how the last time he was at the o2 Arena he told the whole world that there were ‘winds of change’.... and look what's happened. He ran through what he had achieved and where John Cena is now. The match began, but Sheamus interfered which led to John Morrison coming down to make the save. The GM then ‘sent’ a message to Justin Roberts to tell him that it was now a tag match.

6. Randy Orton and John Morrison defeated Wade Barrett and Sheamus with Bret Hart special guest ring enforcer. Very good match. They had many false finishes and had people on the edge of their seats. The crowd was really into it. Morrison got the win with a ‘Starship Pain’ (which he completely missed).

(Intermission) Justin Roberts and Gail Kim gave out t-shirts and the next tour dates where announced.

7. Melina and Eve defeated Maryse and Tamina. Not much to say on this average diva match with botched moves. Melina won with a lot of screaming and her normal finisher.

8. Daniel Brian defeated R-Truth and William Regal to retain the U.S. Title. This was the match of the evening in my opinion. They all worked really well together and pulled off an amazing match. Brian won via his version of the crossface, which the crowd was not pleased about. Daniel Brian had quite a bit of heat throughout the match.

After the match, Regal cut a good promo about this possibly being his last tour. The crowd booed at first, however, he turned it into a standing ovation. If he is hanging up his boots, I hope WWE sends him off in style.

9. John Cena defeated The Miz (w/Alex Riley). Before the match, Miz cut a fantastic heel promo which lasted around 10 minutes. The crowd was really giving him some grief! Miz kept trying to do his catchphrase but wanted silence. He got a chair and sat on it in the middle of the ring whilst Riley lay down beside him. John Cena then ran in and the match started. Not a bad match, Miz looked really good against Cena and was dishing out most of the offense. Half way through the match, it was 50/50 reaction for Cena and Miz.

The normal kids with Cena and adults for Miz. A cool spot with the steel stairs happened where Miz stood on the steps up on the ramp and threw Cena into them. Cena eventually won with The AA after Miz accidently hit Riley with the brief case. My only complaint about this match was it was very slow. I wouldn't’ be surprised if they where told to go slow as there were 50 minutes of show time left when the match started.

On a side note, ‘The AA’ in the UK is one of the most recognized Breakdown Cover and Car Insurance companies. It’s always funny when you hear someone on WWE TV call the move! Overall, quite a good event. Disappointed there was no Nexus – but that was about it. Everyone seemed to go home happy!
