9/18 WWE Super Show in St. Louis: The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan for the U.S. Title, The Hart Dynasty vs. The Uso Brothers for the WWE Tag Titles, C.M. Punk vs. Kofi Kingston, Melina vs. Alicia Fox for the Divas Championship

WWE Super Show live event
St. Louis, Mo.
Report by Dot Net reader Chad Killion

Tony Chimel handled ring announcing duties for the evening and welcomed us to the show. Normally for house shows they never have an entrance set up, but for this event they actually had some LED color change bars and truss around the entrance. Nothing super fancy but it was a lot better then nothing. They could've turned the house PA volume up a little more.

First out was John Morrison, then came Ted DiBiase with Maryse. Ted cut a promo saying how much better he was then everyone and how we work for pennies while he just sits back and makes millions. Before the match got started we heard the GM chime. Tony announced he received an email from the Raw general manager stating that he wanted to give Ted another shot at a dance-off and that he and Morrison would compete in one right now. The live crowd would be the judges. Ted and Maryse danced around like idiots in a nightclub. Then Morrison did some breakdancing and the worm! Your winner of the dance-off, John Morrison.

1. John Morrison over Ted DiBiase. Then they actually had a match. Ted got in some early offense but Morrison countered with a kick to the face setting Ted up for Starship Pain. Morrison nailed it. Very short match.

After the match Nexus immediately hit the ring. Barrett told Morrison that they were going to let him walk out unscathed because they weren't here for him. Morrison took a cheap shot at a couple of the guys then split. Nexus got booed out of the building. Wade cut a great short but effective promo setting up tonight's four-on-four tag match main event. He said that Evan Bourne, Big Show, Randy Orton, and John Cena may have to consider retiring early after tonight.

2. Melina defeated Alicia Fox to retain the Divas Championship. Alicia took cheap shots on Melina before the bell rang. Then the match began. Fox simply cannot wrestle. I lost count of how many times she was messing up moves and spots. Melina hit the Sunset Split.

The Bella Twins came out to find a special guest bell ringer for the next match.

3. The Hart Dynasty defeated The Uso Brothers to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship. Even though I have seen this match multiple times, they still find ways to make it good every time. Lots of great unique offense from both teams. When things turned to chaos towards the end of the match Natalya got involved and scoop slammed one of the Usos on the outside floor! David Hart Smith locked in the sharpshooter afterwards to get the win via submission.

4. Kelly Kelly beat Layla to retain the WWE Women's Championship. I was very disappointed that they gave us two women's matches instead of something else. I'll explain later. When LayCool came out, it wasn't to their usual music. I wonder if this is foreshadowing that Layla will be on her own after Night of Champions. Kelly Kelly hit them both with a huge silver blowup ball before the match began. The crowd chanted boring and booed and finally the match began. Kelly Kelly can't wrestle either. I didn't really pay attention to this one. Layla hit the Lay-Out. Winner by pinfall, Layla.

5. Kofi Kingston defeated CM Punk. Punk cut a great promo before the match calling us fair-weather fans. He said that we all used to cheer for him but now we boo him even though he never did anything to deserve it. He said we used to praise him for being drug free and now we look to guys like Kofi Kingston instead. Kofi made his way to the ring and the match was underway.

Punk taunted Kofi by doing his "boom boom boom" hand clap. HILARIOUS! I expected more out of this match with these two but instead it turned out to be a lot of rest holds. Punk's storytelling truly made this match. He even went for the boom drop (shoulder dance and all) but missed. Kofi hit him with the SOS but Punk kicked out! He tried to set Kofi up for the GTS but Kofi countered and hit Trouble in Paradise. Winner by pinfall, Kofi Kingston.

Bella Twins came out again to promote merch and lead us into intermission.

6. The Miz beat Daniel Bryan to retain the United States Championship. The Miz came out and of course got on the stick. Really funny stuff. He said we are all just losers who work at McDonalds and 9-5 jobs. He trashed the Rams and Cardinals and said that Saint Louis is the worst city he's ever been too period. He spotted a fan wearing a Chad Ochocinco jersey and ripped into him. He kept trying to do his catchphrase but had to keep telling the crowd to shut up because we're not allowed to do it with him. On his last attempt Daniel Bryan's music cut him off and he made his way to the ring.

This was hands down the match of the evening. Both The Miz and Bryan were on fire tonight. The action never seemed to slow down even with all the submissions. The Miz actually locked Bryan into about three or four himself! Toward the end Daniel Bryan set Miz up for a top rope hurricanrana but Miz shoved Bryan off causing him to rack himself on the top rope. The Miz then hit the Skull Crushing Finale.

7. The Undertaker defeated Kane via DQ in a World Heavyweight Championship match. Undertaker got a huge ovation when his music hit. There were lots of people taking pictures during this match. Undertaker got the upper hand right when the bell rang. The action went to the outside very quick and remained there for a majority of the match. Undertaker kept rolling in and out of the ring to reset the 10 count.

I imagine this is what there match is going to be like at Night of Champions since it's no holds barred. When they got back into the ring, Kane hit some of his usual offense. Then Undertaker grabbed Kane by the throat to set up a chokeslam but Kane grabbed the Undertaker's throat and hit him with a low blow. Winner by disqualification, The Undertaker.

After the match Undertaker grabbed Kane by the throat again and chokeslammed him. He was waiting for Kane to get up but Kane quickly rolled out of the ring and left leaving Undertaker to celebrate.

8. The Big Show, Evan Bourne, Randy Orton, and John Cena defeated The Nexus in an elimination tag. Nexus came out first and then Big Show came out afterward to clear the ring making way for the other three members of his team to come out. Evan got a great hometown reception and so did Randy Orton. When John Cena came out the place went so crazy you couldn't even here his music. After everyone was out the GM chime hit. Tony announced to the crowd that the Raw GM has made this match a 5 on 4 and it would be elimination style.

Big Show got tons of offense in on Nexus at the beginning. Then Heath Slater came in the ring with a chair but Big Show knocked it away. Big Show then grabbed it and went to the Nexus corner swinging it. The ref tried to pull him back but Big Show shoved him away. Big Show was eliminated via disqualification.

Evan Bourne was in with David Otunga. Evan hit some crazy offense including a standing moonsault. He then hit Otunga with Airbourne. David Otunga was eliminated by pinfall.

Immediately after that Heath Slater hit Evan with some kind of move that I didn't hardly see. Evan Bourne was eliminated by pinfall.

Cena and Tarver in. Cena almost immediately hit him with an attitude adjustment. Michael Tarver eliminated by pinfall.

Justin Gabriel came in and hit a lot of his high flying stuff. He set Cena up for the 450 but missed. Cena then locked Justin in the STF. Justin Gabriel eliminated by submission.

Wade Barrett then went to work on Cena big time. The match kind of slowed down at this point but finally Cena made the hot tag to Orton bringing him in for the first time in the match. Orton immediately hit Heath Slater with an RKO. Heath Slayer eliminated by pinfall.

Then almost immediately again Randy hit Wade Barrett with an RKO. Wade Barrett eliminated by pinfall.

Here are your winners, John Cena and Randy Orton. Orton and Cena had a huge staredown afterwards, but then they shook hands. Cena left the ring leaving Orton to soak in the cheers of his hometown.

I could have definitely done without two divas matches, though. No Dolph Ziggler the Intercontinental Champion, but we get Kofi? And no Sheamus, Edge, or Jericho? We had a World Championship match. They could've easily made a triple threat match for the WWE Title involving the three previously mentioned superstars. Overall, a decent show though.
