9/4 WWE Smackdown in Binghamton, N.Y.: Kane vs. Big Show for the World Hvt. Championship, Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Drew McIntyre for the Intercontinental Title, Alberto Del Rio vs. Chavo Guerrero

WWE Smackdown house show
Binghamton, N.Y.
Report by Dot Net reader Aaron Waymire

I just got back from the Smackdown house show in Binghamton, NY. Not one of the better attended shows that I've been to. I'd say maybe 2,500 or so there. Still, the crowd was good all night.

1. Christian defeated "Dashing" Cody Rhodes with the Killswitch. Cody got on the mic before the match and asked if we thought Christian was good looking. Of course, he thought he was much more handsome. Good match in that Rhodes hit the Alabama Slam but Christian kicked out before hitting his finisher to win.

After the match, Alberto Del Rio ran in and laid out Christian. He then got on the mic and said he should be the one who challenged Kane for the World title tonight. He was also upset that he had to settle for wrestling Chavo Guerrero instead.

2. Alberto Del Rio defeated Chavo Guerrero with a Rolling Cross Armbar. Chavo was the face for this match. He got in some good offense and even hit the Frog Splash. Del Rio had good heat, and his finisher looks pretty cool.

3. JTG defeated Tyler Reks with a Spinning Headlock Clothesline. I'm guessing not many people knew who Reks was. In fact, I had to look him up when I went home because I couldn't quite hear who Tony Chimel said. Not much to the match. Finish came out of nowhere.

4. Jack Swagger defeated Chris Masters in a "Ankle Lock vs. Master Lock Match" with an Ankle Lock. Masters has pretty much fallen off the face of the Earth. He tried to get that darn Master Lock on time and time again, but couldn't. Swagger reversed another attempt at it into an Ankle Lock for the win.

5. Matt Hardy and R Truth defeated CM Punk and Luke Gallows when Truth hit Gallows with a Corkscrew Flying Forearm. Before the match, Punk made Gallows get down on his knees and apologize for what happened on the last Smackdown. Not sure why Truth was there considering he's a Raw guy, but maybe it's a sign of things to come. Good tag match that saw Hardy get worked over for awhile before making the tag. Afterward, Punk slapped Gallows a few times and Gallows almost snapped before they hugged. Punk then hit the GTS and left him laying.

6. Dolph Ziggler defeated Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston in a Triple Threat match to retain the Intercontinental Title when Ziggler pinned McIntyre after Kingston hit Trouble in Paradise. Kofi got a nice pop when he came out. Ziggler ripped into the crowd a bit before the match. Good action from these three, which was expected. End came when Kingston nailed McIntryre with Trouble in Paradise, but Ziggler tossed Kingston out of the ring so he could make the cover for the win.

7. Kelly Kelly and the Bellas defeated Layla, Jillian Hall, and Rosa Mendes when Kelly hit Mendes with a Rocker Dropper. This was some sort of a beach theme because all of the ladies had on bikini tops. So basically, we were all winners. Again, not sure why the Bellas were there, but maybe Truth gave them a ride. No sign of Michele McCool, so perhaps she was with her man. The end came when the Bellas distracted the other ladies with water guns. Yes, water guns. Kelly hit her finisher for the win.

8. Kane defeated Big Show to retain the World Hvt. Championship. Kane won by using a steel chair with a distraction by CM Punk. Show got the biggest pop of the night. The crowd was really into him. Pretty slow match with Kane working on Show's leg. Ref got squashed on a reserve whip into the turnbuckle. Punk came out and handed Kane a chair. Kane used it and another ref came down to count the pin. Once Kane left, Show had Punk in the ring, and Punk convinced Show to shake hands. They did, but Show then nailed him with the right hand. Punk took a good five minutes to leave the ring as everyone left.

Overall, a pretty good show for a house show. Nothing major happened, but I didn't expect there to be anything major. Good to see all three champions there.
