8/28 WWE Smackdown in Bethlehem: Kane vs. Big Show in a cage match for the World Hvt. Championship, MVP vs. C.M. Punk, Alberto Del Rio, Christian, Layla vs. Kelly Kelly for the WWE Women's Championship
Aug 30, 2010 - 09:39 AM |
WWE Smackdown house show
Bethlehem, Pa.
Report by Dot Net reader Johnny Rosado
1. Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov defeated Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer by pinfall. Santino and Kozlov won when by pinfall after Santino hit his finisher for the win.
Alberto Del Rio cut a promo about how he injured Rey Mysterio on Smackdown. He stated that he would take on Chavo Guerrero later on in the night.
2. Christian Defeated Tyler Reks by pinfall. Christian won when he hit Reks with The Killswitch. Reks dominated most of the match with power moves until Christian hit his finisher. Christian was a crowd favorite.
3. Layla defeated Kelly Kelly to retain the WWE Women's Championship by pinfall. Layla came to the ring with half a WWE Women's Title. She spread some sort of hair spray or air freshener in the air because she said Kelly Kelly Stunk. Funny stuff. After the match a kid in the front row gave Kelly Kelly a dozen flowers. She hugged him and said thank you.
4. The Great Khali defeated The Dudebusters ( Caylen Croft and Trent Barreta ) in a two-on-one handicap match by pinfall. It was a squash match. A few funny moments here and there. One being when Barreta refused to take the tag from Croft after Khali chopped Croft in the corner three times.
5. C.M. Punk defeated MVP by pinfall. C.M. punk cut a promo before the match about how in 2007 when he was in Bethlehem the fans cheered him but now they boo him. He stated that he's still the same guy. He still doesn't drink, smoke or do drugs. He said that we've changed not him. He said that he's better than all of us, because he doesn't doesn't drink, smoke or do drugs.
Punk continues to be one of the best promo guys in WWE. He came to the ring solo. No signs of The SES. When MVP entered he cut a promo bout how in 2007 his catchphrase was "I better than you" and said that Punk was so original. MVP also said that Punk is boring and that he's rather stay with his VIPs partying, drinking and having a good time.
At the being of the match Punk refused to fight standing in between the ropes and going to the outside. Lots of back and forth action. MVP played to the crowd by doing his "Ballin" taunt. He hit a few outside dives on Punk. Punk mostly used rest holds. (Headlocks) MVP went for The Play Maker but it was reversed in The G.T.S. Cm Punk Won by pin fall.
6. Alberto Del Rio defeated Chavo Guerrero by submission. Very technical match. Headlocks, arm bars and arm drags were the many moves performed in this match. Chavo hit The Frog Splash. The crowd including my self though Chavo had it won but Del Rio grabbed the ring ropes at the two and a half count. Alberto hit his spinning arm breaker for the win. Seeing this move on television doesn't give it justice. It is sick live. Del Rio drew major hit earlier with his promo and the win against Chavo gave him even more heat. He is a future main event star.
7. Kane defeated Big Show to retain The World Heavyweight Championship in a cage match by pinfall after C.M. Punk interfered. Punk threw in a chair that Kane hit Show with, which led to Kane getting the pin. Afterward, Kane left but Punk stayed behind to try and hit Show with the chair. Big Show got up and punched the chair in Punk's face and hit The choke slam. The show ended with Punk laying in the middle of the ring while Show signed autographs in the crowd.
Biggest Heat:
1. Cm Punk
2. Alberto Del Rio
3. Kane
Biggest Pop:
1. Big Show
2. Christian
3. Santino
