7/31 WWE Smackdown in Sydney: Title change announcement (spoiler for Friday's WWE Smackdown television show), The Hart Dynasty vs. Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury for the Unified Tag Titles, MVP vs. Cody Rhodes
Jul 31, 2010 - 10:53 PM

WWE Smackdown house show
Sydney, Australia at Acer Arena
Report by Dot Net reader Lachlan Smith

Tony Chimel came out and announced that Dolph Ziggler was now intercontinental Champion and would be defending it against Kofi Kingston tonight.

1.The Hart Dynasty(w/Natalya) defeated Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury to retain the Unified Tag Titles. Natalya is gorgeous in person. Excellent opener. The SES got loads of heat and the Harts (especially Tyson Kidd) got a John Cena reaction (without the boos). Some very good spots from the Harts, who won after DH Smith made Mercury tap to a Sharpshooter.

Post-match, Kane chokeslammed everyone and said that rey mysterio had attacked taker.

2. MVP defeated Cody Rhodes by pinfall. MVP got the most cheers he's ever had, as this crowd was great. Cody kept leaving the ring and the annoying kids behind me, whom never stopped saying "youre a chicken!" MVP won with the Play of the Day (paydirt).

3. Alberto Del Rio defeated Chavo Guerrero via submission.Del Rio got no reaction at all until his Spanish promo, which got him killer heat, and Chavo loads of cheers. Del Rio won with an armbar after chavo missed the frog splash.

4. Layla defeated Kelly Kelly to retain the WWE Women's Championship. Bathroom break, uh, I mean Divas time. Layla won by pinfall. This house show was amazing, as the divas (a) put on a good match, (b) got a great crowd reaction, (c) are hot!!!! Layla kicked out of the K2 and shortly thereafter hit the Lay Out for the win.

5. Big Show defeated Drew McIntyre by pinfall. Show is absolutely huge and dominated the match. Pre-match, McIintyre fled from the ring and show grabbed a mic and said to "geet yoor aaaass oot here so I cenn kick it" in an awesome Scot impression. Show won with the KO punch after a failed Futureshock DDT.

Intermission

6. Matt Hardy defeated Christian by pinfall. Match of the night by far. Unfortunately, I missed Matt's entrance. Cool spots from both men, who hit loads of cool moves and signatures. There were great nearfalls and extreme moments. Matt won with a Twist of Fate.

7. Dolph Ziggler defeated Kofi Kingston to retain the Intercontinental Title by pinfall. I guess this means Dolph will win on Smackdown. This was another awesome match, but it was all Kofi. Dolph won after Kofi dodged a Zig Zag, as he then rolled Kofi up and grabbed the ropes.

8. Kane defeated Jack Swagger and Rey Mysterio to retain the World Heavyweight Championship by pinfall. Swagger immediately left the ring and Rey got creamed. From there it was all signatures and finishers. Swagger hit a corner splash on both men then Rey got chokeslammed.

Later, Rey set both men up for a 619 but went for Swagger, who countered into an ankle lock. Kane broke it up but found himself in an ankle lock. The submission was next to the ropes and Rey got up and 619'd Swagger as he had Kane in an ankle lock. He followed up with the splash but Kane tossed him to ringside and pinned Swagger. Post-match, Kane went to chokeslam Rey but got a 619 for his troubles.

Overall, it was a great show.

Most Heat
1. Jack Swagger
2. Gallows and Mercury
3. Cody Rhodes and Alberto Del Rio

Most Cheers
1. Rey by far. he gets more cheers than Cena
2. Kofi Kingston
3. Big Show
