WWE Raw live event
Cornwall, Ont.
Report by Dot Net reader Justin Cousineau

On a whim, I purchased tickets for WWE's live event last night in Cornwall, Ontario. Despite dismal attendance (estimated 800), everyone worked very hard, and produced a very entertaining show. The Bella Twins were announced as the special guest ring announcers for the evening.

1. Brodus Clay (w/Ariane Andrew) defeated Michael McGuillicutty. Brodus won with a running splash.

2. Eve defeated Kelly Kelly with her feet on the ropes. Both girls worked very hard, and wrestled a match much longer than any recent divas TV or PPV match.

3. Xavier Woods (a/k/a Consequences Creed) defeated Curt Hawkins. Woods won with a DDT from the top rope. Woods had incredible energy, and worked very hard to impress the fans.

4. WWE United States Champion Jack Swagger defeated R-Truth with a gutwrench powerbomb. Prior to the match, a local boxing star was introduced to the live crowd. After the match, Swagger hooked Truth in the ankle lock, and the local boxing star entered the ring to get him to break the hold. This led to Truth hitting Swagger with a move reminiscent of the Pay Dirt.

5. Chris Jericho defeated Kofi Kingston. Jericho won with the Codebreaker.

6. WWE Tag Team Champions Epico and Primo (w/Rosa Mendez) defeated Santino Marella and Mason Ryan. The champs won when Epico hit Ryan with a backstabber. Santino is a local favourite, as he spent a lot of his independent wrestling days in Cornwall.

7. John Cena defeated Kane in a No Disqualification match. Cena won with the Attitude Adjustment. Lots of outside the ring brawling, using the ring stairs, a chair, and the house mic.

8. CM Punk defeated Dolph Ziggler to retain the WWE Championship. Punk won the GTS. By far the match of the night. You could tell these two were having a blast working with each other. Chris Jericho was named the special outside ring enforcer. Ziggler pushed Punk into the referee near the end of the match, knocking the referee outside of the ring. Shenanigans ensue, as Jericho refuses to count after CM Punk hits Ziggler with a GTS. This leads to Jericho hitting Punk with a Codebreaker, and slowly dragging Ziggler on top. Punk kicks out, recovers, and chases Jericho out of the ring. This leads to a second GTS, and the original referee counting the three.

Notes: Overall, a fun show to attend. I wouldn't be surprised to see Xavier Woods called up in the near future. Great energy, and unique offense. The new house show set is an interesting addition, but the audio in the building was absolutely terrible, so that distracted from the experience. I purchased 5th row floor seats the day of the event from Ticketmaster.ca. They did not announce a return date, and judging by the attendance, it might be a while before they return. We bumped into Eve at a restaurant after the event. She was very friendly, and absolutely breath-taking in person. I later read on Twitter that the airport lost her luggage. Poor girl.

Biggest Pops
1) John Cena
2) CM Punk
3) Santino/Chris Jericho

Biggest Heat
1) Kane
2) Jericho (once he turned the crowd)
