WWE Raw house show
Charlottesville, Va.
Report by Dot Net reader Michael Yoen
The arena was maybe 70 percent full. Lots of kids, mainly in Cena/DX shirts.
1. Mark Henry over Jack Swagger. Basic opener, nothing too good or bad.
2. Melina and Eve Torres defeated Maryse and Jillian Hall. Kind of sloppy and one blown spot. Maryse isn't much in the ring, but has great presence at ringside.
3. Sheamus beat Primo. Short and a total squash.
4. Chris Masters defeated Alex Riley. No one knew who Riley was.
5. Santino pinned Carlito. Mainly comedy.
Intermission
6. Miz defeated. Evan Bourne to retain the U.S. Championship. A really good match and Bourne was the hardest worker on the show. Miz got his knees up when Bourne went for the shooting star press, and then pinned Bourne with the stroke.
7. HHH and Kofi Kingston defeated Legacy. The ending saw Legacy get the upper hand, then Hornswoggle came out and hit Sweet Chin Music on Cody's knee (which he no sold). However, the distraction allowed HHH to hit the Pedigree and Kofi to hit his spinning kick for the double pin.
8. John Cena pinned Randy Orton to retain the WWE Championship. Typical good match between the two, even though you can pretty much call all the spots. This was the only match with really sustained heat throughout. Orton went for the punt, missed, and Cena turned it into Attitude Adjustment for the pin.
The first half of show was brutal, but the main event was good. The crowd went home happy.
