1/26 Twilling's WWE "ECW on Syfy" Live Coverage: Christian and Kane vs. Ezekiel Jackson and William Regal, final ECW hype for the Royal Rumble
Jan 26, 2010 - 09:00 PM

WWE "ECW on Syfy"
Taped earlier tonight in Cincinnati, Oh.

[Q1] The opening video aired and fireworks lit up the stage. Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton welcomed us to the show. William Regal stood in the middle of the ring and introduced the next ECW Champion, Ezekiel Jackson. Jackson said Christian had five days left with the championship and he would no longer be the champion after the Royal Rumble.

Christian came out and said he was biblical, heck, he was Christian. Christian had a new t-shirt on. Zeke said Christian had never face anyone like him before. Christian agreed, but he looked forward to facing him at the Rumble. Christian said he was double teamed last week, but he even scored the week. Kane's music hit and he came out for the opener... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: Much improved mic work by Jackson and a very concise and effective opening segment. Nice to get things started with the big tag team match of the week.

1. Ezekiel Jackson and William Regal defeated Christian and Kane in 17:43. Kane and Zeke exchanged power moves with surprise quickness involved. Christian and Zeke worked for a moment, but Kane tagged back in and Zeke was able to overpower him.

[Q2] Christian hit a missile dropkick but Zeke powered out of the cover. Christian and Kane took conrol of the bout as the show went to commercial... [C]

Back from commercial, Kane and Christian worked well together as a team. On the floor, Christian attacked Regal, but Zeke steamrolled him. Back in the ring, Zeke landed a backbreaker for a two count. Zeke and Regal cut the ring in half. Christian fought back with a side elbow onto Regal from the middle rope.

[Q3] Kane received the hot tag and disposed of both of his opponents. Kane and Zeke fought to the floor. Christian and Regal remained in the ring and while Christian tried the Killswitch, Regal tagged Jackson, who entered and hit his finisher on Christian for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: Very good tag team match that was given ample time to really allow Jackson to shine. Christian, Regal, and Kane are usually going to be good, but Jackson was impressive here too. That was solid hype for the title match on Sunday.

Yoshi Tatsu, Goldust, and Hurricane vs. Trent Baretta, Caylen Croft, and Zack Ryder was hyped... [C]

A Royal Rumble video aired. Backstage, Shelton cut a Rumble promo, but Vance Archer attacked him...

Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendes came out to the ring and footage was aired of their interaction last week with ring announcer Savannah... [C]

[Q4] 2. Goldust, Yoshi Tatsu, and Hurricane defeated Zack Ryder (with Rosa Mendes), Trent Baretta, and Caylen Croft in 14:57. The babyface team quickly gained the advantage and sent their opponents to the floor... [C]

Back from commercial, kudos to Baretta and Croft for getting new ring gear. I'll shit all over it if it sucks, but I'll praise it if it deserves it. Much better this week. By the way, with Yoshi's purple, Trent's yellow, Caylen's blue, and Hurricane's green, they all look like power rangers in there.

[Overrun] Hurricane was the victim of multiple tags and attacks from those in the opposing corner. Yoshi received the hot tag and hit a spinning heel kick from the top. After everyone came in and out, Yoshi hit his finisher to get the win for his team...

Twill's Two Cents: For two weeks in a row, there were only two matches on the show, and with no Abraham Washington Show, I really enjoyed this broadcast. Great stuff. Two matches that really allow the guys to work longer, pay-per-view style matches. This could be the beginning of the change of format for this show and I am all for it.
