[Q1]The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Todd Grisham and Matt Striker welcomed us to Smackdown. They hyped both title matches...Backstage, Vickie Guerrero and Teddy Long did a weird cooking bit. She was showing her food and he was bagging on her. She went to get the cranberry sauce and Hornswoggle jumped up on the counter and started eating the turkey...

Shore’s Slant: What the hell was that?

R-Truth, Matt Hardy, and John Morrison made their entrance together to Truth's lame ass entrance music. The heels came out to Punk's...

1. R-Truth, Matt Hardy, Finlay, and John Morrison defeated CM Punk, Luke Gallows, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre at 10:24. Ziggler and Finlay started. Truth, Hardy, and Punk all saw quick action before Punk leveled Hardy into the break...[C]

[Q2]Back at 6:10, Gallows had Hardy in a bear hug. He dropped the hold and tagged in Drew. He hit a big clothesline for two and tagged in Ziggler. Ziggler showcased his offense and locked a leg scissor on Matt. He broke the hold and Drew tagged in. Hardy made the hot tag and everybody took each other out. Morrison hit Starship Pain on Ziggler for the win...The announce team hyped the world title match...

Shore’s Slant: Fun opening match to start. It was a throwaway match in the sense of advancing any storylike, but all the guys worked hard and hit all their spots. BTW, you guys get general recaps tonight instead of the usual play by play. I have four kids, guess what time I was up this morning.

Back from commercial, Chris Jericho made his entrance in street clothes. He cut his current promo about how he was screwed and a victim. He said the Hart Dynasty didn't deserve a title shot over Big Show and him. He pointed out they were not beaten in their rematch and the Hart's music hit. He told them to calm down. He said he respected their family, and pointed out he trained with the Stu. He said he remembered them as snot nosed little kids, and still saw them that way. He asked what they did to earn a title shot.

Smith said they didn't run from controversy. Kidd said Jericho was the best at what he did, they were the best, period. Jericho said, “While you were coming up with catch phrases at Stu's house...” and DX's music hit. They were backstage and spoke on the big screen. They said that the group in the ring and were boring. They started giving out DX gifts. They “gave” Jericho a Tickle Me Big Show that farted when you poked it's stomach. I can't make this shit up people.

[Q3]They gave the Hart's a one way trip back to Canada. Jericho yelled about DX and their sophomore antics. He got in Kidd's face and said, “Make an impact!” He told DX that he and Jericho would beat them for the titles. He turned around and the Harts hit the Hart Attack on him. They stormed out of the ring and Hunter said they made an impact...[C]

Shore’s Slant: Ugh, Raw comes to Smackdown. Hopefully that's all we get. The Harts did get a good rub here, and if they get a decent match tonight, they could be on their way to a good push. Let's hope.

Back from commercial, Michelle McCool and Layla ran up on Mickie and apologized for all their meanness. They said they were serious and gave her a Christmas present. It was a Jenny Craig gift certificate. They made more fat jokes and ran off laughing...The announce team set up a video package that recapped the current Batista/Mysterio/Undertaker feud...Josh Matthews interviewed Mysterio and asked him about his chances. He said that he was the underdog, but this was the time of year when miracles happen...[C]

Shore’s Slant: Alright, it is official. Vincent Kennedy McMahon is a douche nozzle for his portrayal of Mickie James as fat and will hereby be referred to by the shortened version “Schnozzle.” That is all.

[Q4]Back from commercial, old school ring introductions for the world title match occurred...

2. The Undertaker defeated Rey Mysterio by disqualification to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. Taker hit an immediate right hand and tossed Rey from the ring. He went to the floor and set Rey up on the apron, but missed the leg drop. Rey dove on Taker. He caught Rey and tried to run him into the post, but Rey slid out and drove Taker into the post instead. Rey hit a suicide dive and both men recovered into the break...[C]Back at 4:40, Rey worked kicks on Taker. Taker worked strikes and retook control. He chokeslammed Rey and Batista ran in to cause the DQ.

[Q5]Post match, Batista beat down Taker and went for the Batista Bomb. Taker back dropped out. Rey hit 619 on Taker. Taker went to chokeslam him when he went for the West Coast Pop, but Batista hit the spear on Taker. Rey hit 619 on Batista and left the ring...[C]

Shore’s Slant: Another fun match that did a good job advancing the storyline. Rey vs. two big guys is at least a little different. I'm interested to see where this goes.

Back from commercial, a Tribute to the Troops video aired...Backstage, Cryme Tyme was talking to Santa. He said he wasn't giving his presents out. Shad knocked Santa out and took the bag. They made their ring entrance and handed out gifts. Their local jobber team was in the ring...

3. Cryme Tyme defeated Bryce Andrews and Pat Buck in 2:00. Squash match that Cryme Tyme won with the G-9 for the win. They tossed out more toys...

[Q6]Backstage, Vickie and Teddy were arguing. They stopped and went back to their weird holiday cooking show. They teased hitting each other in the face with pies. Vickie was talking and Hornswoggle walked up. He hit Vickie in the face with a pie. Teddy said the moral was to always leave room for dessert and Horny hit him with a pie. Horny stuck his face in the egg nog and then laughed as it ran down his beard...[C]

Shore’s Slant: Everybody who read the spoilers and said, “Hey, looks like we don't get stupid DX/Raw version of Smackdown,” can go screw yourselves. Never underestimate Schnozzle...never.

Back from commercial, Michelle McCool joined the broadcast team. Mickie James made her entrance and stared down McCool. Maria was out next, followed by Layla and then McCool...

4. Mickie James and Maria defeated Layla and Beth Phoenix at 3:23. Maria and Layla started. Mickie sold being super upset. Striker and McCool heeled it up with all the fat jokes. Beth tagged in and just beat Maria down. Layla tagged in and missed a leg drop. Mickie got the hot tag and worked her offense. She knocked Beth down and hit a Mick Kick for the win.

Post match, Mickie went to attack McCool. Beth attacked Mickie from behind and then clotheslined Maria. She drove Mickie into the announce table and McCool squatted down and talked trash to Mickie. She looked up at Beth and then left scared as her music hit...A Marine 2 video aired...The announce team hyped the main event for next...[C]

Shore’s Slant: The match was OK. Layla is getting better all the time. She was pretty good tonight. I am very interested to see where this whole thing goes. There are a lot of good match ups on Smackdown and they need to be exploited.

[Q7]Back from commercial, the announce team hyped the IC match next week between McIntyre and Morrison...DX made their entrance...[C]The DX Little People's court video from Raw aired...The Hart Dynasty made their entrance...

5. Degeneration-X defeated The Hart Dynasty to retain the Unified Tag Team Championship at 15:38. Kidd and Michaels started. Michaels hit several fast offensive moves and tagged in Hunter. Hunter held the high vertical suplex a la The British Bulldog. He pointed at Smith as he dropped Kidd to the mat. HBK distracted the ref and Smith hit Hunter from behind...[C]

[Q8]Back at 5:58, Smith returned the standing suplex on Hunter. Nice. Kidd tagged in and Hunter hit a clothesline. HBK got the hot tag and went to work. He went for the elbow and Natalya pulled Kidd out of the way. Kidd hit a springboard blockbuster for two and tagged in Smith. He worked the back on the floor and Natalya got a smack in on Shawn. Smith held another suplex on Michaels for two and locked in a rest hold.

HBK escaped, but Smith hit a back suplex for two. Kidd tagged in and Shawn teased the hot tag. He and Kidd butted heads and Kidd rolled to the floor. Kidd hit a springboard and HBK caught him for a reverse atomic drop. Both men made tags and Hunter worked his offense on Smith as the crowd went nuts. He setup for the Pedigree, but Smith lifted him and they hit the Hart Attack. Smith covered and HBK broke the count. Kidd tossed him to the floor and went for a plancha. HBK moved and Kidd sold a leg injury. Smith tried for the powerslam on Hunter, but Shawn hit the superkick and Hunter followed with the Pedigree for the win. Hornsowggle came out and said Merry Christmas and the did the DX chop pyro to end the show...

Shore’s Slant: An OK match to close the show. The Harts didn't get buried, but they didn't look all that strong either. What a shame. I hope DX drops the titles soon so they don't get tarnished by their garbage. I'll have more to say tomorrow in the hitlist. Perhaps I'll even be coherent. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
