[Q1]A video package recapped the Batista/Taker match at TLC…

Shore’s Slant: FYI, a winter storm is making my cable act silly. I may lose some or all of the show.

Teddy Long was introduced and he made his ring entrance. He said Undertaker was successful in his title defense so there would be a match to determine the new number one contender. Batista interrupted and walked to the ring. He said Teddy screwed him and had better make it right. He got in the ring and said no one in the back wanted to face him for the shot. He said Teddy had better name him number one contender.

Rey Mysterio's music hit and he came to the ramp. He said he wanted to challenge Batista for the title shot. He said Batista thought he was the man, but he was really a bully. He said Dave had always thought of him as the little guy, but he never considered his heart. He said the way he was going to get back at Dave was to make sure he never held the World title again. He challenged Dave again and then said some Spanish stuff.

Teddy made the match and said it was for the title shot. He said this was a regular wrestling match and that meant no chairs. He said the winner would get a match against the Undertaker on Christmas night. His music hit and Batista looked happy…[C]

Shore’s Slant: Rey again? This is going to get old fast if they keep coming back to this. Teddy wasn't clear on if the match next week would be for the title or not. I guess we will find out at the end of the show.

Back from commercial, the announce team hyped the main event. He said the winner would get their title shot next week…

Shore’s Slant: Well there you go. It is a title match next week

John Morrison made his ring entrance. Matt Hardy made his entrance, followed by R-Truth and his lame ass entrance.

[Q2]Drew McIntyre was out next. Still photos showed Drew thumbing Morrison in the eye and winning the Intercontinental Championship. Punk and Gallows were out next…

1. Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, and Luke Gallows defeated John Morrison, Matt Hardy, and R-Truth at 11:33. Punk and Hardy started. Some quick tags led to Morrison and McIntyre in the ring. Morrison hit the standing shooting star press for two. McIntyre rolled to the floor and recovered into the break…[C]

Back at 4:09, Morrison had a head lock on Punk. Punk managed to toss Morrison over the rope. Morrison landed on the apron and McIntyre kicked him to the floor. Punk rolled him in the ring and worked him in the corner. Gallows tagged as Morrison fought out. He hit a big boot on Morrison and worked power.

McIntyre tagged in and got a quick one count. He slapped on an armbar that Morrison hip tossed out of. McIntyre prevented the tag and tagged in Gallows. Gallows worked Morrison in the corner and tagged in Punk. Punk hooked on a figure-four headlock and then tagged Gallows back in. Gallows beat up Morrison and then tagged Punk back in. Striker said, "It is the Sabbath, let's worship the savior." Wow.

Morrison made the hot tag to Hardy. Hardy hit a bull dog for two. He ran through his move set and hit the side effect. Gallows broke the count and everybody took everybody out. The ref was distracted by all that and Gallows tossed the Slammy to Punk. He hit Hardy in the stomach and tossed the Slammy out of the ring and covered for the win…

[Q3]Backstage, Maria and Mickie James were playing the video game. It went off and they looked around. Beth walked up holding the power cord. She bashed Mickie for losing the title match. Mickie told her not to be jealous for not having a shot.

Beth said when she was Diva of the Year last year, she went looking for competition. Maria said that was nice, but the WWE Universe chose her this year. Beth said she had a match with Maria later and she would make sure Maria's return was short-lived. Beth stormed off…The announce team hyped the main event…[C]

Shore’s Slant: An OK match to open. There was just to many storylines thrown together to make me care about the match, but the action was decent. Beth Phoenix is Diva of the Year every year she is active. She's not the hottest, but I could watch her wrestle all night.

Back from commercial, the DX skit from Raw aired…The announce team hyped DX coming to Smackdown next week. Son of a…[C]

[Q4]Back from commercial, Eric Escobar made his ring entrance. He cut a promo in broken English and put Vickie down. He said there was nothing she could do to punish him more than being in a relationship with her. Vickie came out and did her bit. She said she remembered it was his birthday and brought him a gift. She said, "Happy Birthday, baby." Kane's pyro popped and he made his entrance…

2. Kane defeated Eric Escobar at 1:26. Escobar went right at Kane, but Kane pushed him off. He clotheslined Escobar over the top and went to the floor to work on him. Vickie came over clapping and Kane stared her back down. Kane got in the ring and finished Escobar off with a chokeslam.

Post match, Vickie got in the ring and laughed. She said Escobar should learn to watch what he says. Escobar took the mic and said he would wake up tomorrow sore, but still standing and ready for the next challenge. He said Vickie would wake up tomorrow and still look "like that." Vickie tried to get the mic to say something, but Escobar left with it…The announce team hyped Jericho vs. Khali for next…[C]

Shore’s Slant: Let me put it this way, if you can't get over as a face against Vickie Guerrero, you should be in another line of work. Hitler could get over as a face against Vickie Guerrero.

Back from commercial, Chris Jericho made his ring entrance with his Slammy, but without any wrappings on his body like he had Monday night. He cut a promo on being screwed out of his real rematch for the tag titles. He said it wasn't over. He said he would leave Raw when he was ready. He said he was being punished for being the best in the world.

He whined about losing his "best friend" the Big Show. He said he knew the crowd was happy to see his misery. He said that was fine because he would continue to be the best. Khali's music interrupted him and he and Mini-Me made their entrance…

3. The Great Khali (w/Ranjin Singh) defeated Chris Jericho at 2:28. Jericho went to the floor immediately and stalled getting in the ring. He finally did and hit several kicks on Khali. Khali no sold and hit the top of the head chop. He hit another one and called for the Khali bomb or vice grip. Jericho went to the floor and then just left for the count-out loss…

[Q5]The announce team hyped the main event…[C]

Shore’s Slant: This show is really dragging. That was a virtual non-match and I'm tired of seeing Jericho lose all the time. I know he can absorb it, but I want to see him win every once in awhile. Just to remind me that he is the best at what he does.

Back from commercial, the Harts made their ring entrance. The do-rag duo were out next. Grisham said Yang now wanted to be called the Asian Redneck Gangster. Are you f-ing kidding me…

4. The Hart Dynasty defeated Jimmy Wang Yang and Slam Master J at 4:32. Kidd and Jeezy started. Yang tagged in quickly and tossed Kidd to the floor and then kicked Smith there as well. Jeezy came in and they hit stereo planchas on the Harts. Yang rolled Kidd back in the ring and immediately lost control. Smith tagged in and hit a suplex that he held for close to 10 seconds. Late in the match, Natalya body slammed Kidd on the floor. They hit the Hart Attack for the win.

Post match, the Harts cut a promo in the ring. Natalya said revenge was a dish best served cold and after 10 years, they finally get their shot at DX. Smith said they would not be intimidated like their fathers were and would end DX's title reign. Kidd added that they would do what the rest of the Hart family didn't and couldn't do because they were better than the best, period…The announce team hyped the main event…

Shore’s Slant: The promo was more exciting than the match. DX vs. The Harts next week? That makes me so sad because you know what's going to happen. If you don't know, I have two words for you: You're an idiot. OK, maybe three words.

[Q6][C]Back from commercial, Michelle McCool and Layla stopped Beth. McCool said they all wanted the same thing, to get rid of Piggie James and the Underfed Redhead Maria. That's a funny line. McCool and Layla went on and on about Mickie being big boned and muscular and manly. Beth said she would hate for a big woman to shut their mouths big time. Beth stormed off and McCool and Layla seemed confused…

5. Beth Phoenix squashed Maria at 1:42. Maria tried to get some offense going, but Beth would have none of it. Beth won with the GlamSlam…The Marine 2 teaser trailer aired…The announce team hyped the main event…[C]

Shore’s Slant: I'm not really sure where this is all going, but I would rather see Beth vs. Natalya. Creative doesn't care about the title so at least give us the match up we want, even if there is no story.

[Q7]Back from commercial, the Raw Rebound video aired…The announce team hyped the World title match next week…Rey Mysterio made his ring entrance….[C]

Back from commercial, Batista made his new ring entrance. They turn the light curtain off, along with the lights, and follow him with the spotlight…

6. Rey Mysterio defeated Batista to become the Number One Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship at 15:51. Rey jumped on Batista, but Batista caught him and drove him into the corner. Batista worked strikes and tossed Rey to the floor. Rey landed on his feet and slipped back in quickly. Batista tried for the Batista bomb, but Rey grabbed the ropes and kicked Batista to the floor. Rey hit a seated senton on the floor and then tried for a moonsault. Batista caught him, barely, and slammed him into the wall. Rey recovered into the break…

[Q8][C]Back from commercial at 5:50, Batista worked on Rey's back in the ring. Rey rolled to the floor and Batista ran his back into the post. Back in the ring, Batista hit a backbreaker and bent Rey over his leg. Rey tried to fight back and Batista hit a big boot for two. Batista choke Rey in the corner and then on the ropes. Rey kicked Batista, but Batista hit a big clothesline for two.

Batista slammed Rey over and over. He sat on the top turnbuckle and Rey ran up and tried for a hurricanranna, but Batista held on. Batista jumped off the ropes and Rey drop kicked him out of the air. Rey went on the attack and hit the body scissors into the bulldog for two. Mysterio hit a springboard leg drop for two. Batista power lifted Rey and he reversed into a DDT for another near fall. Rey hit a dropkick to the knee that set Batista on the rope. He hit the 619, but Batista got his knees up on the splash.

Batista got a near fall off a power slam and setup for the Batista bomb. Rey escaped and hit a dropkick to the leg that spilled Batista to the floor. Batista went for the chair and the ref told him he would disqualify him. Batista slammed the chair down and he hit a spear. Rey kicked out and Batista was frustrated. He started to lift Rey, but Rey hooked an inside cradle for the surprise win. The announce team hyped Mysterio vs. Undertaker for the World title next week…

Shore’s Slant: Color me surprised. OK, I read the spoilers, but I was surprised then. Pretty much the same match we've seen for a few weeks now, except Rey won. I'll be interested to see how this plays out. If Rey wins, Dave could add a whole new level of irritated to his character. I'll have more to say tomorrow on the hitlist.
