Dec 17, 2009 - 07:00 PM

Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Corpus Christi and Laredo, Texas.

[Q1]The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Todd Grisham and Matt Striker welcomed us to Superstars. They hyped the Swagger/MVP main event…Cryme Tyme made their ring entrance. Knox was out next, followed by Ziggler…

1. Cryme Tyme defeated Mike Knox and Dolph Ziggler at 11:32. Ziggler and JTG started out. They ran the ropes and JTG hit a flipping shoulder tackle. Ziggler hid in the ropes and then asked for a test of strength. Ziggler kicked JTG and tagged in Knox. Knox worked on the head and tagged Ziggler back in. Ziggler locked in a chin lock and JTG arm tossed out.

Shad got the hot tag and worked his offense on Ziggler. He hit a back toss suplex and lifted Ziggler on his shoulder. Hew backed up and Knox blind tagged Ziggler's foot. Shad dropped Ziggler on the top rope and turned into the crossbody. Knox sold the crossbody hurting him and both big men recovered into the break…[C]

Back at 6:12, Ziggler had a chin lock on Shad. Shad made his feet. Ziggler broke the gold and hit a drop kick to the leg for two. Knox tagged in and hit a splash on Shad's back for two. Knox used a bear hug and tagged in Ziggler. Ziggler hit his string of elbows and tagged in Knox. Knox stomped on Shad and worked another chin lock. Shad escaped and Knox hit a drop kick for two.

Shore’s Slant: Holy shit.

Ziggler tagged it back in and went for another chin lock. Shad stood with Ziggler on his back and slammed Ziggler down. He hit a clothesline and both men made the hot tag. JTG worked quick offense. He hit a drop kick and then a mug shot. He covered and Ziggler made the save. Shad took out Ziggler, Knox took out Shad, and JTG hit the Shout Out for the win. Grisham called it "ridunkulous."…

[Q2]The teaser trailer for The Marine 2 played…Vance Archer was shown backstage, heading towards the ring…[C]

Shore’s Slant: I don't know if that match was good or I'm still shook up from Knox. That drop kick was the most amazing thing I have ever seen from a big man. Let's put it this way, that match was waaaaaaaaaay better than the Marine 2 looks. What a piece of garbage that looks like. If there is a wrestling fan you hate, give him that for Christmas. It will confuse the hell out of them.

Back from commercial, Vance Archer made his ring entrance as Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton. A video package recapped his beating jobbers the past month. Dreamer was out next…

2. Vance Archer defeated Tommy Dreamer at 4:34. Archer started out strong. He slung Tommy all over the place and stomped on him. He hit a running knee and stomped some more. He hit several strikes and covered for one. He locked in a waist lock but Dreamer escaped. Dreamer tried for a Sunset Flip, but Archer hit a leg drop for two.

Archer continued to work the body and slapped on a bear hug. Dreamer punched out so Archer hit a belly to belly for two. He whipped Dreamer to the corner and charged in. Dreamer moved and Archer hit the turnbuckle. Dreamer went on the attack and hit a bulldog, followed by a DDT for two. Dreamer went to the top and missed the frog splash. Archer hit a big clothesline and then another in the corner. He hit a clothesline and his finisher for the win…

[Q3]The announce team hyped the main event…[C]

Shore’s Slant: Same basic match they had on ECW last week. I hope Archer is in the ECW Homecoming tournament so we can see him face someone current.

Back from commercial, a Sheamus hype video aired, followed by the Raw Rebound…Jack Swagger made his ring entrance as Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler took over on the headsets…[C]

Back from commercial, MVP made his ring entrance. King said MVP still tries to pay for things with cigarettes. Get it? From being in jail. Vince McMahon is a terrible human being…

[Q4]3. MVP defeated Jack Swagger at 13:22. MVP taunted Swagger. Swagger ran in and ate a clothesline. MVP ran Swagger into the turnbuckle and worked him in the corner. Ole King and Cole made fun of Swagger's lisp. MVP hit a hip toss and a slam for two. He hooked a suplex and floated over for two. Swagger reversed a whip into a knee lift. He tossed MVP over the rope and MVP skinned the cat. Swagger hit the back of his head--actually he botched it--to send MVP to the floor. MVP recovered into the break…[C]

Back at 7:33, Swagger worked the arm. A video showed Swagger driving MVP's shoulder into the padded wall during the break. MVP made the rope and Swagger stomped on him before going back to the arm. He drove MVP shoulder first into the corner and worked the arm on the apron from the floor. Swagger continued to work the arm in the ring. Swagger tried to slam MVP in the corner again, but MVP reversed and hit severl strikes to take control.

MVP hit several clotheslines and then a face to the knee. He hit the Ballin elbow and Swagger went to the floor. Swagger hit a hangman on the arm and quickly slid in the ring. He tried for the Gut Wrench Powerbomb. But MVP slid out. Swagger hit a big clothesline for two. Swagger went for his second rope splash and MVP pulled him off for two. MVP hit the Drive-by Kick and the Playmaker for the win…

Shore’s Slant: Remember when we were excited about this feud? These two just don't work well in the ring. Last week's match was slow and ugly and so was this one. It had some entertaining moments, but over all it just dragged. I'm very disappointed. I'll have more to say tomorrow in the Hitlist. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
