12/10 Shore's WWE Superstars Live Coverage: Finlay vs. Dolph Ziggler, The Hart Dynasty vs. Jimmy Wang Yang and Slam Master J, and MVP vs. Jack Swagger
Dec 10, 2009 - 07:00 PM |
Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Dallas and Houston, Texas.
[Q1]The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Todd Grisham and Matt Striker welcomed us to Superstars. They hyped the Swagger/MVP main event…Dolph Ziggler made his ring entrance. Finlay was out next…
1. Dolph Ziggler defeated Finlay at 11:16. Ziggler hid in the ropes to start. He kicked Finlay and slapped on a headlock. Finlay reversed into an arm bar. Ziggler made the ropes and Finlay broke. Ziggler charged and they rolled on the mat some more. Both men stood and Finlay hit a clothesline.
Ziggler reversed and drove Finlay to the turnbuckle. Finlay rolled to the floor and Ziggler tried for a baseball slide. Finlay caught him in the apron and pounded on him. As Finlay tried to get in the ring, Ziggler drove him into the post. Ziggler worked the arm. He whipped Finlay to the corner. Finlay ran up the turnbuckle and quickly turned. They bumped heads and fell to the mat. Both recovered into the break…[C]
Back at 9:05, Ziggler was still working the arm. Ziggler got a near fall and went to the second rope. He jumped off and Finlay kicked him in the face. Finlay hit several clotheslines and got a near fall. Ziggler stood in the corner and Finlay ran in. Ziggler moved and Finlay hit the corner. Ziggler hit the Zig Zag on the bounce out for the win. Post match, a video recapped the match…
[Q2]Josh Matthews interviewed MVP. He asked him for his thoughts on his match tonight. MVP put over Swagger and their previous battles. He said every time he faced Swagger he needed three things: aggression, endurance, and an umbrella. Matthews asked about the umbrella and MVP mocked the lisp. He said Swagger was a lot of things, but he wasn't straight up ballin…[C]
Shore’s Slant: Slow start to Superstars. Finlay and Ziggler were OK, but there was no heat for it and it really didn't pick up until after the break. So, Mickie is fat and now Swagger is Sylvester Cat. Stay classy WWE!
Back from commercial, The Hart Dynasty made their ring entrance. Slam Master J and Jimmy Wang Yang made their entrance next. Yang was wearing a doo rag as opposed to his hat. Dear God…
2. The Hart Dynasty defeated Slam Master J and Jimmy Wang Yang at 3:55. J and Kidd started. Yang tagged in and hit a standing moonsault for two. Kidd went to the floor and Yang followed. He worked Kidd on the floor and rolled him back in. As Yang started to get in the ring, Natalya drug him to the floor and body slammed him. Wow. Smith tagged in and beat on Yang. He tagged in Kidd and launched him for a splash. Yang got the knees up and the hot tag. Yang took out Smith, but Kidd hit a snap mare into a reverse RKO neckbreaker for the win. The announce team hyped the main event…[C]
Shore’s Slant: Short but fun match. I almost marked out when Natty slammed Yang. I hope to God this is the beginning of a Natty/Beth feud. First Bourne and Primo and now Slam Master J and Jimmy Wang Yang? Are they drawing this shit out of a hat?
[Q3]Back from commercial, a Randy Orton hype video aired…
Shore’s Slant: What are the chances that anyone watching this show doesn't know who Randy Orton is?
Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler took over on the headsets. They set up the Raw Rebound that recapped Mark Cuban's time on Raw and then ran down the TLC card…Jack Swagger made his ring entrance. He got a mic and cut a promo on how he was a good role model and MVP was a thug. He said he was born this good. He said he didn't have a lisp, that was how his name was pronounced. He was unable to say his last name.
He yelled that it wasn't funny, just as facing him wasn't funny. He finally said his name and then lisped his way through the word message. His music hit and he gloated into the break…[C]
[Q4]Back from commercial, MVP made his ring entrance…
3. Jack Swagger defeated MVP at 11:53. Swagger started with a head lock take over. An MVP chant started and he whipped out. Swagger won the shoulder block contest and ran the ropes. MVP hit two hip tosses and Swagger went to the floor. Swagger climbed the stairs and got back in the ring. Swagger locked in a wrist lock and MVP hip tossed out again. MVP hit a flying clothesline and setup for the Ballin elbow. Swagger rolled to the floor and MVP hit a plancha. He rolled back in the ring and Swagger recovered into the break…[C]
Back at 7:10, MVP hit a suplex and flipped through for two. He slapped on a arm bar, but Swagger quickly fought out. He slammed MVP into the corner and then to the mat. He stomped on MVP and then worked the back. MVP reversed into a belly to back flip and went to work. He hit a back drop and a clothesline, and then hit the Ballin elbow.
MVP setup for the Playmaker and Swagger grabbed the rope. He ducked a punch and rolled up Swagger for two. He hit a jackknife cover for two. Swagger reversed a whip to the corner and MVP hit the corner and fell on his back. Swagger hit the splash for two. MVP hit a big kick for two. Swagger stunned MVP with a knee lift and hit the gut wrench power bomb for the win. Swagger celebrated up the ramp to end the show…
Shore’s Slant: A good match to close the show, but it did a lot of damage. Swagger had vowed to not lose again this year, only to job to Evan Bourne who is currently jobbing to tag teams with Primo. And now he beats MVP, who can barely get on TV too. I just don't see how this helps anyone except to be on TV. I'll have more to say tomorrow in the Hitlist. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
