12/3 Shore's WWE Superstars Live Coverage: Legacy vs. Evan Bourne and Primo, Zack Ryder vs. Hurricane, and Matt Hardy vs. Dolph Ziggler
Dec 3, 2009 - 07:00 PM |
Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Baltimore, Md. and Hamilton, Va.
[Q1]The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Micheal Cole and Jerry "The King Lawler" welcomed us to Superstars. They hyped the Hardy/Ziggler main event…Legacy made their ring entrance. Bourne and Primo came out together to Bourne's music…
1. Legacy defeated Evan Bourne and Primo at 12:32.
Primo and Rhodes started. They mat wrestled and Bourne tagged in. Primo hit a drop toe hold and Bourne hit a dropkick to the head for two. Rhodes escaped and tagged in DiBiase who was immediately hip tossed by Bourne. Primo tagged in and kick DiBiase in the back for two. Primo whipped DiBiase to the corner and ran in. DiBiase got the feet up and took control.
Legacy worked in and out on Primo. Rhodes hit a side Russian leg sweep for two. DiBiase tagged in and whipped Primo. Primo flipped over DiBiase's back and tagged Bourne. Bourne hit several dropkicks and then went to hit the ropes. Rhodes pulled the rope down and Bourne tubled to the floor. He recovered into the break…[C]
Back at 6:33, DiBiase had a chin lock on Bourne, but he was hulking up. DiBiase hit a big clothesline for two to stop the rally. Rhodes tagged in and hit a suplex and knee drop for two. Bourne tried to fight out and Rhodes hooked in a crossface chicken wing. Bourne drove Rhodes backwards ti cause the break. Rhodes caught Bourne and drug him back to the corner and tagged in DiBiase.
DiBiase chocked Bourne on the ropes. He broke and Rhodes got in a cheap shot while the ref chewed DiBiase. He lifted Bourne for a suplex, and Bourne hit a knee to the top of the head, followed by a flying forearm. Double hot tags and Primo went to work. He hit a springboard cross body on Rhodes and a dropkick on DiBiase. DiBiase rolled to the floor and Primo launched Bourne over the top onto him. Primo watched and Rhodes attacked from behind with CrossRhodes for the win…
[Q2]The Ask a Diva segment aired…Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendes were shown backstage, heading towards the ring…damn…[C]
Shore’s Slant: Decent match for a throwaway. Neither team looked particularly strong here. Legacy doesn't gain much because half the crowd haven’t seen Primo since Orton beat him down, and the other half have never seen Bourne. Remember when Bourne's music used to hit and there was a pop? Remember when we were all waiting for the Bourne/Kidd feud? Yeah, me neither.
Back from commercial, Hurricane made his entrance as Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton took over on the headsets. Ryder and Mendes were out next…
The Hurricane defeated Zack Ryder (w/Rosa Mendez) by disqualification at 4:31. Hurricane started with an arm drag and worked the arm. Ryder got a break on the ropes and hit a suplex. He missed the elbow drop, but Hurricane hit a leg drop. Hurricane went to the second rope and lept over Ryder. Ryder turned around and hit the Rough Rider Leg Lariat to take control. He worked the lower back with strikes and rest holds.
Hurricane fought back and worked strikes. He hit a running clothesline for two and went to the top. Ryder caught him up there and they battled. Ryder tried for a superplex, but was knocked to the mat. Hurricane hit a crossbody and then the Shining Wizard. Ryder rolled to the floor. A masked man ran in and hit Hurricane causing the DQ. The masked man hit a jackhammer and posed over Hurricane. He left the ring and backed up the ramp as Hurricane looked confused…
Shore’s Slant: Again, decent match that did its job by allowing the run in. In case you don't know who it is, his name rhymes with Maul Churchill. I love the storyline advancement. I really do. But did you see that mask? Was that really the best they could do? Wow.
[Q3][C]Back from commercial, Todd Grisham and Matt Striker took over on commentary. They set up a video that recapped Sheamus and Cena on Raw, including Carlito's epic speech. That brought a tear to my eye for the second time…The announce team ran down the current TLC card…Matt Hardy made his ring entrance…[C]
[Q4]Back from commercial, Dolph Ziggler made his entrance…
3. Dolph Ziggler defeated Matt Hardy at 12:01. The crowd chanted Hardy to start. Hardy locked in an arm bar quickly and worked the arm. Ziggler got to the ropes and broke dirty. He rolled up with the tights for one and rolled to the floor. He tried to grab Matt's leg on the way in, but Matt lifted for a suplex. Ziggler twisted out and worked strikes. Matt suddenly recovered and hit a clothesline over the top.
Hardy hit a dropkick through the ropes and went to the floor. He worked Ziggler on the floor and rolled him back in. Matt hit a double axe handle from the second rope and teased Twist of Fate. Ziggler saw it coming and hid in the corner. Matt grabbed his legs and Ziggler grabbed the top rope. Matt used it for a sit-down power bomb for two. Ziggler rolled to the floor and recovered into the break…[C]
Back at 7:26, Ziggler had a chin lock on. Matt fought out but Ziggler clubbed him. He went to the second rope. Matt rahn up and they battled on the top. Matt fell to the mat and Ziggler went to work. He worked aggressive strikes, including his jumping elbow for two. He locked in a body scissor.
Matt fought out and took control. He worked his offense, hitting a neckbreaker for two. Matt went to the second rope and jumped off. Ziggler kicked him and drove his face to the mat for two. He stood Matt up and they fought. He pushed Matt against the rope and tried for a Zig Zag. Hardy held the rope and Ziggler landed hard. Matt setup for Twist of Fate, but Ziggler reversed into a back slide for the win. Wait, what? A backslide? Oh, a video recapped the win and Hardy looked pissed in the ring as Ziggler celebrated on the ramp to end the show…[C]
Shore’s Slant: Fun closing match with a surprise ending. I don't remember the last time I have seen a backslide pin. I was sure Ziggler was going to job based on the past few weeks, so it was nice to see him get the win. I'll have more to say tomorrow on the hitlist. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
