[Q1] The opening montage opened show and the commentators welcomed us to Smackdown and they hyped the main event of the Brothers of Destruction vs. JeriShow and Morrison vs. Ziggler for the IC title in a 2 out of 3 falls match. Batista came out to some pumped heat and looked pissed.

1. Batista defeated Matt Hardy in 4:25. Dave controlled the first minute of this match working on Matt in the corner and applied an body scissors. Matt came back with some elbows, but Dave countered out. Matt hit a flying elbow and went for a Twist of Fate but Dave tried to counter with a Batista Bomb but Matt countered with a DDT to Dave. Dave hit a chop block to Dave and Matt countered. Dave splashed Matt on the ropes and hit a spinebuster. Dave stomped Matt and hit a second spinebuster. Dave hit a third spinebuster and hit a Batista Bomb to win the match.

Mind of Marv: Again, another Batista squash match in the making. I understand they are making him look strong, but something tells me they are putting Rey over in this match at Survivor Series which will make no sense to me.

Video was shown of the contract signing from last week. Josh Matthews interviewed Dave in the back and Dave said he made 3 mistakes. He cost him the world title, he signed the harmless agreement and he embarrassed him. He said he will never embarrass him again because he will embarrass Rey Mysterio with No Mercy or remorse.

Mind of Marv: I don’t know, this match is not catching my interest at all for Survivor Series. In other words, meet me in the Greene Turtle for a beer (if you are at the show) because I will be there.

[Q2] A video package was shown of the history of the Brothers of Destruction. The announcers hyped the main event. Teddy Long was fixing his tie and Vickie came in a bitched at Long. Vickie asked what he was thinking to reunite the BOD and Long said Vince approved them. Vickie bitched about Eric Escobar not being used and why he is still on probation. Long told them to get out and Vince came in. Vince said where did he come up with the idea and said it was stupid. He said it can destroy the main event and since he is on probation, Vickie will be a consultant to Smackdown. Vickie screamed in joy ( and was being annoying).

Mind of Marv:I see that Vince McMahon is pulling the Washington Redskins card by hiring a consultant to run a show…if you watch football, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

The show returned with a overview of the McIntyre and Finlay feud. Drew said that Finlay loves to fight but in reality, Finlay loves to cry and whimper. He said Finlay reminds him of an old lady who is scared of him and demanded him to come out.

2. Drew McIntyre defeated Finlay in 1:38. Finlay flipped Drew over and beat the shit out of him for the first minute of the match. Drew hit a jab to Finlay’s eye and hit his finisher on Finlay to win the match…

Mind of Marv: WTF? How do u get beat for a minute then in a matter of 20 seconds you hit one shot to the eye and lose with a DDT? Make no damn sense how McIntyre is getting pushed because it’s looking TNA-Esq. if u ask me.

Punk is coming to a ring for a promo, next…[C]

[Q3] Punk said that he will do something he should have did a long time ago because they are sick an helpless. He will have a straightedge intervention and the first thing they should do is admit that they have a problem. He said for the crowd to stand up and people at home should put their hands on the TV and admit that they are addicts. He said it sounds like denials and called the crowd addicts. He said that the crowd is in denial because are weak, powerless and have no control over their problems. He will teach everyone how to survive. Bucket #1 had cigarettes and how it harms you. He said the surgeons general know more than everyone and even though they have the table, they inhale poison and they should throw their lungs in the garbage. He threw the cigarettes away.

Bucket #2 had prescription medication and said that they eat the pills like candy. He said the pills are failure in a bottle and every time they take a pill they are failing at life. He said that the pills should said take only as prescribed but they take them more then prescribed.

He threw the pills away and Bucket #3 was a bottle of whiskey and said it was sad that they cheered. He said how many people will see him take a drink of the whiskey. He call the drink liquid hell and they should be responsible for their actions and said that it ruins their relationship. He said the drink is the worse of them all. He said like this bottle of whisky, their life is going down the drain and he poured the bottle in the garbage. R-Truth came to the ring and asked the crowd what’s up.

He said the truth is that he thinks he is better than everyone else. He said everyone makes their own decisions. He said the truth is that he don’t like him and hit an DDT on him. Truth poured all the shit in the garbage on Punk and slammed the garbage on him.

[Q4] The IC title match is next…

Mind of Marv: Decent segment. I’m mad that Punk has taken the demotion to the mid-card with the likes of R-Truth, but this maybe a interesting program…

3. John Morrison over Dolph Ziggler in a best of three falls match to retain the Intercontinental Title in 11:50. Dolph had the advantage at the beginning with two quick near falls. Morrison came back with some instant offense for a nearfall. Morrison went for Starship Pain, but Dolph Moved and did nice move of the top rope outside of the ring. Morrison missed Starship Pain because Ziggler put his knees up. Morrison scored the first pinfall…[C]

[Q5] The show returned with Dolph getting a nearfall on Morrison. Morrison hit some elbows and Dolph countered with a Zig Zag for the second pinfall. Dolph hit a sick dropkick for a nearfall. Dolph hit the jumping elbow for a nearfall. Dolph applied a body scissors to Morrison and hit a GTS type move to Morrison’s ribs for a near fall. Dolph hit a low dropkick to Morrison in the corner for an nearfall and Morrison countered with a roll up for a nearfall. Dolph hit a standing bulldog to Morrison for a nearfall. Morrison hit a DDT to Dolph. Morrison hit Starship Pain on Dolph for the win.

Mind of Marv: Man, this match could of went 20 minutes at least. Very good match from both competitors. I agree with the Dot Net member that this match was too damn short. This makes Dolph the Cleveland Browns in IC title matches, which does no good for him. He looked strong, but come on put the belt on him and push Morrison in the main event.

4. Mickie James beat Layla in 1:10.Mickie had the early advantage but Layla came back with some blows to the head. Mickie applied a Matrix type rollup for the quick win.

Layla grabbed a mic and said celebrate all you want, maybe she should take a look at the Titan Tron. Michelle McCool did a Old McDonald theme about Mickie James and did a goofy ass Looney Tunes, Porky Pig Type Theme with “That’s All Folks”.

Mind of Marv: This was classless as all hell and proves why Michelle McCool and whoever wrote this segment (in creative) is complete asshole. This topic was discussed on the Prowrestling.net forum earlier this week and to see what was said, become a member for only $5 a month…

[Q6] 5. Rey Mysterio fought Tyson Kidd to a no-contest in 2:35. Batista came out for commentary and stood quiet to the commentators. Nattie and Kidd came out to the ring. The commentators kept asking Batista to answer questions but he remained quiet. Kidd dominated the matchup at the beginning for some multiple nearfalls. Kidd hit a low dropkick to Rey’s jaw for a nearfall. Kid missed a flying elbow and Rey hit one of those kicks to the head for an nearfall.

Rey went for the 619, but Kidd moved. Batista threw Kidd out of the way and Mysterio jumped Batista and ran away from him.

Mind of Marv: If the cruiserweight division actually mattered, this match would have been epic. But it’s adding more fuel to the Mysterio/Batista feud so its OK. I just wished they pushed the Harts better.

Backstage, Jericho was bitching about BOD. Show said that they should talk about the future because he will be at SS to be world champ. They both bickered about BOD and Jericho tried to act hard. Show said he knows how it takes to survive and Jericho said he knows what it takes. Show said he know what it take when he knocks him out if its them alone in the ring. Jericho said he was selfish and Show played with the lights. Jericho got scared Show chuckled. [C]

[Q7] The MSG video package was shown. JeriShow came to the ring…[C]

[Q8] 6. The Brothers of Destruction fought Unified Tag Team Champions JeriShow to a no-contest in 14:00. Kane and Jericho started the match. Kane hit a nasty uppercut to Jericho and worked on him in the corners. Kane went for a cover for a nearfall. Taker tagged in and worked on Jericho. Jericho tagged in to Show and Show and Taker stared at each other. Show went for the punch but Taker worked on him with the shoulder block. BOD knocked Show out of the ring. [C]

Jericho had the advantage but Taker worked don Jericho’s arm and hit Old School for a nearfall. BOD hit a double big boot for a nearfall. Kane hit an uppercut but Show countered with a spear because he tagged Jericho. The heels began to work on Kane in the corner. Show hit a punch to Kane’s guts and the heels continues their reign on Kane. Jericho applied an armbar submission to Kane but Kane countered out. Jericho hit a bulldog to Kane and he taunted Taker. Jericho went for a Lionsault but missed.

Jericho tagged Show and continued to work on the beaten Kane. Show went for superplex on Show but Kane knocked him off and hit a flying punch on Show. Kane tagged Taker and he worked on both heels. Jericho hit Snake Eyes, a big boot and leg drop for a nearfall. Taker tried to chokeslam Jericho but he countered into the walls of Jericho and Taker countered in the Hell’s Gate. Show broke it up and both teams fought outside. BOD went for a double chokeslam, but Jericho interfered and BOD destroyed him in the ring. Kane chokeslammed Jericho. Taker hit a big boot to Jericho and Show chokeslammed Taker. Show picked Jericho up and Jericho codebreaked Show and grabbed the world title.

Mind of Marv: OK main event, but the finish was so predictable, I could of told anyone if I was 100 years old. Overall, this show was borderline average to good and gets a B-. It was off and on, but there was some clunkers (i.e. the Mickie James segment).

Note: Since I am living in DC, I will be at the Survivor Series on Sunday and I will have a report after the show with my thoughts. This has been my 3rd big PPV, meaning I only have the Royal Rumble to attend because I went to WM 22 in Chicago, Summerslam in Indianapolis in 2008 and Survivor Series this year. Vikings over Seahawks- its no Powell ass kissing but they have proven to be one of the elite Teams in the NFL…

Redskins over Cowboys – Redskins have the top pass defense and Romo will throw picks. It should be decent scoring with the Skins escaping like last week with a small margin of victory
Bengals over Raiders – obvious pick, but if you play fantasy, pick up the Bengals defense because this will be a pre-Thanksgiving feast of points.

Texans over Titans – I know Tennessee has been hot since Vince Young started, but Andre Johnson is a beast and he is gonna light those corners up in a MNF shootout…
