10/22 Shore's WWE Superstars Live Coverage: Gail Kim vs. Kelly Kelly, Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov vs. Tommy Dreamer and Goldust, Matt Hardy and R-Truth vs. Eric Escobar and Drew McIntyre
Chris Shore Oct 22, 2009 - 07:00 PM

Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Jacksonville, Fla. And Columbia S.C.

[Q1]Bah, my power went off one minute before the show and by the time my cable box back on, The Divas match had already started…

1. Kelly Kelly defeated Gail Kim in 6:00. Kelly tried for a monkey flip in the corner, but Kim held on. Kelly landed hard and Kim covered for two. She locked in a rest hold. Kim set Kelly on the top rope and tried for a hurricanranna. Kelly held on and Kim landed hard and ugly on the mat. Kelly rolled off the top rope for two. Kelly hit a flying leg scissors for two. Kelly whipped Kim to the corner and Kim jumped up and came of the second rope for a splash. Kelly moved and hit leg drop after springboarding off of Kim for the win. The move is called the Kelly Killer…The announce team hyped the main event…[C]

Shore’s Slant: The two minutes I saw of that match wasn’t bad. I guessed at the time so if I’m wrong, sue me. Sorry for the late start, but it looks like a big area lost power for a moment. Odd.

[Q2]Back from commercial, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Michael “Coca” Cole hyped a video that showed the Cena/Orton feud…[C]…Ezekiel Jackson made his ring entrance as Josh Matthews and Matt Striker took over on commentary. Kozlov was out next, followed byt Dreamer and then Goldust…

2. Tommy Dreamer and Goldust defeated Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov at 6:15. Dreamer and Zeke started. Zeke whipped Goldust to the corner and Goldust moved. He tagged in Dream who hit a flying clothesline. Zeke just slammed Dreamer and tagged out. Kozlov missed and elbow and Tommy worked his offense. Kozlov hit a slam out of nowhere to retake control. He and Zeke worked Dreamer in the corner. Zeke whipped Dreamer to a neutral corner and then followed with a big clothesline for two. He locked in a double underhook rest hold.

[Q3] Dreamer made his feet and rammed Zeke’s head into the corner. Double hot tags and Goldust knocked Kozlov down for a cover. Zeke made the save. Kozlov tried for his finisher, but Dreamer hit him from behind as the ref pushed Zeke out of the ring. Goldust hit the Golden Age for the win. Post match, Zeke and Kozlov beat down Dreamer and Goldust…The announce team hyped the main event…[C]

Shore’s Slant: The momentum transitions in this match were like one move. One guy would be getting beatdown and then he would hit one move and be in control. In other words, there was no drama at all. It looked like an opening round amateur match. What an odd match.

Back from commercial, the ECW crew ran down the Bragging Rights cards…A very nice Miz hype video played…Hardy and R-Truth were shown backstage heading towards the ring…[C]Back from commercial, Truth and Matt came out to Jeff’s heat. At least no “What’s up!” Escobar and Vickie came out next. McIntyre finished the intros. Old King and Cole were on coimmentary due to JR’s health and Grisham’s marraige…

[Q4]3. Eric Escobar (w/Vickie Guerrero) and Drew McIntyre defeated Matt Hardy and R-Truth vat 13:15. Escobar and Truth started out. Truth danced and confused Escobar. He flowed up with several quick moves and hit a heel kick for one. Hardy tagged in and immediately lost control. McIntyre tagged in and traded blows with Matt. Matt worked him to the corner and tagged in Truth. They tossed McIntyre to the floor. Escobar went to check on him and the faces hit double baseball slides to drop the heels on the floor. The faces celebrated in the ring into the break…[C]

Back at 7:20, Truth hit a drop toe hold on Escobar. McIntyre took a swipe at Truth. Truth ducked and leveled Drew. Escobar hit an arm breaker and tagged in McIntyre. McIntyre worked the arm with strikes and stomps. He locked in an arm hold and then lifted Truth for a suplex. Escobar tagged in and continued to work the arm. McIntyre tagged back in and Truth reversed a whip into a flipping pinning predicament for two. Truth hit a clothesline out of the kick out and tagged Hardy.

Hardy went to work. He worked his offense and then hit a moonsault for two as Escobar broke the count. Vickie distracted the ref and Escobar hit a hangman on Hardy and McIntyre hit his double underhook DDT finisher for the win. Post match, a video recapped the end of the match…

Shore’s Slant: I should be excited that these guys got almost 15 minutes of TV time. I should be, but I’m not because nobody showed me anything. Escobar and McIntyre show their green, Hardy is what he has always been, and no one takes Truth seriously. A lackluster main event to a lackluster show. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you tomorrow night for Smackdown!
