10/8 Shore's WWE Superstars Live Coverage: Ted DiBiase vs. Evan Bourne, Sheamus vs. Shelton Benjamin, The Hart Dynasty vs. Cryme Tyme...again
Chris Shore Oct 8, 2009 - 07:00 PM |
|
Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Wilkes-Barre, Pa and Trenton, NJ.
[Q1]The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Michael “Cole Busted” and Jerry “The King” Lawler welcomed us to Superstars. They hyped the tag team main event…Ted DiBiase made his ring entrance sporting a nice black eye. A video recapped Cody being stretchered out at HIAC. Ted got a mic and dedicated the match to Cody. He said Cody was illegally attacked on Sunday by DX. He asked for a moment of silence and the crowd booed while he observed it. Evan Bourne made his ring entrance…
1. Ted DiBiase defeated Evan Bourne at 10:34. DiBiase attacked immediately and mauled Bourne in the corner. He whipped Bourne. Bourne ducked a clothesline and tried for a crucifix roll up. DiBiase kept his feet and then dropped Borne to the mat for two. Bourne fought back and spilled DiBiase to the floor. He went to the top and hit a standing splash on the floor. Bourne rolled DiBiase back in the ring, but he rolled through to the floor again. Bourne tried for a flying head scissors from the apron, but Ted caught it and spun around, slamming Bourne into the protective wall. Bourne recovered into the break…[C]
Back at 5:22, DiBiase had Bourne in a Randy Orton chin lock. Bourne made his feet, but DiBiase beat him back down with strikes and kicks. He bent Bourne backwards over the bottom rope with his foot, breaking on four. Bourne fought back with kicks, but DiBiase reversed a corner whip hard. He mounted Bourne and punched him and followed up with three elbow drops. He let Bourne stand and hit a standing drop kick. Bourne fought out again, but DiBiase hit a clothes line that made Bourne do a full back flip for two. Wow.
Bourne managed to hit a springboard Chuck kick and more kicks to the thigh. He ducked a clothesline and hit a shoulder block. He pulled DiBiase to the corner, but DiBiase escaped. Bourne tried for a jumping kick, but DiBiase ducked and popped up behind him. DiBiase hit Dream Street for the win…
[C]The Ask a Diva video played. It was God awful. Backstage, Shelton Benjamin was shown backstage, heading towards the ring. His match is next…
Shore’s Slant: Wow, that was a lot of fun. Bourne flops around like Cena but his body style really sells it. DiBiase reminded me of Chris Jericho with the obvious way he called the match, but considering I just compared him to the best in the business today, he should take it as the compliment it was. This may be the first time Raw had the best match on this show.
Back from commercial, the whitest man in the world made his ring entrance as Matt Striker and Josh Matthews took over on the headsets. A video recapped Seamus’s attack on Benjamin two weeks ago that injured the left shoulder. Benjamin came out to a small pop…
2. Shelton Benjamin defeated Seamus by disqualification at 4:14. Seamus went right for the shoulder. He ran Benjamin into the post through the second rope twice and covered for two. Seamus worked the arm with strikes and an arm bar. Benjamin made his feet and tried for a T-Bone, but Seamus reversed into an arm breaker. Seamus took the wrap off the shoulder and worked the arm in the ropes. He locked in another modified arm bar. Benjamin made the ropes and Seamus broke. He tried to drag Benjamin back in the ring, but he held on. He stomped on Benjamin in the ropes and the ref called for the DQ at the five count. Post match, Seamus hit the big boot on Benjamin, knocking him out…The announce team hyped the tag team main event…
Shore’s Slant: This could be a hell of a feud and could make me watch, or at least tape and watch, ECW. This wasn’t much, but it did progress a story line. I just wished they got the bulk of the time and not the Harts vs. Cryme Tyme DDDCLXVII. I just want to die knowing I have to sit through that match again.
[Q3][C]Back from commercial, a William Regal and Company hype video aired…Back ringside, Jim Ross and Todd Grisham took over on commentary and introed the Raw Rebound video. It included the SportsCenter coverage as well as footage from Raw…Backstage, Josh Matthews interviewed the Hart Dynasty. He asked them about their match against Cryme Tyme. They punked Cryme Tyme and said they were better. Natalya said that the Hart Foundation was the best, but tonight they would prove that they are better than the best. They walked out and the announce team hyped the match for next…[C]
Shore’s Slant: Please prove something so we can see this feud end. Please! Natalya is such an enigma to me. She turns me on and scares the hell out of me all at the same time.
Back from commercial, Cryme Tyme and Eve made their entrance. Grisham called Eve “smart, sexy, and powerful.” I hope he gets hit by a bus later. The Harts were out next…
[Q4]3. Cryme Tyme (w/Eve) defeated The Hart Dynasty at 12:29. JTG and Kidd started. Lots of quick mat wrestling lead to two hip tosses from JTG. He tagged in Shad and Kidd escaped and ran to tag in Smith. They traded punches and Shad whipped Smith to the corner. He ran in and jumped and Smith brought his knees up. Smith stomped him and tagged in Kidd. They double whipped Shad to the corner and he bounced out hitting Smith with a clothesline. Kidd ran at him and Shad tossed Kidd to the floor where Smith had rolled out. Shad dove on both from the apron and then rolled back in to celebrate with JTG…[C]
Back at 7:18, JTG was punching Kidd in the corner. He hit a reverse bulldog for two. Kidd managed to get a quick tag and Smith attacked JTG. He tossed JTG from the ring, but he landed on the apron. The ref pulled Smith away and Kidd kicked JTG into the ring post. JTG rolled back in the ring and Smith picked him up in a powerslam lift and drove his back into the corner. Smith locked in a back rest hold. JTG made his feet and Smith tried for a pile driver, but JTG reversed. Smith tried for a running clothesline, but JTG hit his twisting lariat.
Double hot tags led to Shad destroying Kidd. Kidd ducked a clothesline attempt and tried for a flying crucifix, but Shad held him. Smith ran in and hit a big boot allowing Kidd to roll up for two. Smith tagged in and they set up for the Hart Attack, but JTG grabbed Kidd’s leg and drug him to the floor. They clotheslined each other. Natalya argued with the ref as Smith tried to lock in the Sharpshooter. Shad kicked out and Eve grabbed Smiths leg. He ripped his leg free, but turned into the Magnificent. Shad covered for the win for the win. A video recap of the match closed the show…
Shore’s Slant: That’s the best O have seen from them, but it still bores the hell out of me now that we have seen it time and time again. How cool would it be for JeriShow to drop the straps to the Harts? It would instantly elevate them to stars, allow them to travel to various shows and build even more credibility, and free Jericho up to fix the main event scene on Smackdown. Which means it will never happen. Glad to see the show go back to the three match, one promo format. Even with this match again, it was a better than average show. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you tomorrow night for Smackdown.
