9/7 Twilling's WWE Raw Live Coverage: The Price is Right legend Bob Barker is the special guest host; final hype for the Breaking Point pay-per-view
Sep 7, 2009 - 10:00 PM

WWE Raw on the USA Network
Live from Chicago, Il

[Q1] Howard Finkel announced the show as Rod Roddy used to do on The Price is Right. He called it “The Price is Raw.” He introduced Bob Barker, who came out to the stage with The Price is Right theme music and a hot girl accompanying him. Bob thanked the crowd for the welcome and wished he had a refrigerator for everyone in attendance...

Twill’s Two Cents: Bob looks great and it is great to hear Howard again.

The crowd cheered for Bob and Bob thanked for the people for keeping him in the television industry for years. Bob said we were going to have a pricing game and sent it to Howard to introduced four contestants. Finkel introduced Santino Marella, Jillian Hall, IRS, and Chris Jericho. The first three had nametags like the contestants on the show. Jericho never came out.

Barker called for Jericho and said, “Chris, you are getting paid!” Jericho came out in his ring gear with a nametag and pissed off look on his face. The item up for bids was the 10th Anniversary Smackdown set. Barker called for the bids. Santino asked to buy a vowel and pretended to be a giddy contestant.

Santino bid $1465 dollars and as all four contestants stood at a TPIR contestant’s row. Jillian started to sing “I Will Always Love You” to Bob. Bob said he loved Jillian’s singing but he was tone deaf. IRS asked if the bid included taxes. Barker asked for Jericho’s bid and called him “happy boy.” Jericho walked up to the stage before making his bid.

Jericho approached Barker. Barker said Jericho’s mother would not be happy with the way he was acting. Jericho said, “Nobody calls me Chris. You need to call me Mr. Jericho.” Jericho demanded respect and Bob asked why. Jericho said he was the best in the world and one half of the... “One, his bid is one dollar,” said Barker.

Barker sent Jericho back to his spot in contestant’s row and revealed that Jericho won the bidding game. Barker sent Jericho to the ring and Howard announced Jericho was playing for a trip to Hawaii. The Bella Twins were shown hula dancing. Barker introduced MVP and said if Jericho won, he would be on his way to Hawaii...

Twill’s Two Cents: How hilarious did Jericho look with his “Chris” nametag? Beyond that, how great does Bob look and how much do we miss him on television?

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler introduced the show as MVP made his entrance...

1. MVP defeated Chris Jericho in 10:59. Jericho attempted his springboard dropkick spot but MVP ducked and Jericho tumbled to the floor as the show went to commercial... [C]

[Q2] Back from commercial, Jericho had MVP grounded with a modified Million Dollar Dream. He quickly turned the tide and knocked MVP to the floor. Back in the ring, Jericho started working on the back of MVP. MVP reversed a bodyslam into a small package and scored a two count. He hit a huge closeline for another two count.

Jericho hit a bulldog after MVP telegraphed a backdrop attempt. He tried a lionsault but landed on his feet. MVP hit a jawbreaker and tried the “Ballin’” elbow, but Jericho stood up and locked in the Walls of Jericho. MVP rolled through and applied a small package for a two count. He then hit a huge boot for another two count.

MVP tried the Playmaker but Jericho pushed his way out of it. With MVP next to the ropes, Jericho tried the Codebreaker but MVP held onto the ropes. MVP rolled through holding onto Jericho’s legs and scored the clean three count...

After the match, Jericho walked dejectedly back up the ramp as MVP celebrated in the ring...

Twill’s Two Cents: That was a very fun match to open up the show and promote the tag title match at Breaking Point. MVP needed the win here and he got it. Jericho can take a loss and still be golden. Take notes Mr. Cena and Mr. Helmsley.

Footage was shown of Legacy beating up John Cena last week with Dusty Rhodes as the guest host. Cena vs. Cody Rhodes was announced for tonight... [C]

[Q3] Footage was shown of C.M. Punk winning the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam and the Undertaker attacking him afterwards...

Jeremy Piven’s girl, Kelly Kelly, talked backstage to Bob Barker about his book and his foundation about spaying and neutering animals. DX came up and talked positively about Happy Gilmore. Barker brought them up and had them spin an electronic wheel revealing their opponents for tonight. Barker said he had two words for them, “Spin it!”

Michaels spun the wheel and it landed on Chris Masters. Triple H spun the wheel and it landed on Randy Orton. DX will face Masters and Orton tonight. Michaels said he thinks they can make things work. They thanked Bob and walked off... [C]

Twill’s Two Cents: How can you not love Barker? He should be the permanent host. By the way, Bob likes the ladies as well, so Piven may have some competition for Kelly.

Footage was shown of Hornswoggle beating Chavo yet again last week...

Twill’s Two Cents: How many times can you surprise someone?

With Chavo in the ring, Barker said if Chavo won his match, he would win a new Corvette. The Bellas modeled in the car as Finkel rand down the specs...

Twill’s Two Cents: Chavo could buy his own corvette, so he isn’t some random scrub who lucked his way onstage.

2. Evan Bourne defeated Chavo Guerrero in 4:18. Chavo enjoyed the early advantage. Bourne scored a nearfall after a sweet springboard shining wizard. Evan tried a top rope hurricarana but Chavo moved and Evan hit the top ropes, tumbling to the mat. Chavo hit the three suplexes in succession and went for the frog splash. Hornswoggle came in and shot Chavo with a supersoaker. Chavo went after him and Evan rolled Chavo up for the win...

Twill’s Two Cents: Why is that not a disqualification? By the way, Chavo and Evan could really work a nice program. If anyone has seen Family Guy, Chavo should beat up Hornswoggle like Mayor Adam West beat up the Noid.

[Q4] Cole and King talked about Breaking Point. King said there would be submission matches from top to bottom. That is not true King. Footage was shown of John Cena walking backstage... [C]

Footage was shown of Randy Orton giving Dusty Rhodes a RKO last week with Cody Rhodes looking on. Various Chicago White Sox players, and their groupies, were shown at ringside...

Rhodes came out by himself and took the mic. He said he was still a member of Legacy. Cody said he did not agree with what Randy did, but Dusty did not make Cody a main eventer, Randy Orton did. Cody, with his girlie nose ring and Swagger-like lisp, said Dusty was a good father, but Cody chose to put his career ahead of family. He said he would make Cena tap out tonight...

Twill’s Two Cents: There is so much emphasis being placed on the “I Quit” match between Orton and Cena, but if you tap out, you are quitting; it is the same thing.

3. John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes by disqualification in 10:37. Cena knocked Rhodes to the floor and within the first minute of the match, the show went to commercial... [C]

Christian and Tommy Dreamer vs. Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson will be the main event on ECW tomorrow night...

[Q5] With Rhodes in control, Cena hit a belly to belly suplex. Cole called it “a throw.” That is so freaking annoying. I remember a long time ago when The Rock did an underhook released suplex and Jim Ross called it a “Greco Roman Throw.” Since then, Cole calls everything a throw. Okay, back to the match.

Cody fought back and hit a Russian Leg Sweep for a long two count. Rhodes locked in a modified camel clutch in which he had an armbar applied. Rhodes then locked in an armbar on its own in the middle of the ring. They teased Cena tapping but Cena fought out into an AA attempt. Cena hit his “vintage” moves. Cole acted like his vintage douchey self.

Cena tried his top rope leg drop across the back of the head and Cody moved. He attempted a figure four and Cena grabbed onto Cody’s leg. He applied the STF. Before anything happened, Randy Orton hit the ring and the referee called for the bell. Cena hit the AA on Rhodes. Orton, from the ramp, stared down Cena...

Twill’s Two Cents: If presented correctly, Rhodes could be a title contender, not necessarily a world champion, but viable title contender in the future. That was an enjoyable match.

A graphic of tonight’s main event, DX vs. Chris Masters and Randy Orton, was shown. A commercial for the Best of Smackdown on October 2nd was shown... [C]

Batista will return to Raw next week to make a huge announcement. I am putting my money on him having a STD. Just kidding...

One legend, Howard Finkel, introduced another legend, Bob Barker. Barker again came out to the stage. A.J. Pierzynski was introduced as the next contestant on The Price is Raw. A.J. was booed by his own hometown crowd.

[Q6] The next item up for bids was a travel package to WrestleMania XXVI. Santino won the bidding. Insert your “that is the only way he’ll make it to WrestleMania” jokes here. Santino went to the ring and was offered a chance to win a hot tub. The Bellas modeled the hot tub. Santino asked if the twins came with the tub. “No, it is a family show,” said Bob.

Barker told Santino he would be involved in a body slam challenge. Andre the Giant and Big John Studd just smiled a bit. Predictably, Big Show came out for the challenge...

4. Big Show defeated Santino in a body slam challenge in :16. Show slammed Santino and TPIR’s “loser” sound played.

Barker said he had another opponent for Show in a body slam challenge and out came Mark Henry. By the way, Barker is using his TPIR long microphone. Henry came out to face Show... [C]

5. Mark Henry defeated Big Show in a body slam challenge in 3:12. This is more like it. Truthfully, I would rather see a body slam challenge between these two as opposed to a regular match.

Twill’s Two Cents: Another reason to dislike John Cena is that not only could he body slam Show, he can lift him over his head for the Attitude Adjustment.

With both men going for slams, Henry finally scored the win by bodyslamming Show. MVP came out to the ring and celebrated with his partner...

Twill’s Two Cents: Impressive! Also, yet another great way to promote the tag team title match for this Sunday.

[Q7] Josh Matthews interviewed Bob Barker. He asked Bob what the most memorable moment on TPIR was. Barker told a story about how a woman ran down the aisle at the beginning of the show and her tits popped out. He talked about how a contestant stepped on his broken toe... [C]

Twill’s Two Cents: What a thrill for Josh. Wow; lucky him.

Trish Status is the guest host next week in Toronto...

Cole and King stood in the middle of the ring and ran down the card for Breaking Point...

Backstage, Barker was reading his book and said he enjoys it more every time he read it. Chavo approached Barker and said he was not leaving tonight without his car. Chavo set himself up for the Happy Gilmore moment of the show. Barker socked Chavo in the midsection. He then instructed us to have our pets spayed and neutered...

Randy Orton and Chris Masters were shown talking backstage. The main event graphic was shown... [C]

[Q8] DX made their always fun entrance. Cole said we were watching the “longest running weekly episodic show in television history.” Ah, vintage Cole. Hunter loves Chicago and Chicago is ready. They did their complete introduction before Masters came out. The champ was next...

6. Degeneration X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) defeated Randy Orton and Chris Masters in 14:02. At the beginning of the match, Michaels positioned himself to hit Sweet Chin Music on Masters but Masters rolled to the floor... [C]

Back from commercial, Orton was in the ring with Triple H. DX exchanged quick tags and Hunter inadvertently took out the cameraman while entering ring. Hunter tried the Pedigree but Orton countered with a backdrop. He then attempted the RKO but Hunter countered. Michaels tagged in, as did Masters.

By the way, does anyone else think Masters would look better bald? Batista, Orton, Kurt Angle; they all looked better bald. Michaels took an extended beating from both heels as The Twilling cannot stop sneezing. If I had money in my sinuses, I’d be a rich man.

[Overrun] Orton scored a nearfall on Michaels after an impressive dropkick. Michaels fought back as he always does. Both men attempted to find their corners for tags. They both made tags, which according to Cole, was vintage Michaels. I guess Shawn nipping up to make a tag is classic him. Hunter hit a spinebuster on Masters and tagged Shawn, who hit a top rope elbow.

Shawn made a call for the band and fought off Orton. Hunter fought Orton to the floor. Shawn went for SCM but Masters ducked and locked in the Masterlock (full nelson). Hunter broke it up and Shawn hit SCM. Triple H locked in a Sharpshooter on Orton as Michaels locked in the worst figure four ever on Masters. Masters tapped...

After the match, Legacy pulled Orton from the ring, but they all started to brawl to the back. Orton came back out to the stage but was leery of what was around him. Backstage, DX beat the crap out of Legacy. They fought to the back. Legacy stole some scrub’s car as DX chased them and Orton looked on from the ring.

Orton addressed the crowd and said his boys would make DX submit this Sunday at Breaking Point. He said he would retain the title as well because it is what he lives for. Despite having a wife and child, the belt is the only thing he deems important in life. John Cena’s music hit and he came out.

Cena ran to the ring and brawled with Orton. He threw Orton around like Ike threw around Tina, but Orton caught him with a DDT. Orton grabbed a chair and slithered into the ring. He picked up Cena and hit a RKO on the chair. It was weak. Orton told Cena he would say “I quit” this Sunday...

Twill’s Two Cents: Very fun main event and even better happenings afterward. I like that DX broke off and fought with Legacy and Orton got his time with Cena. I hope Legacy gets their win on Sunday and of course, I cannot see Cena losing. Stay tuned here as Jason will have much to say about tonight’s show.
