[Q1] The show began with the opening montage and JR hyped The Hardys vs. Edge and Big Show main event. Vickie Guerrero got some New Year's heel heat from the crowd. She mentioned that 2008 was great and 2009 will be better. She also mentioned that Edge will face Jeff Hardy for the WWE title at the Rumble and she said the Royal Rumble participants will be announced later tonight.

Hunter came out to a huge pop for a promo and tells Vickie Happy New Year. He said it’s her favorite time of the year and he talked about the Royal Rumble. He said that he is impatient and asks her to announce the participants. He started to insult her weight by naming numerous restaurants and the crowd chants his name. Vickie got mad and said if Hunter keeps up the insults, he will not be in the Rumble. Then he popped out a Vickie Guerrero action figure to insult her some more. She started to whine and said Hunter is in the Rumble and she said that he should leave.

He said he has one more thing to say and its embarrassing and he mentioned that he was playing with the Vickie action figure and he took the clothes off said the figure is hot. He said he was on the internet and found the nude pictures of Vickie photos. She said she is not aware of the nude photos and Hunter said that there on eBay. He said the auction closes in 5 minutes and he is getting outbid by some guy named ChavoG2009. He mocked her "Excuse Me" line to end the segment.

Backstage, The Great Khali, Ranjin Singh, Finlay and Hornswoggle were posing for pictures before their match which is next. [C]

Mind of Marv: That damn Vickie doll had her face with Mickie James body...what the hell? I always tend to lose my weekly fish dinner after hearing or seeing segments like that. Ugh.

An Umaga vignette is shown for his return...

[Q2] 1. The Great Khali and Finlay squashed Zach Ryder and Curt Hawkins in 4:02. Khali and Hawkins began the match. Khali dominated the heels by applying double head butts and Hornswoggle came in the ring to give the heels double head butts of his own. Khali ended the misery with the Punjabi Plunge. After the match, Hornswoggle got his Tadpole Splash in and the all danced in the ring.

Mind of Marv: It’s a damn shame that the Edgeheads went from Tag Team champs to glorified jobbers. Can we consider this a squash match? In a way, yeah.

The main event was hyped for later tonight... [C]

Eve interviewed Michelle McCool and mentioned that McCool lost her belt and cool. The video of the heel turn was shown from last week. McCool said that Maria was jealous and Maria got what she was deserved and said that Eve should stick to what she do best and shoved the mic in her face.

Edge said it was embarrassing that his wife's pictures are on eBay. Big Show said that the pictures weren't as bad and Vickie ran out. Edge got mad and said that's my wife and I should be embarrassed. Big Show talked smack to Edge and Edge insulted him and said that Show should be embarrassed because he got beat by a flyweight at Wrestlemania 24 (Floyd Mayweather). Edge said should you should knock out Jeff Hardy or how about win the Rumble so he can face him for his WWE Title.

[Q3] Jesse and Festus made their entrance... [C]

2. Ezekiel Jackson and The Brian Kendrick defeated Jesse and Festus in 4:42. The match began with the bell ringing and Festus dominating the heels. Festus got tagged back in and Zeke worked on the bad leg of Festus. The heels took control of the Festus injury until he tagged Jesse in for some quick offense to Kendrick. Zeke won the match with the modified choke slam.

Mind of Marv: The match was pretty eh...I know we can officially add Jesse and Festus to the glorified jobber list. Hey Zeke, what's up with those Kool-Aid red trunks? I'm just saying...

The main event is hyped again... [C]

[Q4] 3. Vladimir Kozlov squashed Hurricane Helms in 4:03. The match began with Helms kicking Kozlov a few times before Kozlov catches Helms to a hip toss and key lock submission hold. Helms managed to get some punches in but Kozlov started to dominate with the Battering Ram and shoulder blocks. Kozlov gave Helms a Samoan drop and the Battering Ram. Kozlov pinned Helms for the victory.

Mind of Marv: Boring ass match. It seems like creative celebrated New Year's early because this show is some mediocre bullshit.

The Royal Rumble participants will be named next. The Behind Enemy Lines trailer was shown. [C]

The show returned with JR in the ring. And he announced that the following stars will be in the match: Triple H, Big Show, Vladimir Kozlov, Shelton Benjamin. Shelton interrupted JR by saying what’s wrong with him. He said he is the odds on favorite to win the Rumble and tells JR to leave. He said he has been the U.S. Champion for six months and wants his 2009 goal to be WWE champion.

He said he is no joke and no one can compare to his abilities. He said there is no comparison and The Undertaker interrupted by saying you forgot someone. The lights went out and The Undertaker appeared behind Shelton and choke slammed the hell out of him. [C]

Mind of Marv: Shelton and Undertaker feud? This may actually work...

[Q5] A Kizarny vignette is shown.

Mind of Marv: Shore's brother better impress me or I will be talking too much shizarny...

Michelle McCool came to the ring for a promo. She said that Eve was right and she owes Maria an apology. She said that she should accept her apology and got a ton of heat from the crowd. She asked for Eve to come out so she can apologize to her also. McCool said that she feels horrible and gave her a fake apology, hug and ass kicking to Eve.

Mind of Marv: Hey, I like this bitchy Michelle McCool.

Backstage, Vickie was concerned about her pictures and Hunter came in and called Chavo a gopher. Vickie demanded an apology and Hunter said she should apologize for the naked pictures. Vickie said Hunter will be competing in Triple Jeopardy which consists of a tables match, a handicap match and a last man standing match.

Mind of Marv: At least we know Chavo is the mascot of Powell's alma mater every week. First they lose a bowl game badly, then they can't sell tickets to the Vikings game. Makes me wanna take a trip to see the Vikings get blasted by the Eagles, haha. An all Hunter Smackdown next week? This reminds me of No Mercy 2007 when it was here in Chicago.

[Q6] MVP was shown looking dejected and said whoever he is gonna wrestle, come on out and get it over with. Kizarny came out and made his odd ass carnie appearance while MVP had the what hell look on his face.

4. Kizarny defeated MVP in 6:30. The match began with Kizarny struggling with a backslide for a nearfall. Kizarny quickly dominated the match with multiple crossbodies. MVP got back on the offense and got some cheers from the crowd. MVP hit a nice belly over the head suplex to Kizarny. MVP attempted a Drive By kick but was kicked in knee. Kizarny started to bang MVP head into the turnbuckle. MVP attempted the Playmaker, but was countered by a double arm DDT by Kizarny for his debut win.

Mr. Kennedy came out with is beard and talked about MVP again by saying he got whopped or whizzipped. And he plugged his movie and did the Kennedy chant.

Mind of Marv: This match was borzarny, with MVP getting more burizarny by the weakzarny. Kizarny is a jokezarny and we may have to wisharny in the bestzarny in his futureany endevarny. Mr. Kennedy is getting annoying as hell, nuff said. You feel mezarny?

The main event is next...[C]

[Q7] The triple jeopardy matches and the tag team titles will be defended next week's show. Edge cut a promo saying naked pictures or not that everyone should respect him and Vickie. He said after the Royal Rumble, he will be the WWE Champion for the seventh time. He mentioned that he is still married to Vickie and said that Jeff is a screw up. He said that fans point the blame at him and said it’s embarrassing that Jeff Hardy is champion. He said when his title reign is over, blame him. [C]

[Q8] 5. WWE Champion Jeff Hardy and ECW Champion Matt Hardy defeated Edge and Big Show in. Matt and Edge began the match with Matt giving Edge multiple arm drag takeovers. Matt worked on Edge and tagged Jeff for some quick offense. The Hardy threw Edge on Show and he caught him. [C]

The match returned with the heels beating on Jeff. Jeff applied a Whisper in the Wind to Edge for the nearfall. Matt got tagged in missed a moonsault on Edge. Edge tagged in Show and chopped Matt chest up. The heels began to beat on Matt for while. Jeff tried to make a tag but Show continued to beat on Matt with body shots, chops and a headbutt.

Matt tried to tag again, but Edge didn't allow him to do so and placed him in an armbar submission. Matt broke out but got kicked in the head by Edge. All of a sudden, Show leaves the ring and the match turns into a handicapped match. Matt attempted a Twist of Fate but Edge applied an inverted face buster to Matt. Edge attempted a spear but was countered into a side effect by Matt. Jeff got the hot tag from Matt and he gave Edge quick offense. Jeff applied Poetry in Motion and Matt applied the bulldog and the Twist of Fate. Jeff Hardy gave Edge the Swanton Bomb for the win.

Mind of Marv: This wasn't as bad of a main event but it didn't save the show. The show overall was mediocre because certain mid-carders have really gone down the toilet especially in the first hour. I don't know what’s going on, but RAW is rising and Smackdown is slowly falling.
