2/26 Kester's WWE Main Event Live Coverage Review: A ten-man tag, Natalya and Eva Marie vs. Aksana and Alicia Fox, Titus O'Neil vs. Darren Young, and Damien Sandow vs. Sin Cara
Feb 26, 2014 - 07:00 PM

By Ryan Kester

Main Event on Ion Television
Taped earlier in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

[Q1] A graphic dedicating the show to the late Nelson Frazier Jr, more commonly known as Big Daddy V, opened the show...

1. Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Los Matadores, and El Torito vs. Curtis Axel, Ryback, Drew McIntyre, Heath Slater, and Jinder Mahal in a ten-man tag. Goldust and Curtis Axel started the match, with Goldust quickly getting the upper hand. Ryback entered the match and established control for the heels... [C]

Back from the break, the heels continued to dominate until El Torito got the hot tag. Torito hit a bit of flashy offense before the match broke down. Torito and Slater had a pose off. Torito hit a huracarana facebuster and covered Slater for the pinfall victory…

Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Los Matadores, and El Torito defeated Curtis Axel, Ryback, Drew McIntyre, Heath Slater, and Jinder Mahal in 6:51 of TV time.

[Q2] Byron Saxton jumped off of the announce table and asked Slater how he felt about being pinned by El Torito. Slater said it was bull and that he wasn't answering anymore questions. "Slater has spoken," he finished…

The announcers recapped footage of The Wyatt Family attacking John Cena… [C]

Ryan's Reaction: The match was an absolute mess but Torito's offense was impressive.

2. Natalya and Eva Marie vs. Aksana and Alicia Fox. Fox and Natalya started, and Natalya controlled the action until he tagged in Eva Marie.

Marie hit a series of arm whips, but she went to the well one too many times and Fox was able to counter. Fox hit a tilt-o-whirl backbreaker and began to wear down Marie. Marie tagged Natalya back into the match and Natalya ripped into Aksana.

Natalya ran into Marie by accident and Aksana was able to capitalize with a spinebuster for the pinfall victory…

Aksana and Alicia Fox defeated Eva Marie and Natalya in 3:52.

Ryan's Reaction: Marie and Aksana are still green as grass, but the match was too short for their clunkiness to be an issue.

[Q3] [C] The Raw Rebound focused on Undertaker's return…

Barrett Ascended on his lift an informed the audience that he has some bad news. This show's topic covered why Spring Break is going to be our downfall…

A recap of Randy Orton mocking Batista on Monday aired… [C]

Michael Cole interviewed JBL about NXT…

[Q4] 3. Titus O'Neil vs. Darren Young. O'Neill dominated early and manhandled Young around the ring. Young managed to catch O'Neill with a surprise rollup… [C]

Darren Young defeated Titus O'Neill in 4:02.

Ryan's Reaction: Waste of a match. O'Neill gained nothing from his offense because he never picked up the pace, and Young's rollup did nothing to give him a boost. It's a shame that a tag split feud has so little impact that it can serve as a throwaway match on Main Event.

4. Sin Cara vs. Damien Sandow. The Sin Cara mood lighting was in full effect.

Sandow established control early. He grounded the high flier with a series of slams and rest holds. Sin Cara managed to rally back and got in a few flashy spots.

Sandow returned fire and became frustrated when Sin Cara kicked out of his assaults. Sin Cara hit an impressed one-armed powerbomb for a great near fall.

Sandow locked in his new submission finisher, but Sin Cara managed to kick him off. Moments later, Sin Cara nailed his high-angle senton for the 1-2-3.

Sin Cara defeated Damien Sandow in 5:40.

Ryan's Reaction: Good match, and showed enough promise that I want to see these guys go again with a longer match. The mood lighting needs to stop. Overall, this was a very lackluster edition of Main Event. The first three matches were complete throwaways, and if it wasn't for the final match, this whole show would have been a complete wash.
