10/7 Twilling's ECW Live Coverage: Matt Hardy remains the ECW Champion; CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, and Ricky Ortiz vs. The Miz, John Morrison, Ted Dibiase, and Cody Rhodes
By Rich Twilling Oct 7, 2008 - 09:01 PM

ECW on The SciFi Network
Taped in Spokane, WA

[Q1] The opening video aired and fireworks lit up the stage. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker welcomed us to the show. Striker plugged the main event eight man tag team match...

1. Tommy Dreamer and Finlay (with Hornswoggle) defeated Jack Swagger and Mike Knox in 8:56. Finlay and Knox began the match. Dreamer tagged in and worked over Knox. He went after Swagger (Grisham called him "Jake Swagger" before correcting himself) and the distraction allowed Knox to hit a bicycle kick on Dreamer... [C]

Knox scored a nearfall on Dreamer after a delayed vertical suplex. Striker called Hornswoggle a little turd. Finlay received the hot tag and took full advantage by clearing the ring of Swagger and hitting several moves on Knox. The referee was distracted and Hornswoggle hit a tadpole splash on Knox. When the referee turned his attention to Horny, Finlay hit Knox with the shillegleh for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: Solid action. Knox and Swagger looked good in defeat.

[Q2] Grisham said they were celebrating the 31 days of Halloween. Backstage, Tiffany was dressed as the devil and Teddy Long was Dracula. Jamie Noble came in and said he was dressed as the greatest wrestler of all time. Tiffany asked, "You're dressed as Shawn Michaels?" Mark Henry and Teddy Atlas barged in.

Henry wanted Matt Hardy tonight but Teddy said no. Jamie stood up to him and told him not to disrespect him in front of his new woman. Henry said if he could not have Hardy to feast on, he would settle for Noble as an appetizer. Noble told Teddy to make it happen, so he did...

Twill's Two Cents: Fun segment. Tiffany is ridiculously hot. Jamie was humorous here and Henry showed good fire in his comments.

The Boogeyman is coming back... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: Whoopty Doo.

2. Mark Henry (with Tony Atlas) defeated Jamie Noble in 3:18. Striker put over WWE superstars as the best athletes in the world. He took a shot at Bert Blyleven. Funny that he picked a Minnesota Twin. The finish came when Noble attempted a high crossbody but Henry countered with the World's Strongest Slam for the win...

He continued the onslaught before Matt Hardy hit the ring. He knocked Henry into a corner. Hardy hit the Twist of Fate on Atlas. Henry hit the WSS on Hardy and followed that up with two big splashes. He walked over to Atlas and slapped at him, telling him to snap out of it... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: Solid post match attack by Henry. If they are going to continue the feud, he has to look strong and he did just that here.

[Q3] In case you missed Raw, the Raw Rebound aired and lasted about as long as the actual episode...

Matt Striker did a damn good Steve Austin impression at ringside...

Footage aired of what happened about four minutes ago. Sure, reward those people that just tuned in as opposed to those who have been watching the entire show...

CM Punk, Evan Bourne, Ricky Ortiz, and Kofi Kingston made their entrances for the main event. Grisham dropped a "Jamaican me crazy."... [C]

[Q4] The face team looked like a bunch of douche bags as they waited for the heels to make their entrances...

3. CM Punk, Evan Bourne, Ricky Ortiz, and Kofi Kingston defeated The Miz, John Morrison, Ted Dibiase, and Cody Rhodes (with Manu) in 11:25. The face team gained and kept the advantage early on. The heel team tried to come in illegally, but Ortiz and Kingston hit dropkicks... [C]

Bourne hit a standing moonsault for a nearfall during the break. Interference by Manu helped his team gain the advantage. Miz and Morrison exchanged multiple tags while trading offensive maneuvers on Bourne. Another distraction by Manu allowed Morrison to hit the Moonlight Drive for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: Decent match that probably did not live up to expectations. Maybe some of these guys are not quite where WWE thinks they are. I do like how they plugged them as the future of the business.
