7/26 Kester's WWE Superstars Live Coverage Review: Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks vs. Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel, Zack Ryder vs. Michael McGillicutty, Layla vs. Natalya, and Sin Cara vs. Drew McIntyre

By Ryan Kester

WWE Superstars on WWE.com
Taped earlier in Kansas City and St Louis, Missouri.

1. Sin Cara vs. Drew McIntyre. Sin Cara outpaced McIntyre early, but he managed to gain control and spent the majority of the match attacking Sin Cara's shoulders. McIntyre hit a turnbuckle Powerbomb off of one of Sin Cara's hope spots for a near fall. McIntyre went back to rest holds that targeted Sin Cara's arm.

Sin Cara hit a tornado DDT out of nowhere to regain control. Sin Cara hit a flurry of flashy offense and pout McIntyre away when he reversed a second Powerbomb attempt into a victory roll…

Sin Cara defeated Drew McIntyre in 6:44.

Ryan's Reaction: Decent match, but not as good as their first encounter. McIntyre deserves a push. I know I say that every time he appears on this show, and I will continue saying it until it's not true.

[C] A recap video of the 1k edition of Raw aired, finalizing with Punk's heel turn…

[C] 2. Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks vs. Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel. Kidd and Gabriel controlled the early action, but the heels quickly took control and began to work over Gabriel. Reks clotheslined Gabriel on the floor as the show went to break…

[C] Back from the break, Reks continued to work over Gabriel. Reks and Hawkins controlled the majority of the match. Eventually, Gabriel got the hot tag to Kidd, who stormed the ring and floored his opponents.

The finish came when Kidd hit a blockbuster on Reks for the 1-2-3…

Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel defeated Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks in 6:04.

Ryan's Reaction: Decent match. There were plenty of fun spots, but the crowd was flat for the whole affair. A crowd can make a standard tag match amazing, but it can also make that same match boring by sitting on their hands.

[C] 3. Zack Ryder vs. Michael McGillicutty.Ryder outwrestled McGillicutty early, but McGillicutty kicked one of Ryder's legs out from under him before taking control. McGillicutty worked over Ryder with his heel offense.

Ryder eventually made a comeback and connected with the Broski Boot for a near fall. McGillicutty hit a Saito suplex for a near fall of his own. Ryder followed up moments later with the Rough Ryder to put McGillicutty away…

Zack Ryder defeated Michael McGillicutty in 5:58.

Ryan's Reaction: Something about McGillicutty just bugs me. He tries to be "intense" but he accomplishes that with cartoony crazy faces and screams that come off as hollow and contrived. I wish they just let him work a mat technician character because that seems to be more his speed and would fit with his in ring style. As a result, with McGillicutty being focused on so heavily in this match, it fell really, really flat for this viewer.

[C] The show ended with the Raw Rebound, which recapped Punk's heel turn…again.

Ryan's Reaction: Not the greatest edition of Superstars I've seen. The first two matches were ok but nothing special and the main event was a letdown.
