4/12 Kester's WWE Superstars Live Coverage Review: Kofi Kingston vs. Curt Hawkins, Kelly Kelly vs. Brie Bella, and Ezekiel Jackson vs. Jinder Mahal
Apr 12, 2012 - 03:00 PM

By Ryan Kester

Superstars on WWE.com
Taped earlier in Washington, D.C. and Hampton, Virginia.

1. Kofi Kingston vs. Curt Hawkins (w/ Tyler Reks). Hawkins rolled to the floor early and plotted with Reks. When he returned to the ring, he and Kingston worked some back-and-forth chain wrestling.

Hawkins eventually grounded Kingston and the crowd chanted Kingston to his feet. Kingston did some acrobatics before clotheslining Hawkins to the floor and following with a suicide dive. Kingston threw Hawkins back in the ring and Reks distracted Kingston long enough for Hawkins to attack him from behind.

Back from commercial, Hawkins continued to wear down Kingston. Kingston had a few hope spots but Hawkins managed to retain control.

Eventually, Kingston rallied the crowd and managed to turn the tide with a pendulum kick. Kingston hit is high-angle cross body and S.O.S. Hawkins managed to make the ropes to break the pin.

Moments later, Kingston caught Hawkins with Trouble in Paradise for the pinfall victory… [C]

Kofi Kingston defeated Curt Hawkins in 7:50.

Ryan's Rant: Decent match, but the two seemed to have off timing at portions of the match. Still, the crowd loved Kingston and they popped every time he was on offense, which made for something that was at least fun to watch.

2. Kelly Kelly vs. Brie Bella (w/ Nikki Bella). Brie went on offense early, but Kelly quickly dragged her to the floor and did her screaming head smash routine.

Brie begged Kelly off, but Kelly spanked her instead. Brie responded with a sidewalk slam and a few stomps to Kelly's lumbar. Brie continued to target Kelly's back.

Kelly got back on offense, used her stinkface, and rolled up Brie for the win… [C]

Kelly Kelly defeated Brie Bella in 3:57.

Ryan's Rant: Kelly Kelly is obnoxious. She screams when she sells, she screams when she's on offense, and her finisher is a roll-up. She's over as all hell with the crowd, though, so I wish WWE could either find her a non-wrestling role to fulfill or actually teach her to wrestle.

A video package featuring wrestlers and legends discussing the Hell in a Cell match from WrestleMania aired…[C]

3. Ezekiel Jackson vs. Jinder Mahal. Jackson overpowered Mahal early, but Mahal hit a neckbreaker and went on offense. Mahal targeted his attacks on Jackson's neck.

Eventually, Jackson made a comeback, hit a series of clotheslines. It was short-lived, however, as Mahal connected with a jumping knee to Jackson's back. Mahal followed up with the Camel Clutch for the submission victory… [C]

Jinder Mahal defeated Ezekiel Jackson in 3:40.

Ryan's Rant: That match was almost exclusively Mahal, who was limited to his striking offense because of Jackson's size. Short match with a one-sided-yet-limited move set made for an unexciting affair.

The remainder of the show featured the Raw Rebound, which focused on Brock Lesnar and John Cena's rivalry.

Ryan's Rant: The first match was somewhat entertaining, but this was otherwise a completely skippable edition of Superstars. There was nothing really worth going out of your way to see.
