NXT on WWE.com
Taped earlier in Charlotte, North Carolina.
1. Percy Watson defeated Tyler Reks in 3:38. Reks took control early and hit Percy with a few power moves before locking in a rest hold.
Watson battled back, hit a few dropkicks and hit his Showtime Splash for a near fall. Reks tried to battle back and went to the top, but Watson caught him on the way down with a dropkick and covered him for the win.
After the match, Curt Hawkins ran into the ring and chased off Watson…
Ryan's Rant: Boring match that amounted to nothing. Watson has a very limited move set and Reks is the one they should be pushing.
Backstage, Johnny Curtis was flirting with Kaitlyn when Maxine walked up. She was jealous and Curtis tried to calm her down. Curtis kissed his fingers before wiping them on Maxine's mouth. She was not fond of this.
Derrick Bateman showed up a moment later, and Maxine jumped him with a kiss. The camera then panned out to reveal Derrick's mother standing right next to him. Bateman ran off and his mother warned Maxine that if she hurt her son, she would take her down.
2. Johnny Curtis and Tyson Kidd beat Yoshi Tatsu and Trent Barreta in 4:25. Tatsu and Barreta took control first and worked quick tags to wear down Johnny Curtis.
Curtis managed to catch Barreta with a shoulder block and the heels took their turn making quick tags. Barreta managed to hit his version of whisper in the wind and got the hot tag to Tatsu.
Tatsu lit up Curtis with kicks and set up for his flying spinning back kick, but Curtis avoided the maneuver. Curtis immediately hit a Michinoku Driver for the clean pin…
Ryan's Rant: Formulaic tag match. Nothing to really pick apart, but it didn't have anything to make it memorable. If nothing else, Curtis can hit a great Michinoku Driver.
The Raw Rebound focused on the Piper's Pit opener with Roddy Piper and John Cena…
3. Alicia Fox beat Maxine. Maxine took control early and overpowered Fox. Derrick Bateman and his mother way their way onto the stage.
Maxine was momentarily distracted and Alicia hit her new flipping leg drop finisher for the win…
Ryan's Rant: I'm really not attempting to be negative, but that was another pointless match that never got out of first gear.
4. Derrick Bateman beat Darren Young and Titus O'Neil to earn a match on Smackdown in 8:50. Young went to ringside early and watched as O'Neil tore into Derrick Bateman. Young attacked when O'Neil went for a cover and Titus turned his attention to attacking Young.
Leading up to the break, the two heels took turns getting beat down by O'Neil. Bateman and Young huddled on the floor as the show went to break…
Back from commercial, Bateman and Young had O'Neil in the corner and were raining strikes down on the big man. Young went for the pin, and Bateman broke the count. Bateman worked over Young as Titus sold on the mat.
Young fought back and went for a superplex, but O'Neil got involved and he three men did a Tower of Doom spot.
O'Neil recovered first and he focused on Young. Both men ended up on the apron and Young hit a neckbreaker. Bateman knocked Young out of the way and stole the pinfall.
After the match, Bateman called for Maxine to come to the ring. Her music and graphic played, but she was nowhere to be found. Tamina and JTG walked out and Tamina informed Bateman that Maxine packed her stuff and she left with Johnny Curtis. Bateman was not pleased.
Ryan's Rant: The match was better than I expected, but I still wonder what WWE sees in O'Neil. He is very green and his gimmick involves talking about the NFL and barking. Overall, this show was very lacking. The little tidbits of the Maxine/Bateman storyline were done well, but they are not work sitting through the uninspiring wrestling. I don't blame the wrestlers as much as I do whoever runs this show as I have seen all of them work a better match when they are actually given a decent amount f time to work.
