11/17 Kester's WWE Superstars Live Coverage Review: Alex Riley vs. Drew McIntyre, The Uso Brothers vs. Epico and Primo, Tyson Kidd vs. Trent Barreta
Nov 17, 2011 - 03:30 PM

Superstars on WWE.com
Taped earlier in Boston, Massachusetts and Bridgeport, Connecticut.

1. Alex Riley defeated Drew McIntyre in 7:42. Riley took control early, and quickly locked McIntyre in a rest hold. Riley then backed McIntyre into a corner and hit him with a series of punches before falling into a DDT… [C]

Back from a commercial-less break, McIntyre had Riley on the mat and was working over his legs. Riley almost immediately started fighting back, bit McIntyre hit Riley with a modified kneebreaker in a cool spot. McIntyre followed by wrapping Riley's legs around a steel post before locking in a hanging figure-four leglock.

McIntyre continue to target Riley's legs, but Riley made a comeback to a decent pop from the crowd. Riley hit a spinebuster for a near fall. McIntyre answered with a running front kick. Moments later, Riley hit the Final Score for the pin… [C]

Ryan's Rant: McIntyre is at his best when he's working over someone's legs. He has a ton of talent and it's a shame WWE can't come up with something for him to do.

2. Primo and Epico defeated The Uso Brothers in 4:56. The Usos took control early and worked over Epico, but the heels quickly gained control and began attacking Jimmy Uso... [C]

Back from the break. Epico continued his dominance of Jimmy Uso. Epico and Primo worked some quick tags and hit Jimmy with some double-team maneuvers.

Jimmy eventually got the hot tag to Jey, who stormed the ring and attacked both heels. Jey nailed Epico with a wrecking ball and Primo had to break up the pin. Jimmy returned to the ring and took out Primo. Epico hit the backstabber on Jey Uso for the win… [C]

Ryan's Rant: I know some have already written off Epico, Primo, and by extension Hunico as stereotypes, but I at least want people to wait for them to actually do something stereotypical before they get upset. So far, they've done nothing as bad as what Eddie and Chavo did back in the day. Better yet, unlike the faction people complain they are a rip off of, they can actually wrestle. Good tag match, if a bit short. I look forward to more from both teams.

3. Tyson Kidd beat Trent Barreta in 4:01. The two worked some excellent and fast-paced chain wrestling that the announcers didn't notice because they were discussing Twitter.

Kidd gained control after kicking Barreta in the face. Kidd then locked in a rest hold. Barreta fought out and hit Kidd with a desperate neckbreaker before catching his breath. Barreta hit a corkscrew moonsault leg drop to a standing Kidd for a near fall. Impressive.

Kidd battled back and hit a brainbuster out of nowhere for the surprise pin… [C]

Ryan's Rant: I did not know that WWE still allowed brain busters. Very effective in making that move look like a huge deal consider how rarely we see them.

The remainder of the show was the Raw Rebound, which featured the Rock's return to WWE television and the final segment with him, John Cena and their Survivor Series opponents, The Miz and R-truth.

Ryan's Rant: Good show. Not the longest matches I've seen on Superstars, but they were all entertaining.
