10/20 Kester's WWE Superstars Live Coverage Review: Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne vs. Michael McGillicutty and Drew McIntyre, Ted DiBiase vs. Jinder Mahal, and Heath Slater vs. Santino Marella

WWE Superstars on WWE.com
Taped earlier in Mexico City, Mexico.

1. Jinder Mahal defeated Ted DiBiase in 9:17. Jinder started the match by jawing with the crowd in Punjabi. DiBiase put a stop to that with some quick chain wrestling. DiBiase held onto control until Mahal caught DiBiase with a knee.

Jinder wrapped DiBiase up in the ring apron and nailed with another knee for a two-count. Mahal continued to work DiBiase over with knees and a suplex. Mahal locked in a rest hold. When DiBiase tried to battle out, Mahal hit a butterfly suplex. After DiBiase made a failed attempt to come back, Mahal dumped DiBiase to the floor… [C]

After the break, Mahal had DiBiase in another rest hold. He quickly battled back, however, and hit a slingshot on Mahal to the corner. DiBiase picked up the pace with a few running strikes. DiBiase hit a sky high powerbomb for a near fall.

DiBiase went for Dream Street but Mahal rolled through and hit another high knee. Moments later, DiBiase hit Mahal with a dropkick and went to the top rope. Mahal cut him off and hit the Sands of Time for the victory.

Ryan's Rant: Good match that saw Mahal get more offense in one match than he has had out of the entirety of the last two months.

2. Santino Marella beat Heath Slater in 5:07.Josh Matthews talked about MMA, Marella Martial Arts. Funny. Marella worked his comedy set early and Slater ended up pissed. He charged Santino, only to be bested by the small man.

Slater quickly gained control and chopped Santino down. He worked a couple of kicks and choked Santino on the ropes. Slater then locked in a rest hold.

Santino eventually came back and hit his comedy hip toss, headbutt, and set up for the Cobra. He was successful with the strike, and picked up the pin… [C]

Ryan's Rant: Comedy matches on Superstars? Really, WWE? The only thing this show has going for it is its usual lack of filler.

The Raw Rebound focused on the rivalry between the Miz and R-Truth and C.M. Punk and Triple H… [C]

Back from the break, the announcers ran through the Vengeance PPV card.

Air Boom made their entrance for the main event… [C]

Drew McIntyre and Michael McGillicutty made their entrance to McIntyre's music.

3. Air Boom defeated Michael McGillicutty and Drew McIntyre in 12:57. Evan Bourne and McIntyre started the match. McIntyre controlled for a moment before bumping very well for Bourne's flashy offense. Bourne quickly tagged in Kofi Kingston, who was immediately cut down by McIntyre.

Kofi started a comeback, but McIntyre tagged in McGillicutty. Kofi tagged in Bourne, who stepped off of McGillicutty's back and hit a standing moonsault onto McGillicutty's back. I repeat, Bourne hit a standing moonsault on McGillicutty off of McGillicutty's back. Wow.

Bourne locked in a modified leglock before tagging Kingston back into the match. The two faces knocked the heels to the floor, and the show went to break… [C]

Back from commercial, McGillicutty was working over Kofi Kingston with some strikes. He locked in a rest hold, but Kofi fought out and tagged in Bourne. Bourne took out McGillicutty and set up for AirBourne, but McIntyre cut him off.

McIntyre tagged in and worked over the fallen Bourne. He hit a beautiful snap suplex. The heels worked a quick series of tags and took turns working over Bourne.

Bourne eventually got the hot tag after hitting a back body drop on McGillicutty. Kingston stormed the ring and took out both heels. He hit the boom drop on McIntyre and set up for Trouble In Paradise.

McIntyre moved, but Kofi caught him with a springboard high cross body. McGillicutty broke the pin, and Kingston quickly disposed of him. Kingston hit Trouble in Paradise on McIntyre and tagged in Bourne, who hit AirBourne for the 1-2-3.

Ryan's Rant: Excellent main event. Plenty of action and the majority of the match was Air Boom and McIntyre, who are all leagues ahead of McGillicutty in the ring. McGillicutty is not a bad worker or anything, but he is completely robotic with his move set.

Overall, this edition of Superstars was ok. The opening match reminded me why I liked Mahal in the first place, the Santino match was a Santino match, and the main event was well done. I wish they would go back to having longer matches and saving the Raw Rebound for the end of the show, but at least we actually had a match or two this week that were worth watching.
