7/15 Twilling's ECW Live Coverage: Matt and Jeff Hardy reunite to face John Morrison and The Miz, Mark Henry, Tony Atlas, Tommy Dreamer, More new talent?

ECW on The SciFi Network
Taped 7/15/08 in Charlotte, NC
[Q1] A video recap aired of last week’s situation focusing on Mark Henry, Tony Atlas, Tommy Dreamer, and Colin Delaney. Unfortunately, they also aired the terrible announcing of Atlas…
The opening video aired and fireworks lit up the stage. Mike Adamle welcomed us to the show and plugged tonight’s main event of Matt and Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison and The Miz…
Tazz stood in the middle of the ring and introduced “The World’s Strongest Champion.” Mark Henry and Tony Atlas came out to the ring. Tazz said Henry and Atlas wanted to answer the question of “Why?” Atlas said if we all “remumbered,” he said he would carry Henry’s bags for a payday. He said he is a legend and would only carry the bags of someone like Henry.
Atlas said Henry wanted to remind everyone he was the world’s strongest man. He grabbed a frying pan and offered anyone the opportunity to bend it. Some guy with a Charlotte Bobcats shirt came into the ring. He confirmed that the frying pan was real. He tried to bend it and it barely budged.
Mark Henry then took the frying pan and rolled it up. Atlas said the only person that could do that was the World’s Strongest Champion, Mark Henry. Thankfully, Tommy Dreamer’s music hit and he came out to the ring. Dreamer said he was going to win the title on Sunday and since he has been working out, he wanted to give bending the frying pan a shot.
Dreamer tried to bend it but was unable to. Then he nailed Mark Henry in the head with the frying pan. Henry sold it for a moment as Dreamer celebrated up the aisle… [C]
Twill’s Two Cents: Will someone please ban Tony Atlas from speaking? He butchers the English language worse than just about anyone. I am glad we are getting the main event tonight because that segment sucked.
[Q2] 1. Mike Knox defeated Shannon Moore in 2:26. Shannon received a nice hometown pop. Knox overpowered Moore for the first minute and a half, but Shannon used his quickness to hit a top rope hurricarana for a nearfall. Immediately following that, Knox hit his finisher for the win…
Twill’s Two Cents: Adamle wanted to put the ECW Title on Knox tonight. He kept asking if Knox would be a future ECW Champion and Tazz tried to steer him back in the right direction. Knox looked good here utilizing his power moves.
The Raw Rebound aired showing JBL’s attack of John Cena in between Shane and Stephanie’s pleas for everyone to play nice. They showed a couple of different camera angles this time and it still sucked… [C]
[Q3] 2. Evan Bourne defeated Chavo Guerrero (with Bam Neely) in 3:03. Bourne hit a dropkick and spinning thrust kick before locking in an armbar. Bourne went to the top but Chavo knocked him to the floor. Bourne took a sick bump on the apron on the way down.
Back in the ring, Chavo scored a two count with a belly to belly suplex. After an athletic exchange, Bourne hit a standing moonsault for a nearfall. After Chavo missed a top rope move, Evan hit the shooting star press for the impressive win…
Twill’s Two Cents: Good three minute match and a very nice, clean victory for Bourne. Bourne could be something special.
Backstage, Colin Delaney was far out of his league talking to Tiffany when Mark Henry and Tony Atlas approached. Henry told Tiffany to take off as Atlas told Delaney he had nothing to worry about because they knew he had nothing to do with the Dreamer attack. Henry locked in a bearhug anyway and threw Colin onto some carts. Tiffany checked on him… [C]
Footage aired of C.M. Punk’s countout victory over Kane as well as Kane’s subsequent meltdown. If you missed it, Batista made the save and the confrontation between Punk and Batista was one of the best parts of the show…
Adamle and Tazz ran down the card for The Great American Bash and there was no mention of what happened to Cena last night…
John Morrison and The Miz made their ring entrance, followed by Matt and Jeff Hardy, who came out to Jeff’s music… [C]
[Q4] 3. Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy defeated The Miz and John Morrison in a non-title match in approximately 16:56. The match was already underway when the show came back from commercial. That is so annoying. Matt and Miz were in the ring. Jeff tagged in and springboarded from the apron to hit a dropkick. Morrison was able to tag in and he and Jeff traded offense.
Matt tagged in and went for a Twist of Fate on Morrison, but Miz made a blind tag and closelined Matt. Morrison tagged back in and grounded Hardy near their corner. Matt countered a piledriver attempt into a Russian Leg Sweep.
Jeff and Miz tagged in at the same time. Jeff took care of Miz as Matt disposed of Morrison. They hit Poetry in Motion and as Jeff went to the top rope, Morrison pulled Miz to the floor… [C]
Back from commercial, even with the match ongoing, they showed highlights of the JBL attack on Cena again. They even threw in a corny portion of Cena’s promo last night…
Morrison had a reverse chinlock applied on Jeff. Miz tagged in and hit a side suplex for a two count. He continued to work on the back by driving multiple knees into Jeff’s spine. Miz missed his corner closeline but tagged Morrison at the same time. Morrison hit a combination move for another nearfall.
[Overrun] Jeff hit a jawbreaker and the referee counted both men. Miz got the tag and knocked Matt from the apron. Miz put Jeff in the tree of woe. He tried a move from the top but Jeff pushed him off. He remained on the top rope and hit the Whisper in the Wind. Both men made tags.
Hardy hit the bulldog/closeline combination with Miz on the apron. Morrison reversed an irish whip into a hotshot for a two count. Matt hit a Razor’s Edge into a powerbomb but Miz broke up the pin. Morrison hit the Moonlight Drive and made the cover, but Jeff hit the Swanton Bomb, allowing Matt to pick up the pinfall…
Twill’s Two Cents: Good match. Commercial breaks tore into it, but the action was fast paced and very entertaining. They never made mention of their match on the draft show, but Matt and Jeff got their win back. Although the match doesn’t mean much, sometimes good wrestling can erase the memories of an otherwise bad show.
