7/19 Shore's NXT Live Coverage: Hornswoggle continues to chase Maryse, and Titus O'Neil vs. Darren Young
Jul 19, 2011 - 09:00 PM

By Chris Shore

WWE NXT on WWE.com
Taped earlier in Minneapolis, Minn.

The opening video aired, and Todd Grisham and William Regal checked in on commentary. They hyped a replay of the last segment on last night's Raw…Maryse and Matt Striker were in the ring with a heavy bag. Maryse introduced the rookies who came to the ring with the generic music.

Maryse ran down the Redemption points total and Matt Striker introduced the dummy challenge…or something like that. There was a picture of Michael Cole on the heavy bag and the challenge is to wrestle the bag.

Derrick Bateman went first and said the biggest dummy here was Titus. He hit a couple of elbows and a back drop driver--which he yelled out--. Darren Young slapped the bag down and said he refused to be a part of the competition. He said he would show what he could do later when he beat Titus O'Neil. He said he was going to put his size 13 across O'Neill's lips and ran from the ring.

Titus dared Bateman to do what he did to the bag to him. Bateman didn't do anything and Titus said he thought so. He said he was going to beat Darren Young later and then threw the heavy bag at him. The fans picked Titus as the winner…

Shore's Slant: Wow, after a great PPV and a hot ending to Raw, this is what I get to follow up with. Hard to stay positive in this case, especially when it was so bad on its merits. Will this show ever end?

Vladimir Kozlov made his entrance, followed by JTG. JTG cut a promo on the way to the ring, but I can't understand him…[C]

1. Vladimir Kozlov defeated JTG at 5:28. JTG went right at Kozlov and shoved him. He tied up in the ropes and got a cheap shot in to take control, but Kozlov powered back and hit his finisher for the win…

Backstage, Hornswoggle ran up on Maryse and showed her the package he got last week. She said it wasn't her. He grabbed her leg and she grabbed his box, poured it on his head, and shoved him to the floor. She walked off and some guy brought Horny another package. This one had what looked like a stuffed Android character and Horny looked confused…

In another part of backstage, Yoshi Tatsu turned a corner and looked shocked. The camera showed Yoshi's shrine had been completely destroyed and his action figure ripped apart.Yoshi lost it and screamed…[C]

Shore's Slant: Nothing is working on this show. Not the matches, the stories, nothing. What a waste.

2. Titus O'Neill (w/Hornswoggle) defeated Darren Young at 11:10. They ran the ropes to start and Titus hit a powerslam. He destroyed Young all over the place and then threw him to the floor. Young tried to rally, but it didn't happen. He went to the apron and hit a neckbreaker there. Both guys recovered as Derrick Bateman walked to ringside with the Cole picture…[C]

Back from commercial, Young and Titus went back and forth with mostly Young in control. He hit a leg drop on a prone Titus on the apron and worked a rest hold while Bateman worked the crowd at ringside. Young lifted Titus for his finisher and Hornswoggle distracted the ref. Titus slipped out and hit the ropes. Young tried for a drop kick, but Bateman swept O'Neill's leg, causing Young to crash to the ground. Titus followed with his finisher for the win…[C]

Shore's Slant: A very bad show this week. At least we get a chance to watch the finish from Raw last night. I just hope we get the fairly passable NXT next week, because we got the "Why the hell is this show on" NXT this week.

The announce team setup a video that replayed Triple H relieving Vince McMahon of his duties last night…
