6/30 Kester's WWE Superstars Live Coverage: Chris Masters vs. JTG, a six-man tag match, and Gail Kim vs. Beth Phoenix
Jun 30, 2011 - 04:00 PM

By Ryan Kester

WWE Superstars on WWE.com
Taped earlier in Phoenix, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada .

1. Beth Phoenix defeated Gail Kim in 4:00. Gail Kim went for a huracarana early only for her to be caught by Beth Phoenix. The two traded several move attempts, with Gail's speed and technical skill thwarted by Beth's raw power.

Beth ended up trying to go to the top only for Gail to cut her off and get a near fall. Gail then locked in an Octopus hold that Stanford called the "Flying Dragon." I like it. Beth battled out and started to work over Gail. He hit a springboard suplex for a great near fall.

Beth went for a scoop slam but Kim managed to reverse it into a fantastic roll-up attempt for another near fall. A few moments later, Beth hit the Glam Slam for the pinfall victory.

After the match, the two shook hands and Beth raised Gail's hand… [C]

Ryan's Rant: Entertaining match between these two. If they just slapped a storyline and let these two compete they could turn the Divas division around.

Back from the break, JTG cut a promo on Las Vegas and call them "Las Haters, Nevada." He called them all haters and told them to boo him and how it felt good. He rambled on for a few more moments with and told them to "bet on fly." There was no reaction whatsoever so he told the crowd to "quit hatin'." Ok, JTG.

2. Chris Masters beat JTG in 4:07 masters went for the Masterlock early and JTG got away. Shocking. Masters flair chopped JTG several times and hit him with a huge suplex. JTG tripped masters into the corner and then hit a dropkick from the second rope to Masters' back. JTG then locked in a rest hold and the crowd started chanting "You Suck."

Masters hit a Samoan drop out of nowhere to regain control. He worked his move set on JTG and locked in the Masterlock to knock out JTG… [C]

Ryan's Rant: That promo couldn't have been anymore craptastic. You want boos, but then you tell them to quit hating when they give them to you? I don't think there is anything redeemable about JTG and now that R-Truth is a heel his gimmick is completely eclipsed. The match was a throwaway and a typical JTG mach.

3. Alicia Fox (w/ Rosa Mendez) beat Kaitlyn (w/ Natalya) in 3:04. The two traded control several times in the early going. Eventually, Fox gained control and targeted Kaitlyn's left arm. Kaitlyn tried to battle back at one point with a dragon whip and a flapjack. It was all for aught, however, as Fox hit her scissor kick not long after for the win… [C]

Ryan's Rant: Short and pointless. After seeing the Divas match from earlier in the show, this match just became an even bigger let down.

After the break, the announcers took us to the Raw Rebound, which focused on the Raw Roulette gimmick and Punk's historic promo.

The Usos were on the stage to perform their pre-match Haka. I love it, and the crowd went absolutely crazy for it… [C]

4. The Uso Brothers and Trent Barreta beat Tyson Kidd, Justin Gabriel, and Heath Slater in 13:38 Tyson shaved his idiot spike off his head. Thank the Lord.

Barreta and Kidd started the match and worked some great chain wrestling in the early going. Both guys tagged out and Jimmy and Slater tagged in. The Usos tagged in and out and worked their team spots on Slater. Slater eventually got to the corner to tag in Gabriel. Gabriel's momentum was short-lived, however, and the Usos quickly worked him over before tagging in Barreta.

Trent worked over Gabriel with his offense until Gabriel cut him off with a kick and tagged in Slater before the show went to break... [C]

Back from commercial, Tyson was worked over Barreta with a rest hold. Barreta quickly tagged in Jay Uso, who took out the entire heel team on his own. Jay demolished Slater with a Samoan Wrecking Ball and set up for the Samoan Splash, but was distracted by Gabriel.

Gabriel tagged in afterwards and worked Jay over with a rest hold. Tyson tagged in and hit jay with a dropkick before tagging Slater back into the match. Slater worked jay over with a series of stomps before locking in a chinlock. Slater tagged in Gabriel and springboarded Jay wright into Gabriel, who turned the momentum into a shoulder block.

Jay tagged in Jimmy who worked the same offense his brother did with his hot tag earlier. Jimmy hit Tyson with a Samoan drop for a near fall before tagging in Barreta, who hit a missile dropkick. Tyson fought back and got to the top rope and the match broke down with all six men battling. Tyson pulled Trent up to the top rope but Trent reserved it into a Superplex to the outside on top of the other four men in the match. Wow.

All six men sold at ringside as the announcers took us to several replays. Barreta dragged Tyson back into the ring and covered him but Gabriel broke the count. Barreta hit his Dudebuster DDT, tagged in jay who hit a Samoan Splash for the 1-2-3.

Ryan's Rant: That was one of the best tag team matches I have seen in years. Yes, ROH's division has it beat by miles, but that was simply outstanding. Go out of your way to see this match. You will not be disappointed.

Overall, this show had its ups and downs. The Diva opener entertained me, but the middle two matches bored me to tears. The main event more than made up for that, however, as that superplex to the outside was innovative and brilliant, and the selling from all six men made the impact of that move that much more intense. Thank you for following along with me and I will see you all back here next week. Feel free to stop by at 8:00 pm CT tonight for my live coverage of TNA Impact.
