5/23 Kester's WWE Tough Enough Live Coverage: The Rock makes an appearance and the final three is determined
May 23, 2011 - 06:57 PM

By Ryan Kester

Tough Enough on USA Network
Taped in Simi Valley, Cali.

[Q1] The show kicked off with a video covering last week's injuries and AJ getting on the bad side of all of the trainers. Martin was eliminated due to injury and Christina ended the show crying after a botched move from the top rope.

Trish Stratus was waiting in front of the house for Christina to arrive, who told everyone that her ankle was only sprained. AJ was shown apologizing and accepting the blame for the botch. Christina said she wasn't blaming AJ and she was partially responsible for what happened. The opening video played.

Back in the show, the remaining contests were training while Austin entered the gym. Austin said that this week's episode will focus on charisma. He talked about a few of the greats in wrestling's history who focused on charisma. Demott took over and gave people permission to perform during their drills.

The contestants started their drills as AJ spoke about hoe he had to step out from the pack. AJ and Luke tried to drop toe hold each other and the result looked terrible. Andy and Jeremiah got in the ring and Jeremiah really started off sloppy. Luke then got in the ring to work with Andy, and the trainers loved it so much that Demott gave out a group hug.

Demott sent the contests out and the show went to commercial… [C]

Ryan's Rant: I still fail to see how AJ caused that botch, but at least the two were nice about it. Christina could not look like a bigger wuss than crying like she did over a simple sprain. The way she acted last week you'd have thought she shattered her femur.

Back from commercial, the contestants were standing on the streets of Hollywood while a double-decker bus pulled up with Demott and Psych star James Roday onboard. James talked about the importance of charisma and told the contestants that, for this week's life lesson, they would each make their own live tour for the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

AJ started off with a dry delivery of facts and bored the tourists. Luke was up and displayed terrible groan-inducing comedy. Christina struggled to come up with anything and stammered the entire time. Andy botched his facts and really seemed uncomfortable in from of the tourists. He ended up turning away from the crowd at one point to avoid looking at his audience. Jeremiah really shined and delivered a relaxed and entertaining tour.

[Q2] At the end of the tours, James said that everyone was likely to remember Jeremiah's tour the most, and the show went to break… [C]

Ryan's Rant: That was mostly brutal. Jeremiah was the only one that shined, and showed that he knew how to connect with a group of people and adjust his performance accordingly. The rest of them pretty much fell flat.

Back from commercial, Austin welcomed the Rock onto the show and the contestants collectively lost their minds. The Rock brought the contestants in the ring and started working with the contestants physically. Christina complained and said, "I want to play." She was bummed that she still had to nurse her sprain. The Rock told the contestants to stay loose and let it all hang out. The Rock decided to hang out and stay for the skills challenge, which will be the contestants cutting promos on the trainers.

Jeremiah was up first and talked about two options, predator or prey. He instantly went for a twinky fat joke on Demott. He said he likes about Demott what Demott likes about him, nothing. He told him "Whenever you're in doubt, all you have to do is give Daddy Riggs a shout. Roger, that?" The trainers talked about how he was comfortable but obviously over thinking things.

Luke was up next and he said that Demott thinks he's the king of the ring, and that this Sunday it was one-on-one, student versus teacher, and there would be a new king of the Jungle. He said he looks at himself as a big, bad wolf. He said there would be no huffing and puffing because this is no fairy tale, it's reality. He said he was the only one who had the balls to enter the jungle, hunt down the lion, and pull the trigger with a smile on his face. He said this Sunday all that is left is click, click, boom." The judges loved his promo.

Christina was up next and she talked in an interview how this was make or break for her. Christina said when that bell sounds, Bill will think to his self, self: who does this girl think she is. She said she'd prove him wrong and ensure that she got the one-two-three, and that she'd do all she could to make sure he wouldn't get back up. The Rock talked about how timid Christina was… [C]

Ryan's Rant: The material of Luke's promo was great, but it just sounded like someone else had written that for him. Christina fell flat, and Jeremiah seemed to get lost in what he was saying.

[Q3] Back from commercial, Andy was up. Andy said he was supposed to talk about a match and he made a fart noise. He said they both know they wouldn't have a match. He said Silent rage couldn't be contained. He said the reality is, if they ever had a match, Demott's only claim to fame would be that he lost to him. Demott talked about he didn't stand out. The Rock said he missed his opportunity.

AJ talked about how at one point he felt home in the ring until he met Demott. He said that when Demott called the pursuit of his dream, he crapped in his oatmeal. He said when they squared up he'd make a believer out of Demott, and out of them. Demott loved his promo and said it was believable. The Rock said he loved how AJ tied it into the fans, which no one else did.

The rock announced the winner by cutting a promo. AJ won the skills competition. The trainers retired to discuss eliminations while the Rock said goodbye.

Ryan's Rant: AJ's promo was the best, but that's not saying much. All of these promos had a cornball moment, and I hope that's something someone hammers out of them before they become a part of the WWE roster.

The trainers talked about how AJ's promo is the only thing keeping him alive in the competition. They talked about how Christina didn't grab her opportunity to take advantage of the week's focus on charisma. As far as Luke, they said he had a nice swagger and intensity. The trainers loved Jeremiah's performance in the competition earlier in the week, but his in-ring performance was borderline dangerous. On Andy, and his Silent Rage gimmick, the trainers didn't see anything in him and he needed to step up his game.

[Q4]] Back in the gym, Austin announced the final three, Christina, AJ, and Andy. Austin told them to pack their bags and meet them back in the middle of his ring. Luke and Jeremiah celebrated the fact that they had made it past the bottom three. Andy talked about how pissed off he was to be in the bottom three and planned to tell Austin as much... [C]

Ryan's Rant: I get the feeling that we are about to get a real moment out of Andy. I think AJ is getting the boot tonight, though it really should be Christina. No one that reacts like she did with a sprain has any business in a field where people have had to finish a match on a torn quad or a broken neck.

The show returned to the final three meeting Austin in the ring. Austin asked Andy about himself . Andy said he was a hard working son of a bitch and he talked about his father who dug ditches for a living to support him and his family. Austin asked why none of that rubbed off on him. Andy said he's given everything he's got. Austin questioned him and Sandy stood his ground. Austin asked if he was a slacker and Andy denied him.

Austin asked him about his kids and asked why he wasn't home digging ditches. He said he was a big bastard and asked him if he was getting angry. Any asked him if he wanted his honest answer and Austin went off on him.

Austin moved on to Christina and laid into her about her ankle. She said it hurts but pain is temporary. Austin laughed. He talked about how the injury was both of their faults. Austin started going off about how she had the worst promo. He asked how she missed the opportunity and she said nonchalantly, "I don't know." Austin said she doesn't want this.

Austin moved on to AJ and asked him if he wants this more than Andy. AJ said hell yes and then Andy piped up. He said he doesn't even believe AJ when he's in the ring with him. Austin started singing "Silent Night" with night replaced with rage. He told him to keep his mouth shut. Austin called AJ a lucky devil. He said it was his one good day.

He asked Andy why he should send Christina home, and Andy retorted that Austin has the wrong people in the bottom three. He said he firmly believes that one day Christina will be a WWE Diva. He said he will be a Superstar one day. Austin went off on him for being a dumbass hero and told him to wake up. He talked about when Owen broke his neck and how no one paid his bills for him. He again asked why Christina should go home instead of him.

Andy said she wasn't as talented as him. Austin said he has good news and bad news, he said two of them are going home and the good news is one goes from bottom three to final three. Austin immediately asked for Christina's belt, and she told him he was making a mistake.

Austin asked Andy if he's given Austin his best. Andy said no. Austin started to goad Andy and the big man lost it. He started screaming at Austin. Austin told him to stop puss-footing around and to show him something tomorrow. He told AJ to go home. Andy said the other sons of bitches don't have a chance.

AJ talked about how he was having a rough time but he would find a way into WWE. Christina seemed completely unaffected by the elimination and was all smiles as she talked about how she would be the number one Diva. Austin closed the show by talking about why he made the eliminations he did.

Ryan's Rant: That was a pleasant surprise, and I am happy to see those two go home. I am looking forward to the finale next week, and I hope Andy gets the job. He's the only really likable character that they have, as Luke comes off as an ass, and Jeremiah is so green he'll get somebody hurt. Thanks for following along with me and I'll see you all on Thursday.
