WWE SuperStars on WWE.com.
Taped on Monday and Tuesday in Knoxville and Nashville, Tenn.

Jack Korpela and Matt Striker welcomed us to the show as some new chick introduced Trent Barreta. Tyson Kidd then made his entrance with Michael Hayes following behind him. Mr. Hayes introduced himself and cut a quick promo about why he's back and how he and Tyson Kidd complement and need each other like a coach needs a player and a player needs a coach.

1. Tyson Kidd (w/Michael Hayes) beat Trent Barreta in 9:41. The two locked up and began working some chain wrestling mixed with intermittent rest holds. Tyson went for the first sharpshooter attempt at: 38. He now holds the Superstars record for the fastest Sharpshooter attempt over Natalya and Smith. Anyway, Trent locked in a side headlock to take control before the two reversed move after move and ended with Trent hitting a dropkick to Kidd's face.

Trent tried going to the top only to take a huge kick to the back of his head from Kidd. Kidd threw Trent from corner to corner hard and then locked in a rest hold and yelled at the ref to ask if Trent wanted to quit. Trent came back and hit Kidd over the top rope with a clothesline. He tried going for an outside dive, but Hayes got in the way and allowed Kidd a chance to get in a cheap shot... [C]

Back from commercial, Kidd worked over Trent with a series of kicks and rest holds. Kidd put Trent in the tree of woe and WWE showed off a new camera positioned on the bottom rung of the turnbuckle. Trent blocked the charge from Kidd and then hit a whisper in the wind-esque move that he turned into a leg lariat. Wow. Great near fall afterwards and Trent struggled to keep Kidd down. Trent hit his springboard Missile dropkick to Tyson's back. He went for a near fall, but Kidd kicked out.

Kidd hit a belly-to back suplex out of nowhere that looked vicious. Kidd tried to go for the sharpshooter but Trent countered with a small package. Kidd tried for a springboard elbow but Trent got his knees up. Trent hit the gobstopper knee and scored a great near fall. Trent went for the Dudebuster DDT but Kidd countered it into the Sharpshooter for the submission victory.

The announcers hyped the main event of Chris Masters vs. Drew McIntyre... [C]

Ryan's Rant: I am going to have to go ahead and eat crow about Kidd. That was a great match, and I was impressed with both men. Kidd showed a great move set here and didn't use rest holds as a crutch. I still think he's too old for the look he has and that going for your finisher within the opening minute of the match is just asinine, but Kidd is slowly winning me over. Trent was phenomenal in that match, and the whisper in the wind like move he used as spectacular. It happened at 11:02 in the feed, and it's worth going out of your way to see.

Back from commercial, Zack Ryder made his entrance as Scott Stanford and Josh Matthews checked in at ring side. Vladimir made his entrance.

2. Zack Ryder beat Vladimir Kozlov in 4:58. Zack immediately played to the crowd and then used the ropes to keep away from Kozlov. Kozlov hit a fireman's carry but Ryder again got away from him and hid in the ropes. Ryder tried to charge Kozlov only to bounce off of him and fall to the mat. Kozlov started working over Ryder with headbutts to his chest. The two spilled to the floor and Kozlov tried to ram Ryder into the steel post but Ryder reversed and sent Kozlov face first into the steel.

In the ring, Ryder began working over the big man. Ryder nailed Kozlov with a hangman's neckbreaker and got a near fall. Ryder then went to a rest hold that Kozlov got out of quickly with a flapjack. Kozlov ran the ropes and worked over Ryder with a series of shoulder blocks. Kozlov worked over Ryder in the corner and tossed him to the outside.

The, Curt Hawkins came out of nowhere and distracted Kozlov long enough for Ryder to hit the Rough Ryder for the 1-2-3... [C]

Ryan's Rant: Ryder said "the broskis are back" so I think it's safe to assume that they're reforming their old tag team. Excellent. I want both of these guys to be used, but with how the tag world is in WWE and knowing who the current champions are, I'm not going to hold my breath. Hopefully this team lasts longer than a month.

Back from commercial, the announcers sent us to the Smackdown rebound that covered Christian's crushing loss of the World heavyweight Championship.

Drew McIntyre made his entrance... [C]

Chris Masters made his entrance.

3. Chris Masters beat Drew McIntyre via submission in 10:37. Drew went to early control with a front guillotine choke. Masters battled out and immediately went for the Masterlock. Ugh. Drew responded with several kicks to Masters' gut and a series of punches to his skull. Masters battled back with some flair chops and an inverted atomic drop.

Masters hit a huge suplex and got a near fall. Drew battled back and began working over Masters' legs. Masters came back with another series of chops but drew came back with a chop block to the injured leg. McIntyre locked in a figure four leg lock around the steel ring post and leaned all the way to the floor. Wow... [C]

Back from commercial, Drew stomped Masters' left knee. Masters hit a dragon screw and locked in a spinning toe hold on Masters injured leg. Masters tried to come back and slam Drew but his leg gave out. Drew hit a dropkick to Masters' leg and kipped up and got a great reaction from the crowd. Drew lowered masters' knee pad and worked over his leg even more.

Drew went for the figure-four but masters kicked him to ringside. Masters caught drew with an angle slam on the way into the ring and went on the offense for the first time in the match. Masters hit a sky high powerbomb for a great near fall. Drew came back and tried for the Future Shock but Masters countered with a back drop. The two went back and forth until masters caught drew in the Masterlock and won the match after Drew faded away.

Ryan's Rant: The wrong man won. Drew was excellent in this match, and it made me wish he used this offense all the time. His character looked right at home targeting his opponent's leg, and his offense looked like it really hurt. I am really getting tired of seeing supposed submission wrestlers going for their finisher before they even wear their opponent down. It just makes the wrestler look desperate and stupid. Overall, this show was very good. The Ryder/Kozlov match was a bit of a snooze, but Hawkins interjecting himself was noteworthy enough not to put me to sleep. Thank you for following along with me and I’ll see you all next week.
