5/9 Shore's WWE Tough Enough Live Coverage: John Morrison makes a guest appearance, Stone Cold promises to send two contestants home this week
May 9, 2011 - 07:00 PM

By Chris Shore

Tough Enough on USA Network
Taped in Simi Valley, Cali.

[Q1] A video recapped last week's episode and Ryan's elimination…Luke and Christian returned to the house after the elimination. Jeremiah welcomed Luke back. Ivelisse…not so much with Christina…The opening video aired…

The contestants were shown doing daily training calisthenics. The trainers were hard on Eric, especially Booker T. Bill DeMott was all over the two women, as was Trish. Steve Austin came in and said the lesson of the week was focus. He put over that he can have a lot of things going on with his life, but when the glass breaks he has to be on.

The training continued and Luke did a ton of body slams on Jeremiah. Jeremiah was shown spitting up blood later. AJ was trashed by the judges. Trish said he was flying under the radar and that it would catch up with him eventually…[C]

Shore's Slant: The injuries continue to pile up. I'm bvery curious as to whether the kids are not used to it or the trainers are pushing too hard. I'm not accusing anybody of anything, but the percentage of people legit hurt sure does seem higher than the traveling, work 300 dates a year, WWE wrestler.

Jeremiah volunteered to be the first to do an elbow from the second rope after being goaded a little by the trainers. Everybody did the spot. Eric killed the bag while Martin seemed to do the best. Ivelisse struggled to do the pre-elbow slam, but finally did. When she did the elbow drop, she gripped her leg. Booker T said she was using it as a crutch, and then Christina out did her.

[Q2] After training everybody was happy, but DeMott realized Ivelisse was missing. He and Booker T went to find her. They asked her if she was going to quit and then encouraged her not to…[C]

Shore's Slant: I wonder if they are setting Ivelisse up for the tough chick act or if as a wuss. I can’t quite get a feel here for what they are doing. There's a ropes course coming. This should be hilarious.

The contestants met Austin at a ropes course and introduced John Morrison. Morrison talked to the contestants like a robot and told them they need focus. The contestants started and several guys went through the whole thing. Ivelisse started to fail and Morrison climbed up to encourage her. She slid off the ropes once, but finished the course.

Eric fell on some swinging steps and Christina literally stepped over him. Austin put over Eric to Morrison as having moments of brilliance followed by shitting the bed. Eric fell again later in the course and spent 90 minutes stuck there until Austin said he was sending someone up to help. Austin said it was good he didn't quit, but Eric was disappointed. Morrison told them not to worry about eliminations or anything and just do their best all the time…[C]

Shore's Slant: Poor Eric. He has nobody to blame but himself, but still. You have to show up in good shape. What a shame. Morrison was terrible there. I wonder if it was scripted, because it was sure robotic.

[Q3] Back in the training room, Austin introduced the skill challenge, "Cop a squat." Each person would climb a buckle and do 15 squats and then hold the last until they fell. Andy was kicked out of the contest for getting behind on Squats. Iveie and Jeremiah moved on with Martin eliminated.

Out of the second group, AJ was kicked out at two squats and Eric fell off at four. Christina and Luke joined the other two for the final. All four climbed a buckle and held a squat as Eric and another person ran the ropes. The women fell off first and they set Jeremiah vs. Luke in a series that included slamming the bag and hitting elbows from the mat, second, and third ropes.

Jeremiah went first and didn't do so well. Luke went next and went at it. Luke finally won a challenge. The trainers retired to discuss their bottom three…[C]

Shore's Slant: Congrats to Luke for finally showing what he has. My bottom three would be Eric, AJ and Ivelisse with Eric going home. Come on, he can't even finish the ropes course. The hurt girl did and he couldn't. He has to go.

The trainers talked about Jeremiah first and Booker T really put him over. DeMott said Jeremiah could only use his "green" situation so long before they would have to call him out on it. They continued to like Luke and Andy. With Eric they were back and forth on his ability.

They question Ivelisse's injury and said she was milking it no matter how bad she was hurt. They put over Christina as getting a spark from the bottom three last week. They crapped all over AJ and DeMott said he would never be a superstar.

[Q4] Austin came back in and announced the bottom three of Eric, Ivelisse, and AJ. AJ said he couldn't have been put in with a better group to be in the bottom three. The other contestants said AJ was in the bottom three because he was coasting, but Martin saw him as a threat. Eric and AJ talked and said it would probably be Ivelisse. In her room, Ivelisse really sold her injury…[C]

Shore's Slant: Just to be clear, I don't mean she was selling it as in fake, just that she made a big deal about it. How about my bottom three? Oh yeah bitches! I still fully expect it to be Eric with this being AJ's wake up call.

The Raw teaser hyped the naming of the new number one contender for John Cena's WWE Championship…

The bottom three joined Austin in the ring. He asked how everyone was doing and Eric said, "Rough day at the office." AJ said he had had better days and Austin agreed. AJ said he was here to learn from the best in the world to be the best in the world.

Austin said AJ seemed like a nice guy and really went off. Austin said all that was great, but why would somebody want to pay to see him. AJ said he would inspire him in ways he couldn't describe. Austin said that was some good BS. He asked if this was such a dream, why hadn't AJ stood out yet.

Austin ran down Eric for his conditioning. He said the ball was in Eric's court now. He stepped in front of Ivelisse and said, "I really believe you belong in the ring, but I gotta do what I gotta do." She started to cry and said she understood. She handed him her belt, and Austin said he was taking two belts tonight.

He walked over to AJ and asked him if he wanted to hand over his belt. AJ said he would have to take it from him. Austin said watching him was like watching grass grow. Austin asked Eric if he was serious about working hard like Ivelisse had and Eric said he didn't want to go home. Austin said he had to because he was taking his belt. Eric, Ivelisse and Austin gave their final thoughts…

Shore's Slant: OK, so they did neither with Ivelisse. No wonder I couldn't get a good feel for here. Oh well, hate to see her go. She struck me as the one woman who could actually be good in the ring. As far as Eric, his cardio wasn't improving and he had to go. He seemed like a nice guy, and I hope he gets his dream fulfilled, but he's a long way from ready. Another good episode tonight. Thanks for watching along with me tonight.
