WWE Superstars on WWE.com
Taped on Monday and Tuesday in Miami and Orlando, Fla.

Jack Korpela and Matt Striker welcomed us to the show as Trent Barreta and Jey Uso made their way to the ring.

1. Trent Barreta defeated Jey Uso via pinfall in 7:45 The two locked up to start the match and Jey took control early with a shoulder block. Trent came back with a back elbow and a side headlock. It didn’t last long, however, as Jey took control with a series of power moves and a nerve pinch. Trent tried to make a comeback and went to the top only to be shoved all the way onto the outside barricade.

Back from the break, the announcers replayed the huge bump that Trent took before the break. Jey continued his onslaught with a running bump to the head in the corner that’s reminiscent of Umaga. Jey put Trent up top and the two began to battle. Trent got the better of the exchange and hit a massive corkscrew moonsault. Trent then hit a flying elbow in the corner that set up for his springboard dropkick.

Jey Uso quickly regained control with a huge Samoan drop. Jey went to the top this time and went for the flying splash but Trent got his knees up. Trent hit the Gobstopper running knee for a two count. Trent went to the top but Jey cut him off. Jey tried for another Samoan drop but Trent reversed it into the Dudebuster DDT for the 1-2-3.

The announcers sent us to a showing of That’s What I Am starring Randy Orton and Ed Harris… [C]

Ryan’s Rant: That was a rather good match for Superstars. If the Usos, for whatever reason, were to break up, I think there’s a future for Jey. Trent Barreta continues to impress me with his arsenal of high flying moves. The corkscrew moonsault and the bump he took from the top rope to the outside barricade were both well done. I even liked the creative finish with Trent hitting the Dudebuster DDT from Jey’s shoulders. Overall, this was an excellent way to start the show.

Back from commercial, Melina and Beth Phoenix made their entrances as Josh Matthews and Scott Stanford checked in at ringside.

2. Beth Phoenix defeated Melina via pinfall in 4:37 Beth quickly took control and tossed Melina around the ring. Melina dove towards the ropes to get the big woman off of her. It didn’t work for long, however, as Beth caught her and threw her into the corner. Beth miss stepped, however, and Melina took full advantage by throwing Beth shoulder-first into the steel post.

Melina began working some dirty offense by pulling Beth’s hair and choking her in the ropes. She then locked in an impressive dragon sleeper. Beth drove her into the corner to get out of the hold and then hit a military press slam. She sold the sleeper, however, and Melina went right back to work. Beth came back with a double axe handle before locking in a reverse single-leg Boston crab. Beth then hoisted Melina up and hit the Glam Slam for the win… [C]

Ryan’s Rant: Is it sad that the entire time that match was going on I was wishing Kharma would show up and destroy one of the Divas? This was a better-than-average Divas match, but it also failed to really build up any steam. Every time the momentum began to pick up, someone would lock in a rest hold to kill it. The finish came out of nowhere and was very anti-climactic.

Back from commercial, the announcer set up the Raw Rebound, which focused only on Rock’s birthday and the different celebrity cameos rather than the awesome match between Cena and the Miz.

Evan Bourne made his way to the ring… [C]

Back from commercial, Zack Ryder made his entrance.

3. Evan Bourne defeated Zack Ryder via pinfall in 7:08. Zack Ryder started the match by going to the second rope and playing to the crowd. The two then locked up and Ryder overpowered Bourne. Ryder hit a snapmare and tried to lock in a chinlock but Bourne slipped right through and locked in a hammerlock. The two went on for a while with Ryder trying a maneuver only to be thwarted by a counter from Bourne.

Eventually, Bourne let loose with some fast-paced offense. He hit a huracarana, a dropkick, and a baseball slide. Bourne tried to go for another huracarana, but this time Ryder saw it coming and got out of the way. Bourne sold at ringside while the show went to commercial… [C]

After the break, Ryder was firmly in control with a side headlock on Bourne. Ryder got Bourne in the corner and hit the "Broski Boot" face wash kick in the corner. Ryder then went to a modified crossface until Bourne powered out. Ryder went for a move from the second rope but ate a spinning heel kick from Bourne. Bourne avoided a Rough Ryder attempt and came back with jumping knee to Ryder’s temple. Seizing the opportunity, Bourne went to the top and hit Airbourne for the win.

Ryan’s Rant: The beginning of that match was insanely good. It was chain wrestling at its finest. These two deserve better then what they are getting and I feel like I say that about somebody every week. I honestly believe that if the WWE let these guys have a program on one of the main shows, they could get themselves over in one match. If you’re only going to watch one match from Superstars, let it be this.

Overall, this was an excellent show with only the divas match really missing the mark. Still, this show was much better than average and felt like it absolutely flew by. Thank you for following along with me and I’ll see you all next week.
