Taped in London, England.

Jack Korpela and Matt Striker welcomed us to Superstars as Tyler Reks and JTG made their entrances.

1. Tyler Reks defeated JTG via pinfall in 9:17. Reks started the match off squatting in the corner and playing with his hair with a crazed look on his face. Eventually, the two squared up and JTG got a side headlock takeover on Reks got off the mat and stared out into the audience with the same crazed look that he had before. Reks got JTG in the corner and started working JTG over with shoulder thrusts to the abdomen.

JTG eventually got out of the corner and hit Reks with a legsweep that sent Reks face-first into the mat. Reks then rolled outside the ring to regroup. Reks tried to get back into the ring but was kicked by JTG, who then tried to send Reks head-first into the steel post but was unsuccessful. Reks then fought his way back into the ring and hit a bodyslam for the first big move of the night.

Reks then hit JTG with a flapjack and a series of hard stomps before going for the cover and scoring a near-fall. Reks then locked in a body scissors on JTG’s midsection. After JTG tried to power out of the hold, Reks hit a release suplex and then locked in another rest hold.

JTG again worked his way out of the hold and baited Reks into charging at him before pulling down the top rope, sending Reks back to the outside. JTG then went for some sort of springboard move but Reks cut him off by grabbing JTG’s foot and pulling it out from underneath him... [C]

Back from commercial, Reks was working over JTG by stomping him in the corner. JTG battled back with a very botched roll-up attempt that resulted in a two count. Reks then caught JTG and put him in the Tree of Woe. Reks tried to run across the ring and spear the prone JTG but JTG got out of the way and Reks went shoulder-first into the ring post. JTG tried another series of roll-ups and botched both of them.

Reks tried to gain some momentum with a clothesline, but he whipped JTG into the ropes and was immediately met with a running back elbow. JTG then hit a weak running kick. He attempted to go for the Mug Shot, but was caught by Reks. However, JTG squirmed out and hit Reks with a scary looking botched DDT. After a quick near-fall, Reks scooped up JTG and hit his version of the Burning Hammer out of nowhere for the three.

After the match, they showed the video package of Edge’s retirement speech and hyped Alberto Del Rio’s Retirement Party for Edge on Smackdown.

The camera then went to Maryse walking back stage as the show went to commercial… [C]

Ryan’s Rant: It may look like I am just harping at JTG with those last few paragraphs, but his performance in this match was brutal. At a certain point he seemed to hit a brick wall and just started botching move after move after move. He needs to get some training in because the way he wrestles is sloppy and dangerous for those he’s in the ring with. As far as Reks goes, I like the craziness he displayed briefly in this match, and I really hope WWE has plans for him after the Draft on Monday.

Did You Know? WWE has over 5 million Facebook fans, more than: ESPN, Pepsi, MLB, Gatorade, Nascar, and the NFL.

Maryse and Natalya made their respective entrances as Scott Stanford and Josh Matthews checked in on commentary.

2. Maryse defeated Natalya via pinfall in 4:09. Maryse slapped Natalya to start the match. Natalya quickly got Maryse on the mat and applied a surfboard stretch and let go when the ref began a count for her shoulders being on the mat. At 0:58, Natalya went for her first attempt at locking in the Sharpshooter, only to have Maryse battle out and kick Natalya back into the turnbuckle.

Maryse then chocked Natalya in the middle of the ropes before hitting her with a running knee to the back. Maryse had trouble getting the referee to start a count after the knee shot and ended up moving Natalya three times before he’d start. After Natalya kicked out, Maryse locked in a camel clutch until Natalya stood up and fell backwards to break the hold.

Natalya then hit Maryse with the Natty by Nature discus clothesline. She picked Maryse up off the mat and hit a running powerslam on Maryse for a near fall. Maryse got up afterwards, slapped Natalya, and hit the French Kiss DDT to pick up the win.

The announcers then hyped the main event for the evening, Mark Henry vs. Ted DiBiase… [C]

Ryan’s Rant: I know I may get flack for this, but I really don’t see what everyone else does in Natalya. She doesn’t seem to have a lot of personality and her move set is rather limited. Plus, I hate wrestlers that have submission finishers who try and use said finisher early in the match. You don’t see Randy Otron trying to hit an RKO within the opening minute of a match because he hasn’t done anything to wear his opponent down for his finisher, so why would a submission wrestler, who wins matches by wearing out a specific spot on their opponent, try and do the same?

Back from commercial, the announcers hyped the theme song for Extreme Rules.

The RAW Rebound focused on R-truth losing his spot in the main event of Extreme Rules and his subsequent heel turn.

The announcers then hyped the Extreme Rules card, and Mark Henry made his entrance.

Ryan’s Rant: The video was thankfully edited rather than simply showing the entire segment again like WWE has been known to do. WWE’s production team did their usual excellence and made R-Truth’s turn look much better than it actually was.

Back from commercial, Ted DiBiase made his way down the entrance ramp.

3. Mark Henry Defeated Ted DiBiase in 7:57. DiBiase immediately went to ringside to get away from Henry. He eventually got in the ring only to be manhandled before ducking back out of the ring. Eventually, he got back into the ring and locked in a side headlock on Henry, who pushed DiBiase into the ropes and floored him with a shoulder block.

DiBiase stood up and slapped Henry, who responded with a headbutt and a clothesline. Henry hit another huge clothesline and then stood over DiBiase for forever before attempted a squash and missing. DiBiase then got in his first real offense of the match with a running dropkick. He went for a cover, but Henry powered out so hard that he sent DiBiase outside the ring. DiBiase got back in the ring and hit another dropkick on Henry only to be thrown back outside yet again… [C]

Back from Commercial, DiBiase was stomping Henry on the mat. The announcers took us to footage of DiBiase chop blocking Henry during the commercial. Yet again, Henry sent DiBiase outside the ring. DiBiase came back in and got the advantage by kicking the injured leg of Henry until the big man was on the canvas. Then, the started to work the leg over with a series of elbow drops. Henry eventually kicked DiBiase away from him. DiBiase darted back to Henry and locked in a front guillotine choke. Henry powered out by lifting DiBiase and hitting him with a flapjack.

DiBiase hit a dropkick to the injured leg of Henry and started working some Flair-style stomps to the back of Henry’s leg. Once again, henry powered out and hit DiBiase with a series of clotheslines. DiBiase got tried to battle back and went to the second rope only to jump right into the World’s Strongest Slam to end the match.

Ryan’s Rant: What is there to really say about that match? Ted spent most of the time on the floor and when he was in the ring, he was on;y hitting some offense that seemed to annoy henry or he was getting his butt handed to him. This is the second week in a row that Superstars ended with a disappointing main event squash match. Overall, this show was a real let down with a lackluster divas match and the botchfest that is JTG. Thank you for following along with me and I’ll see you all next week.
