4/7 Shore's WWE Superstars Live Coverage: The last show on WGN America features Yoshi Tatsu vs. Tyson Kidd, Ted DiBiase vs. Santino Marella, and Drew McIntyre vs. JTG
Apr 7, 2011 - 07:00 PM

By Chris Shore

Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Atlanta, Ga and Charlotte NC.

[Q1] The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Jack Corpella and Matt Striker welcomed us to Superstars.

1. Drew McIntyre defeated JTG at 4:40. They locked up and Drew tried to break dirty with a kick. JTG caught the foot and Drew slapped the shit out of him. He worked strikes on JTG until JTG punched back. Drew slapped him and JTG went crazy with strikes. McIntyre hit an elbow to re-establish control, and hit a reverse suplex onto the top rope.

Drew charged and JTG hit a back drop, and then a kick to the face. He botched a rollup, but finally hooked it for two. He hit a swinging DDT, but Drew got his foot on the rope to break the count. JTG went for the mug shot, but Drew pushed him off and hit a big boot. He followed with the future shock DDT for the win…The Hall of Fame video aired…[C]

Shore's Slant: In a fight of two guys who have been jobbing all over the place, Drew McIntyre comes out on top. I fully expect JTG to be cut in the rumored round of cuts. So does this make McIntyre safe? I don't know if this proves it, but I think he survives.

[Q2] Back from commercial, Scott Stanford and Josh Matthews took over on commentary as Yoshi Tatsu and Tyson Kidd made their ring entrances…

2. Yoshi Tatsu defeated Tyson Kidd at 9:57. Kidd started with an arm bar and then both men bounced around with rapid fire moves until Tatsu hit three Japanese arm drags to take control. Kidd made the ropes and broke dirty. He kicked Tatsu and flipped over the top rope, but Tatsu hit a dropkick that spilled Kidd to the floor…[C]

Back at 5:57, Kidd worked on Yoshi's neck as a video showed him hitting a hangman type move during the break. Kidd hit the ropes for something, but Yoshi hit a spinning heel kick and worked on his offense. He hit several kicks and then a shining wizard for two. Yoshi went to the top and Kidd swept the feet. Kidd went to the top and hit a super frankensteiner for a near fall. Yoshi kicked away from a Sharpshooter attempt and hit a roundhouse kick for the win…

Shore's Slant: Much like the first match, I expect the loser here to be cut very soon and expect the winner to hang on. That's tough because Kidd can work. We didn't see much from either guy here, but both deserve to stay.

[Q3][C] A video replayed the John Cena vs. Rock interaction on Raw…

[Q4] Santino Marella made his ring entrance…[C]

3. Santino Marella defeated Ted DiBiase at 10:50. The two men mat wrestled to start and Santino stuck his hand out to shake Ted's. Ted slapped it away and grew great heat. They repeated the series (basically) and this time Ted stuck his hand out. Santino slapped it, but more like a high five. Ted punched him in the head with a cheap shot and stomped Santino till he rolled to the floor…[C]

Back at 6:26, Ted worked a headlock on Santino. A video showed DiBiase hitting a slam on the floor and mocking the Cobra during the break. Santino escaped and Ted hit a drop kick for two. Santino came back and hit a sunset flip, but Ted stood tall and punched him in the face for two.

Ted hooked a chin lock, but Santino reversed into a chin buster. Ted fought back and set Santino in the corner. He charged in, but Santino collapsed and Ted hit the buckle. Santino did his split duck and hit a hip toss, but Ted got the foot up for the head-butt attempt. Ted hooked for Dream Street, but Santino pushed back into the turnbuckle and hit a snap mare. He followed with the Cobra for the win…

Shore's Slant: All of you people in Atlanta who cheered for Santino, I hate you. But as far as cuts, expect both of these guys to be around when the dust settles. WWE never mentioned that they wouldn't be on TV next week, and I'm kind of confused as to why. I'll have more to say tomorrow on the final hitlist. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
