Mar 24, 2011 - 07:00 PM

By Chris Shore

Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Pittsburgh, Pa and Columbus, Ohio.

[Q1] The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Jack Korpela and Matt Striker welcomed us to Superstars. They hyped the mixed tag team match as the main event…

1. Chris Masters defeated Tyler Reks at 10:25. Reks hooked a quick headlock. Masters whipped out and tossed Reks over the top rope. Reks pitched a fit on the floor and slid back in the ring. Masters hit a flying shoulder and tried for the Masterlock. Reks dropped him on the top rope instead. He worked strikes and charged at Masters. Masters back drop Reks over the top and went to the floor to follow up…[C]

Back at 6:16, Reks worked Masters's leg in the ring with a step over toe hold. Reks continued to work the leg with stomps and knees to the leg and went back to the step over toe hold. Masters kicked Reks into the corner and followed with a Samoan Drop as Korpela said "In a totally heterosexual way he has a great physique." Oh boy.

Masters hit a shoulder block from the second rope and followed with a spinebuster for two. Reks reversed a whip to the corner and Masters collapsed from the leg. Reks hit a flatliner for two and stood Masters up. Masters slipped behind and hooked the Masterlock for the win…

[Q2] A video recapped the Corre vs. Big Show and Kane from Smackdown last week…The announce team hyped Wade Barrett vs. Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental Championship for tomorrow on Smackdown…[C]

Shore's Slant: Yawn. Reks and Masters have wrestled so many times all you can do now is see if they can do a different match. They managed to, except for the win. Masters bores me to tears, and Reks is not being allowed to do much either. My guess is one or both of these men go away after WrestleMania 27. I just hope it isn't Reks.

Back from commercial, Yoshi Tatsu and Khali made their ring entrance as Scott Stamford and Josh Matthews took over on commentary. Khali had his right forearm, left bicep, and abdomen wrapped for some reason. The Usos were out next…

2. Great Khali and Yoshi Tatsu defeated The Usos at 3:57. Yoshi and Jimmy started and Tatsu scored some quick chops and Japanese arm drags. Jimmy snuck in a punch and he and Jay worked in and out on Yoshi. Jimmy tried for a slam, but Yoshi escaped and hit a spinning heel kick and tagged Khali. Khali destroyed both Usos, including no selling an attack on the wrapped back, and hit the Punjabi Plunge for the win…

Shore's Slant: Why is Khali wrapped up? You know what, don't tell me. I really don't think it would be possible for me to care less. It hurts my heart knowing that Khali will survive the cuts after WrestleMania 27 but other far more talented people won't. I'm digging Yoshi on NXT because we get to see a little character from him, but this was the definition of a throwaway match.

[Q3][C] The very good Triple H vs. Undertaker hype video with all the different people talking about the match aired…

Shore's Slant: Is it sad that the best hype for this match has come from everyone else and/or the two men not talking

The announce team ran down most of the WrestleMania 27 card…Daniel Bryan and Gail Kim made their ring entrance…[C]

[Q4] 3. Daniel Bryan and Gail Kim defeated Tyson Kidd and Melina at 13:14. The women started the match. They traded forearm shots and Kim hit her spot on the ropes and followed with a sunset flip for two. She tagged in Bryan who picked her up and dropped her in a splash on Melina. Kidd ran in and Bryan used Kim as a spear with her feet.

Bryan hit a dropkick in the corner, but Kidd hit a kick to take control. He stomped Bryan in the corner until the ref pulled him off. Melina choked Bryan while the ref yelled at Kidd. Kidd tried to hook the Sharpshooter, but Bryan countered into a LaBell lock attempt. Kidd made the ropes and went to the floor.

Melina slapped Bryan and Kim ran in and hit a dropkick that spilled Melina to the floor. Bryan hit a flying knee from the apron on Kidd, and Kim hit a crossbody from the top on Melina. Kim jumped into Bryan's arms and then ran back to her corner…[C]

Back at 8:32, Bryan kicked Kidd on the ropes. He whipped Kidd, who grabbed the ropes and tagged in Melina. Melina shooed Bryan away, but Kim ran in and attacked. She twisted Melina's leg back across her head and pushed her into the corner. She tried for a crossbody, but Melina did the Matrix trick and took control.

Melina hit a big boot that became a split for two and locked on a full nelson on Kim except she used her legs. Kim rolled over and reversed it into a stretch. Melina escaped and they both hit facebusters on each other. Melina made the tag, which amounted to double hot tags, and Bryan hit a series of kicks on Kidd.

Bryan went to the top, but Melina knocked his legs out. Kim dropped her on the apron and rolled her in the ring. Kidd ran up, but Bryan shoved him off. Both Bryan and Kim went to the top and hit stereo missile dropkicks on the heels. Bryan followed with the LaBell lock for the submission win…

Shore's Slant: Wow, that was actually a very good match. Everybody worked hard, and unlike most mixed tag matches, the action didn't fall off when the women were in the ring. Of course anything would have been good after the first two matches, but I really enjoyed the match. Good for them. I'll have more to say tomorrow on the hitlist, thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
