3/22 Shore's WWE NXT Live Coverage: Titus O'Neil vs. Darren Young, a trash talking challenge, Lucky Cannon vs. Byron Saxton, and you don't want to know the other thing they do
Mar 22, 2011 - 09:00 PM

By Chris Shore

WWE NXT on WWE.com
Taped earlier in Columbus, Ohio.

The opening video aired and Todd Grisham and William Regal sent it up to Matt Striker and HOLY CRAP…er, Maryse. They introduced the rookies who came to the ring while their pros watched from the stage. Maryse flubbed the redemption points total by saying Jacob Novak had the lead when really Titus O'Neill leads with five points. That's OK, she's there to look at anyway. They introduced the trash talk challenge…

Jacob Novak vs. Byron Saxton: Novak tried to say he was the news that Saxton should report or something. Saxton said Novak was the spokesperson for Huggies diapers. Saxton won.

Conor O'Brian vs. Titus O'Neill: Conner punked Titus as a big dumb giant. O'Neill said O'Brian's nose was so big his pull over shirts had stretch marks. O'Neill won on the Hornswoggle vote but didn't deserve it.

Darren Young vs. Lucky Cannon: Young said the 80s called and wanted their robe back. He said Cannon was a punk and he should knock him out. Cannon insulted Columbus and then said all that matter was Maryse. Young, not surprisingly, won. He and Cannon had a couple of stare down moments.

Byron Saxton vs. Titus O'Neill vs. Darren Young: Saxton made a dog joke about Titus and said Young could be in a group called the Flat Tops. O'Neill tried to punk Saxton's hair or something. Young told everyone Titus O'Neill would be 42 next week. Young said he was better looking Saxton. Darren Young won after they had the crowd cheer twice…[C]

Shore’s Slant: I got nothing. Seriously, I got nothing. What do you say after that? That was the worst thing I have ever seen. I'd rather watch Jeff Hardy wrestle 30 main events than that again.

A video recapped the keg challenge from last week…

1. Titus O'Neill (w/Hornswoggle) defeated Darren Young (w/Chavo Guerrero) at 3:05. Both men traded blows and slams with neither having control early. Young hooked a side headlock and O'Neill drove him back to the corner. O'Neill hit a spinning backbreaker for a near fall. He whipped Young to the corner and Chavo pulled Young away when Titus ran in. Horny bit Chavo on the leg and distracted Young with it. Titus followed up with a powerbomb move for the win…[C]

Shore’s Slant: An OK match, but nothing exciting. These are probably the two best workers on the show, but what can you possibly see in three minutes of back and forth?

The Undertaker vs. Triple H hype video aired…Backstage, Yoshi Tatsu told Lucky Cannon he should be more respectful to Maryse. Cannon got in his face and Maryse walked up. She apologized for slapping Cannon last week. He tried hitting on her again and she slapped him again. Yoshi laughed and she asked if he was laughing at her and then slapped him and stormed off. Cannon laughed at Yoshi and Yoshi slapped him and walked off, leaving Cannon pissed off…[C]

Shore’s Slant: Well, at least we have a story I guess. I just don't care enough about any of these guys for it to move me much.

A Lucky Cannon hype video aired…Vladimir Kozlov and Conor O'Brian made their ring entrance. JTG and Jacob Novak were out next. Before the ref could call for the bell, Matt Striker came out and said it was now a dance off. Oh joy…

2. Vladimir Kozlov and Conor O'Brian defeated JTG and Jacob Novak in a dance off. JTG and Novak argued through their routine. Striker called them Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus. Kozlov and O'Brian did the Kozlov shuffle and won…The announce team hyped the Miz-story video from Raw for next…[C]

Shore’s Slant: Ugh. You know what the worst part is? I had no ROH this week either. How the hell is this show getting another season?

The Miz-story segment from Raw aired. I remember when I used to pan these replays. Now I beg for them…[C]

3. Lucky Cannon (w/Tyson Kidd) defeated Byron Saxton (w/Yoshi Tatsu) at 3:19. Cannon broke the first lockup dirty. Saxton came right back and worked Cannon in the corner. Kidd distracted Saxton and Cannon hit a big boot and worked a chin lock. JTG and Hornswoggle were playing Tic Tac Toe on the ramp.

Saxton ducked a clothesline attempt and hit one of his own from the second rope. Cannon drove Saxton into the ring post and followed with a cool fireman's carry into a slam for the win. Post-match, Tatsu checked on Saxton and Cannon attacked him. He a couple of blows on Yoshi and then hit his finisher on him as well to end the show…

Shore’s Slant: The best part of this show was the end, and I mean that as in the last thing we saw and that it went off the air. Cannon is really separating himself from the pack with what he has been given, and I really like the finisher. But this show just covers everything around it in Raw sewage. I'll have more tomorrow on the hitlist. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
