2/22 Shore's WWE NXT Live Coverage: Who will suffer the final elimination of Season 4?
Feb 22, 2011 - 09:00 PM

WWE NXT on SyFy
Live from Sacramento, Calif.

All three rookies were show talking with their pros individually…The opening video aired and Todd Grisham and Josh Matthews checked in and tossed it up to Matt Striker who had all three rookies come to the stage. He said no pros were allowed to be there tonight and said there would be an elimination tonight.

They showed the immunity point standings with Brodus Clay in the lead with five points and neither Johnny Curtis nor Derrick Bateman having any. He introduced the moron challenge…or something. They had to hit beer pong, build a structure from blocks, flip a cup over on its top and then arrange dice in order with chopsticks.

Curtis did it in 1:19, Bateman was disqualified, and Clay did it in 1:46. Curtis earned three points. The announce team hyped the three rookies in a triple threat match for next…[C]

Shore’s Slant: That was…Beer pong…I'm not…I can't…

1. Johnny Curtis defeated Brodus Clay and Derrick Bateman at 11:00. The two faces went after Clay together, but he pushed them down and tossed Bateman to the floor. Clay worked on Curtis and locked in his neck submission hold. Bateman made it back in the ring and hit a dropkick on Clay.

They spent the next full minute trading chops and kicks with the faces working on Clay. They double clotheslined Brodus out of the ring. Curtis kicked Bateman and whipped him. Bateman ducked the clothesline and hit a dive on Clay. Curtis followed with a front flip dive on both men while landing on his feet…

Back at 5:15, Curtis hit a suplex on Bateman for two. Clay attacked Curtis from behind, but Bateman hit a dropkick on Curtis and worked Bateman in the corner. Clay attacked from behind and left both men laid out in different corners.

Clay covered Bateman and Curtis hit a leg drop from the top to break the pin. He covered both men and both men kicked out. Everybody brawled together and the faces hit a double suplex on Clay. Curtis immediately hit a knee lift on Bateman and suplexed him onto Clay. He covered Bateman for the pinfall victory…[C]

Shore’s Slant: Good match. The opening struggled to gain traction, but once it did it delivered. I think the right guy won here to keep it interesting. It will be interesting to see who has immunity tonight.

A video replayed the entire Cena promo/rap from Raw…The announce team hyped the talk the talk challenge for next…[C]

The show returned with the rookies and Striker in the ring. Striker ran through the rules of the talk the talk challenge. Curtis started and said he was originally planned to punk Shrek and AC Slater but decided to take the high road. He thanked the audience and said a vote for him was a vote for freedom.

Bateman said he was the Sacramento King of the competition and he had the "it" factor. He turned it over to hometown boy Brodus Clay who cut his typical slang promo and had the crowd cheer for him. He won the three points and has immunity for tonight…

Shore’s Slant: One more show. Just keep telling yourself, one more show. One more…

Matt Striker gave a lame speech about how there was nothing to be ashamed of if they are eliminated. Derrick Bateman was eliminated. Bateman put himself over and left. Clay hit a clothesline on Curtis on the floor and said he would see him in Cleveland…

Shore’s Slant: So it was a whopping 45 minutes and they cut the wrong guy? I'm completely shocked it was Bateman. But we all know Clay wins this next week. What a terrible show though. You know what the worst part of this show is? I have to write a hitlist on it! I'll try to find more to say then. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
