[Q1] The show started with a recap of the history of SD and the twelve man tag match being hyped for tonight. The opening montage aired and the coronation of Dolph Ziggler will be later tonight. Edge opened the show with a huge pop and we got Michael Cole bitching about how Edge should be stripped of the title. All the babyfaces made their entrance and the hometown hero, Rey Mysterio got the biggest pop...John Chaina....I mean Cena got a tweener reaction.

Mind of Marv: Michael Cole is being overly annoying and its not even five minutes into the broadcast.

All the heels made their entrances and Dolph got the best heel heat of his career. Michael Cole was still being annoying...

1. John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Edge, John Morrison, and R-Truth defeated Kane, C.M. Punk, King Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, Wade Barrett, and Drew McIntyre in 20:20. Drew and Edge started the matchup. Both men lock up and Drew had the early advantage by stomping Edge and Edge countered back with punches and a big boot to Drew. Truth tagged in and got minimal offense. Dolph got tagged in and Truth hit a hiptoss to Dolph. Orton got in the match and worked on Dolph by hitting a clothesline.

Orton tagged in Cena and Cena hit a bulldog. Morrison tagged in and Dolph took advantage with some kicks. Morrison got some offense and went Starship Pain but Dolph knocked him off the ropes for a nearfall. [C]

[Q2] The show returned with Sheamus suplexing Morrison for a nearfall. Punk tagged in and worked on Morrison. Punk applied a neck scissors to Morrison and Morrison tagged in Rey. Rey hit offense to Punk for multiple nearfalls. Punk went fot the GTS, but Rey countered with a 619 attempt but Punk countered with a gutbuster for a nearfall. Kane tagged in and worked on Rey in the corner. Kane applied a Bearhug to Rey in the middle of the ring. Rey got out of the bearhug and tried to hit some offense but Kane caught him and threw him outside the ring to land on Punk’s knee. [C]

The show returned with Barrett attackign Rey and covering for a nearfall. Sheamus tagged in and applied an armbar to Rey. Rey kicked his way out but Sheamus hit an Irish Curse Backbreaker for a nearfall. Wade tagged back in and went for a cover but he was under the ropes. Rey hit a drop toe hold in the corner to Wade and he hit a moonsault to off the ropes. Edge and Dolph tagged in and Edge hit instant offense to Dolph and went for the spear, but all the men hit rapid fire finishers to each other. Rey hit a double 619 to Dolph and Wade. Edge hit a spear to Dolph to get the win...

Mind of Marv: Excellent tag match to kick off this historic show. The commerical breaks killed the momentum of the match, but there wasn’t any cluster moments in this match. The Chamber matches should be good enough to get some good buys even though I think this is a predictable and throwaway PPV.

[Q3] Post match, Vickie Guerrero came out and said Edge must turn over the world title and she showed him why via footage from last week. Vickie said that Edge knew that the Spear was banned and he is no longer the world champion. Dolph will be coronated as the new world champion and Vickie said that Edge assaulted Teddy Long. She talked about her and Teddy Long having a great relationship even though, they haven’t seen eye to eye. She fired Edge short thereafter...[C]

Mind of Marv: Vickie could’ve fired him better than that...leave the firing to Vince! But anyway, if you follow WWE on the regular, you should know where this is going...

A recap of Edge’s firing was shown and the announcers was talking about what just happened. Footage was shown of Rey breaking Cody’s nose. Todd Grisham interviewed Cody Rhodes with a mask on and Cody talked about having mental anguish about his face being destroyed. Cody said his journey being stalled to Mania and he said that he has a very important announcement for next week...

Eve and Beth Phoenix came to the ring for a tag match next and the 2.21.11 was shown....[C]

Mind of Marv: This mid-card act of Rhodes does nothing for me, but working with Rey Mysterio can be the key for Rhodes to become a potential main eventer...

[Q4] Highlights of the first ever Smackdown was shown from 8/23/99 and how HBK hit a sick Sweet Chin Music kick to The Rock...

2. Maryse and Layla beat Divas Champion Eve and Beth Phoenix in 2:30. Maryse smacked Beth and Beth grabbed worked on Maryse. Layla tagged in and both babyfaces worked on Layla. Eve hit some offense and McCool became a distraction. Maryse and Layla hit two big boots for the win...

Mind of Marv: This hot crowd went Michael Jackson dead for this match...

Highlights of the SD was shown after 9/11 and while Kofi got his big pop, Michael Cole kep kissing The Miz’s ass...

[Q6] 3. WWE Champion The Miz defeated Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston in 10:10. The match started with some grappling and Kofi hit a armdrag takedown to the Miz. The Miz hit an elbow to Kofi and Kofi countere with two crossbodies for a nearfall. The Miz worked on Kofi in the corner and Kofi came back with brief offense, but The Miz kicked Kofi off the ropes. [C]

The show returned with The Miz working on Kofi and covered for a nearfall. Kofi rolled up Miz for a nearfall. Kofi went for ethe SOS but Miz countered out. Kofi hit a standing missile dropkick to Miz for a nearfall. Kofi hit a high crossbody to the Miz for a nearfall. The Miz hit the Reality Check to Kofi for a nearfall. Kofi kicked and hit a jumping punch to the Miz and he followed with the Boom Drop. Kofi was setting up for the Trouble in Paradise but Alberto Del Rio came out to distract Kofi. Both men exchanged rollups and Kofi was going to hit the Miz but Alberto Del Rio hit Kofi with his scarf and The Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win...

Post match, Del Rio smiled at Kofi and the announcers shown the top 10 shows that Smackdown has surpassed. SD is in 3rd place behind Raw and Gunsmoke. The tag team titles will be defended, next...[C]

Mind of Marv: The Miz gets another quality win but I hate the fact that its not main eventers. The secondary champions (Kofi and Bryan) doesn’t mean much in their current roles on their respected brands. The Miz getting a clean win over Lawler will be good elevation, but we all know he is getting fed to the Chain Gang Soldier from West Newberry, Massachusetts at WM27...

[Q7] Highlights from the first SD when the late and great Eddie Guerrero became the WWE Champion. Footage of The Corre making an impact on Smackdown last week.

4. Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov defeated Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater by disqualification to retain the WWE Tag Titles in 2:00. Kozlov hit some stiff offense to Gabriel to start the match and Zeke Jackoson and Barrett came out to distract the champions. Slater came out and hit some offense but Kozlov rammed him and tagged in Santino. Santino hit his offense and hit the Cobra on Gabriel and went for the cover but The Corre attacked the champions and the match was thrown out.

Mind of Marv: Set this match up and get the belts off this comedy tag team. Then the Corre and New Nexus can feud over the tag belts...

Post match, The Big Show came out and clean house of the Corre. Show challenged Zeke to get in the ring but he backed off and left with the rest of the Corre.

Footage was shown of Stone Cold opening a can of whoop ass on Booker T. The coronation of Dolph Ziggler is next...[C]

Q8] Vickie Guerrero introduced Dolph Ziggler as the new World Heavyweight Champion and while Dolph celebrated, Teddy Long made his return to the show. Long said Vickie and Dolph act like they seen a ghost. Long accused Vickie for attacking him and Vickie confessed that Dolph was the one that attacked him. Long said forget about the ceremony and we will have a world title match right now. Vickie said that he had the power to fire people but he has the power to re-hire people and Edge was brought back to face Dolph for the world title, next...[C]

Mind of Marv: Shortest world title reign in WWE history? If you think otherwise, you are dumber than a blonde...

5. Edge defeated Dolph Ziggler to win the World Heavyweight Championship in 3:00. Edge got quick offense in and went for the spear, but Edge missed and Dolph took advantage. Dolph covered for a nearfall. Dolph applied a chinlock to Edge in the middle of the ring. Edge got out of the submission and Dolph countered with a sleeper. Edge powered out but Dolph hit a Fameasser to Edge. Edge hit a spear to Dolph to win back the world title...

Mind of Marv: Dolph was world champion for 11 minutes, LMFAO.

Post match, Edge gloated to Vickie Guerrero and Teddy Long came back out and FIRED Dolph. Dolph had that shit face look and Edge said Excuse Me...its been long party. He said he was there for first episode of SD and the 600th episode where he is still the world champion. Edge taunted Dolph and confetti fell all over the arena. Edge did the Goodbye song to close the show...

Mind of Marv: I really saw no storyline sense on why Edge was stripped for the title just to get it back on him at the end of the night. It basically gives him a another title reign that will only last 5 weeks because Alberto Del Rio will defeat Edge at Wrestlemania 27. The Elimination Chamber match will be predictable, since I do not expect a title change at this show.

Overall, this was a great 600th episode of Smackdown which I enjoyed covering for the final time. For my verbal thoughts on this show, I will discuss this show in Member Exclusive Audio with Chris Shore over the weekend.
