By Marv Hermanstyne

WWE Friday Night Smackdown on SyFy
Live from Oklahoma City, OK

[Q1] The show kicked off with a new montage for Smackdown. Before the montage, MVP and Dolph Ziggler will face each other for the IC title because they were in the ring.

1. MVP and Nexus for the Intercontinental Championship ended in a no-contest in 1:40. Both men lock up quickly and they grappled in the corner. Dolph hit some blows to MVP and went for a quick cover for a nearfall. Dolph hit the jumping elbow for a nearfall. Dolph went for the sleeper early, but MVP hit a belly to back suplex twice and a low drop kick for a nearfall. MVP hit a big throw to Dolph and the Nexus came out and attacked Dolph.
MVP got surrounded by the Nexus and got beat the hell down.

The Nexus members hit their respective finishers on MVP and Big Show came out. Big Show got attacked by Nexus and John Cena came out and attacked all of the Nexus. But the Nexus got the advantage and Big Show grabbed a chair and smacked Slater with it.

Mind of Marv: Hot opening to the show…the OK City crowd is hot and I am loving the start so far to this LIVE show!

Backstage, Wade Barrett said that Cena will get a beating from the Nexus and he review the stipulation for their HIAC match on Sunday. Wade said that they will not lose and he has something that will change on Smackdown. Wade said that he is close with the president of SyFy and he said he had some suggestions for matches. Teddy Long said that Big Show will face the Nexus in a five on one handicap match. Cena will face, Kane later tonight. [C]

Mind of Marv: Loaded show, I likes!

Michael Cole is with the SD commentators tonight and they said that Taker faces Punk tonight.

[Q2] 2. Natalya, Kelly Kelly, and the Bella Twins defeated LayCool, Alicia Fox and Maryse in 3:00. Fox and Kelly started the match. Fox hit some quick offense on Kelly and Nattie and Maryse got in the matchup. Nattie dominated Maryse for a nearfall. Nattie went for the Sharpshooter, but McCool hit a big boot to her and the Divas interfered in the match.

Hornswoggle grabbed Layla under the ring and chased after her. McCool hit a big boot to Horny and Nattie hit a double dropkick to LayCool. Nattie applied the sharpshooter to Maryse for the win…

Mind of Marv: What a clusterf*** of a match…Natalya was the only one that looked strong in this throwaway match. And cool points for Michelle McCool hitting a much needed big boot to Hornswoggle…

Jack Swagger homecoming celebration is next…[C]

The show returned with the announcers hyping NXT's move to WWE.com and Swagger got a hometown reception (with Boomer Sooner in the background) and some goofball came out in an Eagle suit on.

Swagger thanked the crowd and got more cheers than boos. Swagger put himself over with the hometown crowd. Swagger said he has a huge announcement and he has something to say…he has a problem with everyone in attendance and the state of Oklahoma. He said he put Oklahoma in the map and called the goofball in the Eagle suit his personal mascot. He said that they moved to somewhere that has class and he threw up the Hook 'Em Horns sign which got major heat and said that Texas will defeat Oklahoma and it will be a blowout.

Mind of Marv: They pay Swagger to turn heel on his alma mater? Hell, I would do the same thing…

He was bitching about not having a parade and said that he will continue to give back to OU and called himself Oklahoma's king.

[Q3] He said it was one person that was qualified of the coronation and proclaimed himself the official and undisputed king of Oklahoma. He put a crown on and demanded everyone to worship him….and Edge came out to a HUGE pop. Swagger asked why he was interrupted and Edge said that they will not continue and because he destroyed the computer, he was coming around and show himself on TV.

Edge ripped Swagger for his lisp and his mascot. Edge attacked the mascot by beating on him and speared the eagle.

Mind of Marv: Is Edge on the brand officially and is booked as a babyface?

Cena faces Kane later tonight in a lumberjack match…

Barrett gave Nexus a pep talk and if anyone beats on Nexus on SD, they will be suspended and they discussed a strategy. [C]

Mind of Marv: Its obvious that the Raw roster will attack Nexus later tonight, so they are not fooling me or anyone else…

Cody Rhodes gave us a lesson on perspiration. Video of the Nexus attacking Cena, Show, MVP and Dolph was shown from earlier.

3. The Nexus defeated Big Show in 2:00. The Nexus attacked Show and he made them look weak by tossing most of them out. The Nexus got together and beat on Show. Nexus applied all types of Submissions to Show and won by submission…

Mind of Marv: Wow, what a waste of time…

Post match, Gabriel hit the 450 on Show. Barrett told Gabriel to hit another 450 on Show and he connected with no problem.

Mysterio comes back later tonight…[C]

[Q4] Footage was shown from moments ago when the Nexus beat on Big Show. The Kane and Taker feud was reviewed along with their matchup at HIAC. Punk came out for his match against Taker, next. [C]

[Q5] Cena vs. Kane was hyped again. Paul Bearer came out with the urn and Taker came right out behind him.

4. The Undertaker defeated C.M. Punk in 5:00. Punk got the early advantage, but Taker threw him out and into the security railing. Taker hit a big boot and leg drop to Punk outside the ring. Taker hit Old School on Punk and got a big pop from the crowd.

Taker missed a big boot and Punk took advantage with stomps a punches in the corner. Punk hit the high knee and bulldog on Taker. Taker rose up and hit a clothesline on Punk. Taker hit Snake Eyes, the big boot and clothesline for a nearfall. Taker hit the chokeslam and Striker used the Antoine Dodson line…ugh.

Taker hit the Tombstone on Punk for the win…

Mind of Marv: Wow…extremely fast match with Punk getting squashed in the second half of this match…sigh. It seems like Punk always job to Taker 98% of the time…

Taker posed with Bearer and Mysterio will return later tonight…[C]

[Q6] The Smack of the night is Alberto Del Rio attacking Mysterio last month. Del Rio came out with a classic Jaguar…

Del Rio introduced himself and put himself over instead of Mysterio. Del Rio talked about injuring Rey and said he was going to say sorry and introduced him and a guy brought a Chihuahua out. Del Rio talked to the dog and apologized to the dog. Del Rio kissed the dog and wiped his mouth with his handkerchief and Rey came out…

Rey attacked him and hit a dropkick on Del Rio. He beat the shit out of Del Rio's ring announcer and hit 619 on him. [C]

Mind of Marv: Decent segment which will lead into a long program between these two which is fine with me. Del Rio is a star and Mysterio needs to stay out the title picture, so this is perfect.

[Q7] 5. WWE Champion Randy Orton defeated Cody Rhodes in 2:40. Orton took advantage of this match early until Cody tried and failed with some offense. Orton went for his middle rope DDT, but Cody got out of the move. Drew distracted Orton and Cody pushed him into the ring post. Cody got the advantage and went for a cover for a nearfall. Cody applied a crossface armbar but Orton countered an RKO for the win.

Post match, Drew tried the Future Shock but he caught an RKO. Sheamus came out and hit his finisher kick on Orton to some good heat…[C]

Mind of Marv: What a way to bury Rhodes, yet hype the HIAC match for the WWE title. It was OK, but this live show is really looking mediocre at this point and with my Bears facing the Giants on Sunday night football, HIAC looks like a huge bust now…

Cena faces Kane with the Nexus as lumberjacks, next…

[Q8] 6. World Heavyweight Champion Kane and John Cena ended in a no-contest in 8:30. Kane stomped Cena out and hit some good offense on him, with a nice low dropkick for a nearfall. Kane uppercutted Cena and hit an Irish whip to him. Cena came back with kicks and Kane threw him out of the ring and the Nexus beat the crap out him outside of the ring. [C]

The show returned with Kane applying a body scissors to Cena. Kane hit an uppercut to Cena. Kane missed a clothesline and Cena hit his moves of Doom and hit the 5 knuckle shuffle on Kane. He went fot the AA but Kane went for the AA but Cena knocked him out and the Nexus didn't touch him. Kane took out the Nexus and Cena did the same.

The lights went out and Taker attacked Kane. Taker continued with the attack in the crowd. Taker clearly dominated Kane with this attack. Kane hit a big boot and Taker rose up quickly and Kane grasped him. Paul Bearer raised the urn and Taker got powered up and chokeslammed Kane. Taker tried to tombstone him but Kane rolled out of the ring and said that it's not over big brother…and he will finish him.

Taker posed with the urn with Paul Bearer and the show closed…

Mind of Marv: Interesting segment to this program which can go either way, but I see Kane still retaining in this HIAC match. This program will continue and Taker will win in his 20th anniversary at the Survivor Series in November. Overall, this live show was an "C" at best as far as an grade. It felt Gerwitz and Russo booked and we will explain more of this show with me, Rich Twilling and Chris Shore in a triple threat audio…

Chris Shore will provide the Smackdown Hitlist in the morning and any feedback should be forwarded to dotnetmarv@gmail.com and I'll see you next week.
