7/15 Shore's WWE Superstars Live Coverage: The Bella Twins vs. Maryse and Jillian Hall, JTG vs. Chavo Guerrero, and a rare Chris Jericho appearance as he takes on Yoshi Tatsu
Jul 15, 2010 - 07:00 PM

By Chris Shore

Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Lexington and Louisville, Ky.

[Q1] The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Todd Grisham and Matt Striker welcomed us to Superstars. JTG made his ring entrance. Oh goodie. Chavo Guerrero was out next while a video recapped his triple threat match with MVP and Dolph Ziggler last week on Smackdown...

1. Chavo Guerrero defeated JTG at 5:28. JTG worked a headlock from the start. He whipped Chavo to the corner and charged, but Chavo hit a big boot. Then it got bad. JTG dumped Chavo over the top, and they traded a string of slow dodges until Chavo hit a drop kick that sent JTG to the floor. He rolled JTG back in and JTG came back and worked his Otungan offense. The crowd died at about this point, and JTG missed the mug shot. Chavo followed with the Frog Splash for the win...The announce team hyped Chris Jericho vs. Yoshi Tatsu...[C]

Shore’s Slant: Really? Really? That was the best JTG can do? Chavo can make just about anybody look like a star, and that was the best it could be. It was awful. I would rather watch a Divas match than that. Dear god was that awful.

Vance Archer and Curt Hawkins made their ring entrance. Local jobbers Jamin Canseco and Matt Cross were already in the ring...

[Q2] 2. Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer squashed Jamin Canseco and Matt Cross at 2:58. Hawkins started and beat on one of the guys. Archer tagged in and roughed up the same guy. That guy finally ran and got a tag. But Archer punched that guy in the face before he could get in. Archer crushed him and tagged in Hawkins. They hit their combo finisher for the win...

A video recapped Nexus on NXT...The Bellas were shown backstage heading towards the ring...[C]

Shore’s Slant: Wow, those first two matches and now a Divas match. Jericho better be a god tonight or Jason's going to get tired of the emails I send him threatening to quit. Superstars started out with such promise. It is a complete throwaway hour at this point. What a shame.

Maryse and Jillian made their entrance to Maryse's music as Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler took over on the headsets. You have no idea how sad that sentence makes me from start to finish. Jillian sang “Anything you can can do, I can do better” to the Bellas. The Bellas made their entrance...

3. The Bella Twins defeated Maryse and Jillian at 3:38. Jillian punched Brie(?) in the face, and then mocked Maryse's hair flip at the rope. Brie kicked her for it, but Jillian hit a big clothesline and tagged in Maryse. Maryse worked a chin lock until Brie stood and dropped her on her back. Nikki(?) tagged in and slammed Maryse. Jillian ran in and rolled Maryse to the floor and took her place. The ref yelled at her and told her to get out of the ring.

[Q3] She did, but Maryse attacked from behind and tagged in Jillian. Jillian mounted Nikki and punched her until the ref pulled her off. Brie(?) ran in and made the switch with Nikki(?). Jillian tried to stand the Bella, but she reversed into a jackknife cover for the win...[C]

Shore’s Slant: This is a tough one. On one hand, this once again made a mockery of women's wrestling. The reason a guy like Santino works is because everybody else is taken seriously. When nobody is taken seriously, this type of angle just makes things worse. On the other....Jillian trying to switch with Maryse was pretty funny.

A Money in the Bank hype video played...Michael Cole narrated a video that recapped the end of Raw...The announce team ran down the MITB card...Chris Jericho made his ring entrance...[C]

[Q4] 4. Chris Jericho defeated Yoshi Tatsu at 12:54. Jericho broke the first tie up dirty and went on the offensive. He worked a headlock until Tatsu whipped him off. They ran the ropes and Tatsu hit a chop. Jericho rolled to the floor to escape. Tatsu hit a baseball slide on Jericho and worked punches on the floor. He rolled Jericho back in the ring and went to the top. Jericho pushed him to the floor and Tatsu sold an ankle injury...[C]

Back at 6:01, Jericho worked the back. He hit a knee drop on Tatsu's face, which busted him open. He tossed Tatsu to the floor, and the ref stopped the match to attend to Yoshi's eye. Jericho got a chair and sat down in the ring while they worked on the cut. Classic. I don't know how long Tatsu was down, but a weird cut later, Jericho rolled Tatsu in the ring and choked him on the rope. Tatsu pushed off and worked his strike offense on Jericho. He charged at Jericho in the corner, and Jericho hit a big boot.

Jericho tried for a Lionsault, but Tatsu moved. Jericho landed on his feet, but Tatsu hit a spinning heel kick for two. Jericho came right back and hit a double underhook backbreaker for two. Tatsu hit a running knee for two, and Jericho came right back with a clothesline for two. They traded punches, and Tatsu hit a roundhouse kick and went to the top. He tried for another spinng heel kick, but Jericho moved and locked in the Walls of Jericho. Tatsu almost made it to the ropes, but Jericho pulled him back to the center of the ring and sat down. Tatsu tapped...[C]

Shore’s Slant: I don't think that saved the show, but it was a good match. I think Tatsu was busted oped before the Jericho knee drop. He pulled the knee pad out of the way, and the announce team kept pointing it out. If so, bravo on a quick decision to “cause” a bleed. But getting a chair and biting your fingernails was the best blood-stoppage act I have seen. He got major heat, and the crowd was still hot after the match restarted. I'll have more to say tomorrow on the hitlist. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
