6/24 Shore's WWE Superstars Live Coverage: Brie Bella vs. Jillian Hall, Luke Gallows vs. Chris Masters and William Regal vs. R-Truth
Jun 24, 2010 - 07:00 PM

By Chris Shore

Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Bridgeport, Conn and Manchester, N.H.

[Q1] The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Todd Grisham and Matt Striker welcomed us to Superstars...JTG made his ring entrance. The Dudebusters were out next...

1. JTG defeated Caylen Croft (w/Trent Barreta) at 2:50. They botched a take down right out of the gate, and that was the best part of the match. JTG hit the Shout-out for the win, and then brought a bunch of kids in the ring to celebrate...The announce team hyped the R-Truth vs. William Regal main event...[C]

Shore’s Slant: JTG and the Dudebusters suck. That is all.

Luke Gallows made his entrance with Serena. Chris Masters was out next...

2. Luke Gallows (w/Serena) defeated Chris Masters at 9:41. Masters worked the arm to start with shoulder blocks and an arm bar. Masters hooked a suplex and the camera zoomed in, so it looked weird. Gallows rolled to the floor with Serena and recovered into the break...

[Q2][C] Back at 5:19, Masters tried for the Masterlock, but Gallows drove him to the floor. Gallows went to the floor and whipped Masters into the railing. He rolled him back in the ring and hit a splash to the back for two. And in typical WWE logic, Gallows worked a head rest hold. Masters tried to slam to escape, and collapsed because of the bad back. Gallows hit a suplex for two, and finally worked a back rest hold.

Masters escaped and went on offense. He hit a stiff shoulder block, and then another from the second rope for two. Gallows reversed a whip and hit a big boot. Gallows tried for the Gallows Pole, but Masters powered out and tried for the Masterlock. Gallows drove him back into the corner, but Masters hit a kick and went to the top. Serena crawled up on the apron and distracted Masters. Gallows kicked Masters, and then hooked the Gallows Pole from off the top rope for the win...A video package recapped NXT this week...[C]

Shore’s Slant: A pretty good big man match. It didn't set the world on fire or anything, but not terrible. Masters has about used up his entire run, and I expect him to make way for NXT rookies soon. Gallows is incredibly underused, and I hope we see him in a real feud soon.

[Q3] Jillian made her ring entrance wearing her head set as Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler took over on commentary. Jillian tried to sing the soccer “Ole” chant. Brie's music hit to end it...

3. Brie Bella (w/Nikki) defeated Jillian at 3:41. They scored some mat wrestling on each other, and then Jillian slapped Brie on the ass. Brie went nuts and attacked. Jillian reversed and choked Brie on the ropes. Brie came back and hit three drop kicks. She whipped Jillian tot he corner and charged. Jillian dumped her over the top. Nikki ran over and fell on the ground beside Brie. The ref went to the floor and said they were not going to do that to him. He checked them and said Brie was all sweaty and to get in the ring. Jillian clotheslined her and rolled her back in the ring. She stomped Brie in the corner until the ref pulled her off. The twins made the switch then, and Nikki scored a roll-up for the win...[C]

Shore’s Slant: This was a fair Diva's match. Jillian is very good, and the Bellas are better than most of the other women. Still, with no storyline for the women, and none apparently in the future, it's hard to get involved in the match.

[Q4] A Sheamus hype video played...The announce team narrated a video that recapped the Vince McMahon beat down, and then hyped the GM's response that there will be “appropriate consequences...” R-Truth made his lame ass entrance...[C]

4. R-Truth defeated William Regal at 4:53. They traded armbars to start, then Truth tried for a shoulder tackle. Regal withstood it and screamed like a wild man. Classic. Truth ran the ropes and hit a flying leg scissors. He followed with a drop kick, but landed funny or something and hurt his knee. Regal worked the knee mercilessly. Truth suddenly punched back and hit a DDT for two. Regal reversed the next move into his throw slam, but Truth stood and hit the Lie Detector for the win...

Shore’s Slant: That was %#$*&^ terrible! Truth can't even perform a correct botch? And less than five minutes? Get the ^@$# out of here! I'm offended. What an hour to start my end of week shift. I'll have more to say tomorrow on the hitlist. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
