Jun 3, 2010 - 07:00 PM

By Chris Shore

Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Austin and Dallas, Tex.

[Q1] The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler welcomed us to Superstars...Mark Henry made his ring entrance. He hyped the crowd by doing “Hook 'Em Horns.” Primo made his entrance next...

1. Mark Henry defeated Primo at 3:15. Primo used his quickness to get in a few strikes, but Henry just powered him around. He went for a leg drop, but Primo moved. Primo hit a seated drop kick and covered, but Henry super powered out. Primo worked strikes and stomps on the leg. Primo went to the second rope and jumped, bu Henry chest bumped him out of the air to go on offense. He whipped Primo to the corner. Primo rolled through the turnbuckles and hit a springboard cross body. Henry caught him and hit the World's Strongest Slam for the win...The announce team hyped Tiffany vs. Michelle McCool...[C]

Shore’s Slant: Super fast match. It's hard to give a fair opinion of a three minute match because there wasn't much to judge. It didn't suck, but it wasn't exactly good either. Just another opener for the Thursday show.

Back from commercial, Gail Kim made her ring entrance. Jillian Hall was out next...

[Q2] 2. Gail Kim defeated Jillian Hall at 5:29. The first minute of the match was in the last quarter. Kim scored a quick roll up for two. Jillian drove Kim to the mat by her hair for two. Kim came right back and hit a wheelbarrow into a roll up for two. She hit a drop kick that spilled Jillian to the floor, and then followed with a flying head scissors through the ropes. Cool spot. Kim tried to attack again and Jiliian drove her face first into the apron.

Kim rolled back in the ring and Jillian covered for two. Jillian worked heel chokes and hair pulls. Kim tried for another wheelbarrow lift, but Jillian reversed into a face buster for two. She whipped Kim to the corner and tried to hit a flipping elbow. Kim jumped up and hit a hurricnaranna. Jillian pulled the hair and tried for a back flip splash, but Kim got the knees up. Kim went to the top, but Jillian stopped her and hit a second rope superplex for two. She flipped out and tried for a backslide, but Kim rolled through and hit Eat Defeat for the win...The announce team hyped Tiffany vs. McCool...[C]

Shore’s Slant: Holy crap! Those two might be the best workers on WWE's current active roster. We all know Kim is underutilized. Granted she did that to herself to some degree by stinking it up for a while, but she is back on form. And Jillian Hall is the single mist underrated woman in all of wrestling. She's like Kane. She always has a good match, especially when you put her with someone who can work. She deserves at least a short title run for carrying the division.

Back from commercial, team LayCool made their entrance as Todd Grisham and Matt Striker took over on the headsets. Tiffany made her generic entrance and touched her foot to the back of her head. Ooooookay...

3. Michelle McCool (w/Layla) defeated Tiffany at 2:55. Tiffany started with an arm bar and hammer lock, and even managed to stand on her head. McCool tossed her to the floor and then drove her knee into Tiffany's head against the announcer's table. Tiffany made it back in at nine, and McCool beat on her. Tiffany mounted a comeback and hit a monkey flip, but McCool rolled through a Sunset flip attempt and hit the Faithbreaker for the win...

[Q3] Backstage, Vickie and Chavo Guerrero were backstage talking about his match with Christian. Dolph Ziggler came in and Vickie got all silly. She dropped her papers and looked at Ziggler's ass when he bent over to pick them up. She dropped them again and then touched his hands as he helped her pick them up again. She finally “fell” into him and said they would talk after the show. He left and Chavo eyed Vickie into the break...[C]

Shore’s Slant: Congrats to Drew McIntyre for having a fiance that flexible. That's about all the good I can say about that match. What a shame. The Vickie thing is the best thing that ever happened to me. I get sick watching and will stop eating for sure.

An Evan Bourne hype video aired...A video recapped the NXT finale and Wade Barrett's win...Christian made his ring entrance...[C]

Shore’s Slant: Congrats to Wade Barrett for his win.

[Q4] A video package recapped the tag match with Hornswoggle, Christian, Dolph Ziggler and Chavo Guerrero last week on Smackdown, including Ziggler's beat down on Christian. Chavo made his ring entrance...

4. Chavo Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler defeated Christian in a handicap match at 12:51. Christian hit an early missile drop kick for two and worked his offense on Chavo. He tossed Chavo over the top rope and hit a plancha. Vickie suddenly came out and did her “Excuse me,” bit. She announced the match was now a handicap match, and Chavo's tag partner was Ziggler. Ziggler made his ring entrance...[C]

Back at 6:55, Christian hit a drop kick on Chavo and went to the second rope. Ziggler distracted him and Chavo pulled him to the mat for two. Ziggler tagged in and he worked stomps and a rope choke on Christian. He worked the arm with a rest hold. Christian escaped and tried for a drop kick, but Ziggler grabbed the legs and hit a slingshot into the corner, followed by a Stinger splash on the back for two. Chavo tagged in and stomped Christian in the corner until the ref pulled him off. Ziggler choked Christian in the corner and then tagged in.

Ziggler whipped Christian to the corner and charged. Christian moved and hit the pendulum kick to take control. He hit the one man flapjack, and then did his middle rope choke before going to the floor to hit Ziggler and Chavo. He hit a reverse hangman on the top rope and went to the top. He missed the crossbody, and Chavo tagged in and hit two of three Amigos. Christian reversed the last into a reverse DDT and kicked Ziggler to the floor. He tried for the Kill Switch, but Chavo reversed into a Gory Bomb. Chavo went to the top, and Ziggler blind tagged him. Chavo missed the frog splash, Christian hit the Kill Switch, and Ziggler hit the Zig Zag for the win. Post match, Vickie was shown backstage watching on a video looking very happy...

Shore’s Slant: It's nice to have a little star power on Superstars, but does Ziggler really get over when he can only win in a handicap match? I mean. All Christian needed was Hornswoggle to get the win last week, so this makes Ziggler look like a punk to some degree. It was a fun match. Everybody worked hard. I just question furthering the storyline on the Thursday show. I'll have more to say tomorrow on the hitlist. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
