5/13 Shore's WWE Superstars Live Coverage: The Bella Twins vs. Maryse and Jillian Hall, Vladimir Kozlov vs. Ryan Mitchell, Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer team up, and Dolph Ziggler vs. Chris Masters
May 13, 2010 - 07:00 PM

By Chris Shore

Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Pittsburgh, Pa and Buffalo, N.Y.

[Q1] The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler welcomed us to Superstars…Jillian and Maryse made their entrance together, followed by the Bellas…

1. Maryse and Jillian Hall defeated The Bella Twins at 3:16. Maryse and Bella 1 started out. Bella 1 put her hand in Maryse's face and hit a snap mare takeover. She tagged in Bella 2 and they double teamed Maryse. Maryse beat a hasty retreat and tagged in Jillian. Jillian worked over the Bellas and tagged in Maryse. In the end, Maryse hit the French Kiss for the win. Post match, Maryse and Jillian worked over the non-pinned Bella. Eve ran out for the save. Maryse pushed Jillian into Eve and ran. Eve hit a neckbreaker on Jillian and yelled at Maryse while she backed up the ramp…The announce team hyped the main event…[C]

Shore’s Slant: I tried to get up for this match…..and I failed. WWE continues to treat the women as second class citizens, and they get second class coverage.

Back from commercial, Kozlov made his ring entrance. Local Jobber Ryan Mitchell was already in the ring…

2. Vladimir Kozlov squashed Ryan Mitchell in 0:45. Typical squash match. Kozlov won with his finisher…

[Q2] A video package recapped NXT eleminations…[C]

Shore’s Slant: Wow, I go away for the week and Marv left Superstars in bad shape. This has been awful. Speaking of, thanks for all the emails and well wishes. I miss my Pop-Pop, but I have hope for seeing him again.

Back from commercial, Todd Grisham and Matt Striker took over on commentary. The setup the Smackdown Rebound that recapped the Drew McIntyre/Matt Hardy segment…The announce team hyped the Christian vs. Kofi Kingston Intercontinental Championship Tournament final for Smackdown and then ran down the Over the Limit card…The announce team setup another video that recapped the current Randy Orton/Edge feud…[C]

[Q3] Back from commercial, a video package recapped the tour of Mexico…Back ringside, Vance Archer and Curt Hawkins made their ring entrance. Their local jobbers were already in the ring…

3. Vance Archer and Curt Hawkins squashed Matthew Bush and James White at 2:09. Tag team squash. Oh what fun. They won with an Archer body slam followed by a top rope elbow from Hawkins. Post match, Archer grabbed a mic and said, "Pay attention!" Hawkins cut a promo and said they had 30 days contracts to "make an impact." OK…

A video package hyped Big Show by showing all his recent knockouts. The announce team hyped his match at Over the Limit with Swagger, and then the main event…[C]

Shore’s Slant: Ugh, that was awful. Does anyone care about Hawkins or Archer? Anyone? No? This may be the worst 40 minutes in a long time.

Back from commercial, Dolph Ziggler made his ring entrance. Masters was out next…

4. Dolph Ziggler defeated Chris Masters at 14:06. Ziggler got the early advantage until Masters hit a shoulder tackle. They ran the ropes, and Masters almost got the Masterlock on. Ziggler escaped to the floor to regroup.

[Q4] Ziggler tried to go on the offense, but Masters drove him into the turnbuckle and tossed him into the air. Ziggler went back to the floor to recover into the break…[C]

Back at 6:59, Masters had an armbar on Ziggler. Masters tossed Ziggler to the floor and started to go out, but Ziggler kicked Masters on the way out and took control. He worked Masters in the corner with strikes and then locked in his own armbar. Ziggler rolled into several rest holds until Masters lifted him for an electric chair.

Masters went on the offense and hit a stiff slingshot into the corner. He whipped Ziggler to the corner and charged. Ziggler moved and scored a roll up for two. Masters came right back with a double backbreaker for two. Masters tried for the Masterlock, but Ziggler went to the apron. He hit a hangman on Masters and tried for the sleeper, but Masters fought out. Masters reversed into a Masterlock try, but Ziggler ran him into the turnbuckle and followed with the Zig Zag for the win. Post match, Ziggler celebrated in the ring to end the show…

Shore’s Slant: Wow, a boring match to close. Too many rest holds. The action at the end was hot, but it was ten minutes too long for that little action. Total fail by WWE this week. I'll have more to say tomorrow in the hitlist, and Mr. Marvin Hermanstyne will probably be with you solo again tomorrow night as we memorialize my grandfather. But I will be back with the Smackdown hitlist on Saturday. Thanks for reading.
