2/11 Shore's WWE Superstars Live Coverage: Santino Marella vs. Jack Swagger, Christian vs. Zack Ryder in a non-title match, and JTG vs. Dolph Ziggler
Feb 11, 2010 - 07:00 PM

Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Lafayette and Baton Rouge, La.

[Q1] The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler welcomed us to Superstars. They hped the JTG vs. Ziggler main event…Santino’s music and he came out to a decent pop. He cut a promo on the “All-American American, Jack Swagger, Swagger.” He said he was angered by Swagger’s actions, and he would teach him a lesson “so good” Swagger would call him Professor. Swagger made his entrance…

1. Jack Swagger defeated Santino Marella at 4:40. Swagger hit a shoulder tackle and followed with his pushup bit. Santino ran the ropes and hit a shoulder tackle that staggered Swagger, and followed with a drop kick. Swagger rolled to the floor, and Santino mocked the pushups. Swagger ran back in and took control.

Swagger worked his arrogant heel offense for several two counts. He drove Santino into the corner, and Santino hulked up. Swagger tried for a clothesline and Santino split ducked and hit a hip toss. He followed with a jumping headlock for two. He set up the Cobra, but Swagger ducked and hit a brutal clothesline. He followed with the gut wrench powerbomb for the win…

The Ask a Diva’s section asked if women should buy their men something for Valentines and their dream celebrity Valentines. Katie Lea said Christopher Walken. Wait, what…[C]

Shore’s Slant: I have to have a “Fear the Cobra” t-shirt. Silly match, but God help me, I love Santino Marella. I have no problem with his act, and wouldn’t mind seeing another run with the mid-card title. I also wouldn’t mind a trade to Smackdown so I could see it a little more. And WTF is wrong with Katie Lea?

Back from commercial, an Elimination Chamber hype video played…

[Q2] Back ringside…damn…back ringside, Zack Ryder made his entrance as Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton took over on commentary. They said this would probably be ECW’s last match on Superstars. Christian made his ring entrance…

2. Christian defeated Zack Ryder (w/Rosa Mendes) at 10:02. Ryder slapped Christian. Christian rolled him up for two, and hooked in a headlock. Ryder hit a back suplex to escape and earn a near fall. Ryder hit the ropes and Christian hit a one man flapjack for two. He clotheslined Ryder over the top, and then dropkicked him to the floor from the apron. Ryder tried to leave and Christian went and got him. He put Ryder on the apron and climbed the stairs. Ryder hit a DDT on the apron, and started to work on Christian on the floor…[C]

Back at 5:47, Ryder hit a reverse side Russian leg sweep for two, and locked in a rest hold. Christian battled back and hit a forearm shot before choking Ryder on the ropes. He hit a second rope dropkick for two, and called for the fans. Ryder hit a punch and tried for the leg lariat, but Christian reversed into a sitdown powerbomb for two. Christian missed a flying crossbody, and Ryder scored the leg lariat for two.

Christian reversed the next move into a Kill Switch attempt, but Ryder hooked a school boy for two. He whipped Christian to the corner and charged. Christian hit the pendulum kick, flying forearm, and Kill Switch for the win…The Ted DiBiase Hall of Fame video aired…

[Q3]The announce team hyped the main event…[C] The first commercial was for NXT

Shore’s Slant: An OK match. I had hoped for more from the last match on Superstars, but it wasn’t bad. They could have cut two or three minutes from it and it would have been better. And IO think most people agree with me when I say, “About time,” for DiBiase’s induction. Congrats to him and his family for the honor.

Back from commercial, a John Cena hype video aired…

Shore’s Slant: I’m glad they played this because I’m still not sure about this Cena guy. I need to see more of him before I can have an opinion.

Back ringside, Todd Grisham and Matt Striker took over on the headsets and setup the Raw Rebound video. It covered the latest entry in the McMahon/Hart saga…The announce team hyped the Elimination Chamber PPV…Ziggler made his ring entrance…[C]

Back from commercial, a Wrestlemania hype video played…Back ringside, JTG made his entrance solo…

[Q4] 3. Dolph Ziggler defeated JTG at 13:04. Ziggler hid in the ropes to start. They traded body slams, and Ziggler hid in the ropes again. Ziggler ran the ropes and they botched a move. It was so bad, I have no idea what they were trying to do. JTG hit a clothesline for quick two and they faced off again. Ziggler hit a couple of moves, but JTG came right back and spilled Ziggler to the floor. Ziggler recovered into the break…[C]

Back from commercial, a video hyped Raw next week…Back ringside at the 7:05 mark, Ziggler had a rest hold on JTG. A video showed Ziggler tossing JTG to the floor during the break. JTG escaped the hold, but Ziggler slammed him and hit his series of elbows for one. He went right back to the rest hold. JTG escaped, but Ziggler hit a Fameasser for one. Ziggler hit a flipping neckbreaker for one, and went back to the rest hold.

JTG finally made his comeback by hitting the Boxcutter backbreaker. JTG went crazy and hit a ton of flying moves. He hit a mugshot for two. Ziggler scored a roll up with the tights for two, and JTG followed up with a flying leg lariat for two. He went to dive on Ziggler in the corner, and Ziggler moved. Ziggler hit the Zig-Zag for the win to end the show…

Shore’s Slant: An OK match to close the show. Much like the Christian match, they could have cut a few minutes off and it would have been better. Not the best Superstars ever, but certainly not the worst. I’ll have more to say tomorrow on the hitlist. Twilling’s up with TNA Live Coverage. Thanks for watching along with me tonight.
