Superstars on WGN America
Taped in Phoenix, Ariz and Las Vegas, Nev.

[Q1] The opening video aired, followed by Kofi Kingston’s music hit, and Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler welcomed us to Superstars as Kofi made his entrance. MVP was out next, followed by Zack Ryder alone, and Carlito with Tarver…

1. Kofi Kingston and MVP defeated Zack Ryder and Carlio (w/Michael Tarver/) at 11:40. MVP and Carlito started. Tarver yelled at MVP and he rolled to the floor. MVP and Tarver argued on the floor and MVP took him out. Carlito rolled out and MVP went back to the ring. Carlito calmed Tarver and went back to the ring for the first lockup. MVP hit several strikes and Ryder tagged in. MVP tossed Ryder around and hit the Ballin’ elbow. Carlito pulled Ryder to the floor. Kofi ran in and they hit baseball slides on both guys. The heels recovered into the break…[C]

Back at 6:24, Kofi had an armbar on Ruder. Ryder tried to escape and Kofi hit a monkey flip. MVP tagged in and he worked knee lifts on Ryder. He followed with a suplex for two. MVP took out Carlito, but Ryder came back with the leg lariat for two. Carlito tagged back in and hit a neckbreaker for two. Kofi got the crowd going, but Carlito hit a flying elbow for two.

Ryder tagged back in and hit a seated dropkick to the back of MVP’s head for two. Carlito tagged back in and stomped MVP. Tarver cheered Carlito on from the outside. Carlito mimed shooting a basketball and MVP fought back. Carlito hit a clothesline for two, but MVP came right back with a throw.

[Q2] Kofi got the hot tag and hit a high cross body and the boom drop. He teased Trouble in Paradise, but Ryder ran over to stop him. MVP hit the drive by on Ryder, Carlito took out MVP, and Kofi hit TIP on Carlito for the win…A Wrestlemania hype video aired…The announce team hyped a replay of the HBK retirement speech for later…[C]

Shore’s Slant: This match went too long because nobody cares about these pairings. I had hoped we were done with the random pairings from the past few months, but it looks like I’m stuck. Everybody worked well, but there was just no reason to get emotionally invested.

Back from commercial, Yoshi Tatsu made his ring entrance. Regal and Sheffield made their entrance…

2. Yoshi Tatsu vs. William Regal (w/Skip Sheffield). Tatsu and Regal started with about a minute and a half of mat wrestling. Regal hit a weak elbow and went on attack. He worked his stiff offense and locked in a rest hold. Tatsu fought out and hit his front roll into a seated kick for two. Tatsu went to the top and jumped off. Regal moved, and Tatsu crashed to the mat. Regal locked in the Regal stretch, but Yoshi made the ropes. Regal stomped on Yoshi until the ref forced the break. Tatsu came right back with two kicks to the head for the win…

[Q3] The announce team setup a video that showed John Cena on the Nickelodeon show True Jackson VP that will air this Saturday night at 8:30 ET…The announce team hyped the tag team main event for later, and HBK’s farewell speech for next…[C]

Shore’s Slant: Do you have any idea how jacked my 11 year old is for Cena on True Jackson. Ugh. Anyway, the ending to the match was the weakest thing I believe I have ever seen. I honestly mean that. Tatsu kicked him twice, Regal took three or four steps before falling, and then Tatsu waited for a moment before covering. So strange. What a terrible match this was.

Back from commercial, a Wrestlemania replay video aired…Matt Striker and Todd Grisham took over on commentary and setup the HBK goodbye video…Croft and Baretta had to follow that with their weak ass entrance. That sucked for them. They cut a promo and called themselves the Nude Busters…I think. They tried to punk the Hart Dynasty…I think. They said something else, but I quit listening…[C]

Shore’s Slant: Holy cow. That was terrible. Crap and Boretta, not HBK. Duh. Sorry, I had a little childish moment there.

[Q4] Back from commercial, The Hart Dynasty came out to a big pop…

3. The Hart Dynasty defeated Caylen Croft and Trent Baretta 11:09. Baretta and Kidd started. They ran the ropes and Kidd hit a swift kick to the stomach. Croft tagged in and Kidd tagged in Smith. Smith mat wrestled with Croft. Croft escaped and went for a dropkick. Smith swatted the dropkick away and took about 30 minutes to try and lock the Sharpshooter on. Just as he rolled Croft over, Baretta grabbed Croft and dragged him from the ring. They recovered on the floor…[C]

Back at 6:35, Kidd had an armbar on Croft. Croft made his feet and Baretta got a blind tag. Kidd was pushed into the ropes and Baretta hit a leg drop on the back of Kidd’s head. Baretta worked stomps and tagged Croft back in. They worked in and out, hitting various moves for near falls. They tried for double team move, but Kidd hit a double drop kick and tagged in Smith. Smith worked his offense on Baretta. He hit the back suplex for two when Croft broke it up. The Harts hit the Hart Attack, Smith took out Croft, and Kidd locked in the Sharpshooter on Baretta for the win…

Shore’s Slant: Nice to see the Harts get a match that doesn’t involve Cryme Tyme. Shitty for the Harts to face Croft and Baretta. I forgot they were even on the roster. Still, it was neat to see the Harts get cheered. I just hope they drop the Sharpshooter gimmick before too long. It’s cool now, but it could get old quick. I’ll have more to say tomorrow in the hitlist. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you then.
