Taped October 10 in Winter Park, Florida

[Q1] After titles, Byron Saxton marked his return to the commentary table by introducing himself, William Regal and Renee Young. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady were shown on the stage, and after Amore introduced the pair, Cassady said that Sylvester Lefort and his Legionnaires have been cheating to win as of late. He called them spineless, and Amore called them "Chicken tenders". Amore then lead the crowd in calling Lefort "Swaft".  After they got in the ring, Lefort came down in wrestling gear, along with Alexander Rusev...

1. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. Alexander Rusev and Sylvester Lefort. Rusev dominated Cassady from the bell, hitting him with kicks, headbutts and body checks. Rusev then threw Amore into the ring and hit him with a running body check as well. Lefort got in the ring and celebrated with Rusev, but Rusev grabbed him, shot him to the ropes and hit him with a body check too. Rusev applied the camel clutch to Cassady, and got the quick submission win...

Alexander Rusev and Sylvester Lefort defeated Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady in 1:32.

The mysterious woman from last week appeared again, standing on the stage as Rusev bellowed in the ring before making his way up the ramp and out of the arena. The woman followed as Regal said Rusev would be "World Champion within a year"... [C]

Gutt Reaction: With how dominant he has been, you have to presume Rusev is on the verge of a push up the rankings. Cutting him loose from Lefort and his laughable stable is a smart move if the goal is to get Rusev over as a believable monster threat. I think Regal’s predictions may be a little ambitious though, as I have seen nothing thus far that would make me believe he has potential beyond the mid card.

[Q2] A Raw Rebound aired...

Aiden English made his way to the ring singing a very awkward song about how much better he is than everyone else. As Regal proclaimed his "man crush" on English, Jason Jordan was shown to be English’s opponent...

2. Aiden English vs. Jason Jordan. Jordan applied a waistlock to English and tried to throw him around the ring, but English escaped and hit a neckbeaker. English applied a headlock, and started singing "Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep little Jordan". Jordan escaped, and managed to hit a dropkick, but English regained control shortly after with a forearm smash, setting up his Side Effect finisher, which Saxton dubbed the "Director’s Cut"...

Aiden English defeated Jason Jordan in 1:44.

English performed an encore of his opening song, and got showered by roses thrown from the hard camera side when he finished. He caught one, smelt it, and gave a deep bow before leaving the ring. Regal was giving English a standing ovation as he walked past commentary...

Saxton switched over to a replay of last week’s NXT final segment, with Corey Graves applying the Lucky 13 to Adrian Neville following their match. We cut to an interview with Neville after the assault. Neville was sat on a trainer’s bench, and the interviewer asked how he was feeling. Neville told Graves "well done", and said that if Graves was going after his leg, that meant he was going after his livelihood. "You think this is personal? This is only the beginning"...

Gutt Reaction: Creative really needs to pick a side for English already. The roses were a nice addition, but whereas usually such instances of self-gratitude would be met with boos, the Cult of Full Sail cheered, as the did when English announced he would be performing an encore. I fear without a heel/face leaning, English will only get the ironic cheers and nothing more for the foreseeable future. Neville was his usually monotone self, but as I said last week, his current storyline will aide him with promos, as he only has to sell cold anger towards Graves, which is doable even with such a flat delivery.

As Summer Rae and Sasha Banks made their way to the ring, Regal asked Young what the "scoop" was regarding the Divas. She said that many believed that Rae had brainwashed Banks into becoming a backstage bully. Paige received a decent pop for her entrance...

3. Paige vs. Summer Rae. Young mentioned that Paige dressed up as Lita for Halloween when she was little. I feel the need to mention at this point I am writing this while still sat in most of my CM Punk outfit I threw together at the last minute. Top tip I learned today – wrestling boots can be cobbled together by combining shin pads and long socks with electrical tape. No need to thank me. The action ended up on the outside, where Summer used Banks as a human shield, before shoving her into Paige and slapping her. Back in the ring, Paige started to dominate, throwing Summer into the turnbuckles and the ropes. As Paige went to run the ropes, Banks grabbed her leg. The ref spotted it, and ejected Banks from ringside... [C]

[Q3] Paige was once again throwing Summer into various parts of the ring when we returned. As she charged Summer in the corner, Summer threw her onto the apron and swept her leg, causing Paige to land back first on the apron. Summer started to wear down Paige with various holds, but ended up getting caught in a fisherman’s suplex. Paige built momentum with clotheslines and a dropkick, but ran into a roundhouse kick from Summer. Summer got a two count, and looked to be setting up her finisher, but Paige countered and hit the Paige Turner for the 1-2-3...

Paige defeated Summer Rae in 6:06.

Banks immediately ran back into the ring and attacked Paige from behind following the bell. Emma ran out to even out the numbers. She stomped on Banks in the corner as Paige clapped her on. Paige went to join in, but as she approached, Emma turned around and hit her with a clothesline. Regal quickly pointed out that Emma may have though Paige was Rae. The two girls eyeballed each other...

Backstage, Tyler Breeze still had possession of a few of CJ Parker’s dreadlocks. That’s creepy. He’s like Crispin Glover in Charlie’s Angel when he constantly smells the hair he cut off Drew Barrymore. The interviewer asked for a few words about his match with Parker tonight. He said he intends to send the "derelict" back to the streets where he belongs, before saying he has to leave, as he has to "shoot the Breeze"...

Gutt Reaction: Nothing new from the ladies. Paige vs. Rae may be the most frequent match in NXT history, so finding ways to keep it fresh will be a challenge from here on out. Also, was it too much to ask Breeze to go whole hog with the Zoolander quirks, and say "Derelicte" instead of derelict? If only to set up Parker for the "Why don’t you Derelicte my balls, Breeze" joke later? Oh yes, the obscure film comparisons are out in full force tonight!

A World Tour report aired, this time featuring a video with Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro hyping their run of matches on the tour with Los Matadores. Cesaro was on the phone with Zeb Coulter, who was apparently having trouble with the European Embassy. Cesaro suggested he "sneak across the border", but Coulter said he couldn’t because the Europeans do their jobs properly, unlike Americans. Weird seeing such a light tone from a usually serious team...

A lantern was shown swinging in some woods. Luke Harper appeared in quick cuts saying "Ohno" over and over again. He said he has found a new "plaything" that amuses him, and when he is done with it, he’ll leave it for the buzzards. The video closed by hyping Kassius Ohno vs. Harper for next week, as well as Lefort vs. Rusev...

Breeze, with bafflingly catchy entrance music, made his way to the ring, with Parker’s dreadlocks still in hand. Parker ran to the ring, and went after Breeze, but Breeze dived out of the ring...

4. CJ Parker vs. Tyler Breeze. Breeze rolled inside the ring, but rolled back outside immediately. Parker gave chase, and when they got back in the ring, Breeze begged him not to hit his face. Parker ignored him, and after taking the early advantage with a delayed vertical suplex, exclusively hit Breeze in the face. As Parker span Breeze around with an airplane spin, Regal praised Parker’s new aggressive and serious style. Because when I think serious and aggressive, I think of the airplane spin. As Parker motioned for the "Third Eye" palm strike, Breeze rolled out of the ring...

A Survivor Series promo featuring the Wyatt family aired... [C]

[Q4] A Bella Twins hype video aired, showing them being bitchy, and including a line from Cole saying they were "As nasty as ever". Errrr, did editing not get the memo that they’ve turned face? Lets face it, creative haven’t even got that memo yet...

Parker went to jump on Breeze in the corner, but Breeze dropped to the floor and pulled Parker off the turnbuckle. Breeze had his turn targeting Parker’s face, taking some time out to take a selfie on his phone. Breeze went top rope, only to be thrown off by Parker. He hit several clothesline before landing a sweet axe kick for a two count. Parker slowly picked up Breeze, who managed to gather himself and hit a jawbreaker. It didn’t affect Parker much, as he managed to avoid Breeze’s Beauty Shot spinning heel kick, and hit him with the Third Eye to pick up the win...

CJ Parker defeated Tyler Breeze in 7:46.

After the match, Parker grabbed a large pair of scissors, and looked to cut off some of Breeze’s hair, but Breeze snapped out of it quickly enough to roll out of the ring and run up the ramp. Parker mimed cutting with the scissors as NXT went off the air...

Gutt Reaction: A better match from the two. While not strictly main event calibre in most companies, this was fine for NXT. Parker has for the most part (temporarily at least) thrown off the detrimental aspects of his character when it comes to in ring work, but unfortunately Breeze still relies on it heavily. When he is suitable annoyed enough to not fret about his face or taking picture, we may have a really good NXT match between the two.

A very inconsequential week. While the main event was a step forward in an established feud, everything else was very much "been there, done that". Rusev squashes Amore and Cassady, English sings, and Paige vs. Summer Rae No. 1138. I’d hold off to see what Ohno and Harper have next week, and give this week a rest.
