WWE Main Event on ION
Taped on 10/23 in Providence, RI.

[Q1] The opening video aired, followed by the pyro, and Michael Cole and Miz opened the show in the ring. They hyped the main event and setup the Ryback video, which was basically, if not exactly, the same from Raw. Miz put Ryback over big and said he was unstoppable.

Michael Cole setup the Dolph Ziggler video. Backstage, Matt Striker asked Ryback about people saying he didn't deserve a title shot. Ryback looked intense and said, "Watch what I do to Ziggler. It's feeding time." Josh Matthews asked Dolph Ziggler about his strategy, and Ziggler gave no comment. Matthews tried again and Ziggler told him not now. He tried one more time and Ziggler threw him out. Ryback made his ring entrance…[C]

Shore's Slant: That promo is why I say Ryback isn't ready, but more on that tomorrow. Ziggler's video was good, but it wasn't great like the others on this show have been. I was looking forward to what they did with him and I feel like they didn't give it their full effort.

Ziggler made his ring entrance and took his time getting into the ring. Lilian started the ring introductions before Dolph made it in the ring. Ryback got a "Feed me more" chant going before they got started…

1. Ryback vs. Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler started to step out of the ropes, but Ryback ran over and threw Ziggler across the ring into the turnbuckle. Ziggler rolled to the floor and Ryback followed.

[Q2] Ziggler sneaked in a couple of kicks, but he went for his jumping DDT and Ryback slammed him into the barricade. He rolled Ziggler back in the ring, but Ziggler fled up the ramp and to the back with Ryback in tow…[C]

Back from commercial, Ryback's music hit again, and he walked out with Ziggler on his shoulders. He marched all the way to the ring and then tossed him in the ring. Ryback missed a splash in the corner and Ziggler hit him with everything, only to have Ryback catch him and hit a powerbomb. Ryback followed with the clothesline and Shell Shocked for the win.

Ryback defeated Dolph Ziggler at 9:07.

Post-match, They showed clips of Ryback hitting several of the power moves in the match and each time Cole asked, "Could this be what happens to CM Punk this Sunday?"… The announce team hyped a promo from Paul Heyman for next, and Sin Cara vs. Alberto Del Rio for later…[C]

Shore's Slant: I guess I could complain about Ziggler getting killed here, but he did what he does best: he made Ryback look like a complete stud. They needed Ryback to go a little longer than normal, and Ziggler was the right call. Now we wait until Sunday and see if either of these men leaves with a title.

[Q3] The Raw Rebound video was the AJ/John Cena storyline. The announce team said Cena would address the AJ situation at Hell in a Cell…Another video recapped Ryback's killing of CM Punk on Monday. Cole and Miz both asked the same question, does the way Ryback beat up Ziggler point to what will happen on Sunday. Heyman's answer was the same, CM Punk is in a class above Dolph Ziggler and he would prove once again that he is the best in the world….Sin Cara made his ring entrance…[C]

Alberto Del Rio made his ring entrance…

[Q4] 4. Sin Cara vs. Alberto Del Rio (W/Ricardo Rodriguez). Del Rio attacked at the bell and worked Sin Cara's arm. Cara started a comeback, but Del Rio shoved him over the top rope and Cara fell hard to the floor…[C] Del Rio missed a spear in the corner and Sin Cara started his comeback. Cara went for a top rope senton, but Del Rio got the knees up. He followed with the cross armbreaker for the win.

Alberto Del Rio defeated Sin Cara at 8:38.

Post-match, Del Rio took a mic and asked Orton if he was watching. Del Rio said he was going to expose Orton as a little crying girl. Del Rio said he didn't need to say "millions of dollars" because he had millions of dollars. Ricardo did the Prime Time Players silly dance. He started to say more, but the Players' music cut him off.

Darren Young and Titus O'Neal cut a promo on the way to the ring. They said they had no problems with him, but if that changed, they could have problems with him. Del Rio said he had no business with them because he was in the major leagues, but they should team up and beat up Sin Cara. OK? The Players agreed and they attacked Sin Cara. Randy Orton ran out for the save, and hit RKOs on the Players, but Del Rio escaped. Orton said Mysterio was coming back next week, and booked a six-man tag of Del Rio and the Players vs. Orton, Mysterio, and Sin Cara…

Shore's Slant: Not a great main event for next time, but a decent match to close. These two have worked together a million times in the past, so it's no surprise they looked comfortable together. The first real miss for Main Event, I think. Nothing was bad, but I wasn't very impressed. The first show wasn't great either, but it had the Sheamus vs. CM Punk match to carry it. This didn't have much of anything, but Ryback does look like a killer. Thanks for watching along with me tonight.
