WWE “ECW on Syfy”
Taped earlier tonight in Lexington, Ky

[Q1] Scare Tactics is the lead in show for ECW starring Tracey Morgan. Anyone else think his regular speaking voice is like his character of Brian Fellows from SNL? The opening video aired and fireworks lit up the stage. Josh Matthews and Matt Striker welcomed us to the show...

1. Ezekiel Jackson (with Vladimir Kozlov) defeated Goldust in 5:48. Goldust hit a top rope closeline for an early nearfall. Zeke turned the tides with a huge closeline. He scored a two count after a running knee. He put Goldust in a bearhug and there was a close-up of the Goldust suit...

Twill’s Two Cents: Imagine if Goldust was sleeping with someone’s wife and the husband came home early? He would have a hell of a time getting that thing back on and out the window.

Jackson worked on the back and chest of Goldust. Weird spot with Jackson hitting a high cross body on Goldust in the corner. He fell on him for a two count. Dust fought back and hit a flatliner. He went to the top. Kozlov distracted the referee and Zeke hit a boot. He followed with his finisher for the win...

Twill’s Two Cents: I’m learning that Zeke is not a “long match” type of guy. He’s got a great look and could become a monster heel, but he needs help working a longer match. By the way, the distraction didn’t really cause anything. Zeke countered the move regardless.

After the match, Zeke and Kozlov celebrated. Kozlov then hit his finisher on Goldust to send a message...

Footage was shown of Yoshi Tatsu’s tainted victory over William Regal last week. Regal was pinned with his foot under the bottom rope. That match led to last week’s main event, which set in motion tonight’s tag team main event of Christian and Yoshi vs. Regal and Zack Ryder... [C]

[Q2] Syfy is showing a bunch of the Saw movies. They are going to keep making this shit aren’t they? ...

A commercial for Raw with Snoop Dogg as the guess host and John Cena vs. Triple H aired...

Backstage, Zack Ryder approached William Regal. He said he was more qualified than Regal for an ECW Title shot. He said Regal was not tough without his “goons” around. Of course, Zeke and Kozlov appeared. Regal told Ryder that general manager Tiffany was “very blonde” and was forcing him them to team tonight. He told Ryder to do what he was told and asked if he understood. Ryder replied, “You know it.” ...

Sheamus came out to the ring and cut a very Irish promo. Insert all of your “Lucky Charms” jokes here and now. Sheamus said Shelton Benjamin technically beat him on Superstars last week and showed footage of the match. Sheamus said Shelton came to WWE ten years ago with amazing talent and ability, but did absolutely nothing with it.

Apparently, Sheamus is being paid for every time he says “WWE.” He called Shelton a stepping stone and said there was a lot of extra baggage who didn’t know what they were doing. He said he would eventually find himself at the top of WWE...

Twill’s Two Cents: That reminded me of one of those old 80s style split screen promos. Of course, Sheamus was in the middle of the ring and received an entire segment. It was not good or bad really; it was just really bland.

Paul Burchill and Katie Lea made their way through the backstage area to get ready for Hurricane Helms... [C]

Lauren Mayhew still sounds like a video game announcer. She even pauses when the old CD games would load...

2. Paul Burchill (with Katie Lea) defeated Hurricane Helms in 7:01. They are still pushing the “mystery” of whether or not Hurricane is Gregory Helms. If I shaved my head, grew a goatee, and had a dream job, you could call me Jason Powell. Good thing there is a picture of me up on the site so everyone knows we are two different people.

[Q3] Burchill tried to ground the high flier by working on his… arm. Effective, but odd offense. I wish Paul and Katie were part of Regal’s group. Hurricane fought back and scored a nearfall after a hurricarana from the middle rope.

From the top, Burchill tried a superplex but Helms threw him off. He hit a high cross body for a two count. Paul went right back to the arm and shoulder. Hurricane tried a top rope hurricarana but Burchill stayed still as Helms fell to the mat. Paul hit a jackhammer for the win...

Twill’s Two Cents: Wow; that missed hurricarana spot could be potentially dangerous. That was a pretty lackluster match, to be honest. The crowd is pretty dead, so that might have a lot to do with it.

A graphic for tonight’s tag team main event was shown... [C]

A very long John Cena vs. Randy Orton video aired. Matthews and Striker plugged this and other matches for the Bragging Rights pay-per-view...

Backstage, Yoshi was doing squats. Christian approached him and tried to verbally get his attention. Yoshi apparently doesn’t understood English, and he is blind and deaf. He said something in Japanese. Christian said, “That’s what she said.” They did their “thank you” and bow act... [C]

Twill’s Two Cents: Yoshi and Christian have nice and entertaining chemistry. I am hungry; will someone please order me a pizza and send it to my place?

[Q4] A commercial for WrestleMania tickets aired. Twilling will be in attendance this year and I am looking for a date...

3. Christian and Yoshi Tatsu defeated William Regal and Zack Ryder in 14:17. Striker put over the new Smackdown vs. Raw video game. Everyone made their entrance and like always, the crowd was hot for Christian. He has kick ass theme music too. He is sporting newly bleached (or re-bleached) hair. Twilling cannot do anything drastic right now because he will be in a wedding soon...

Yoshi and Ryder started the match and Yoshi impressed with deep armdrags (by the way, every time someone does an armdrag, am I as a journalist required to say “Ricky Steamboat-like armdrags?”). Christian tagged in and Ryder was on the offensive. Christian came back and threw Ryder to the floor. Regal checked on him. Christian hit a baseball slide dropkick and springboard high cross body on both men... [C]

Again, Snoop Dogg is hosting Raw next week. I’m cool with that; Snoop cracks me up and his music is amazing. Back from commercial, Regal and Christian were in the ring together. Yoshi tagged in and the heel team worked together as Yoshi took a prolonged beating.

[Overrun] Just ordered my pizza. Wish I would have thought of that 32-34 minutes ago. Ryder kicked Yoshi in the face and the referee bitched really loudly. Christian and Ryder traded nearfalls. On the floor, Regal threw Yoshi into the steps. For some reason, Regal and Ryder argued when Regal tagged in. Ryder closelined Regal on the top rope and Christian hit the worst Killswitch ever for the win...

Twill’s Two Cents: Fun tag team main event. None of the four did a whole lot to stand out, but that is the ECW show for you. It was solid and it was fun, but nobody will remember it on Monday or Friday night. Although he is growing on me, I just don’t see Yoshi starring on any other brand.
