WWE Money in the Bank
Aired live on pay-per-view
Philadelphia, Pa. at Wells Fargo Center

Pre Show

Josh Mathews, Big Show, Kofi Kingston, and Vickie Guerrero served as the panel and set up the show. They quickly moved into the WWE Tag Title match...

Powell's POV: The pre-show is actually being shown on television for a change. Well, at least it is on DirecTV. For those of you who have put up with my maniacal rants during past pre-shows, you know this is welcome news.

Michael Cole, JBL, and Jerry Lawler checked in from the commentary table...

1. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns vs. The Uso Brothers for the WWE Tag Team Championship. The Uso's jumped out to the fast start and got the better of Rollins and Reigns by using fast tags. There was a clunky spot where Rollins was supposed to trip Reigns and drag him to ringside to avoid an Uso move, but it looked like Rollins was late arriving. They cut to the one-minute ad for the pay-per-view. [C]

Powell's POV: I still don't understand what purpose the commercial break serves. The Kickoff Show is an informercial for the pay-per-view, so it's like airing a commercial within a commercial.

After the break, the Uso's worked over Rollins in their corner. The Shield members finally took control and worked over one of the brothers in their corner. An RVD chant broke out in the crowd. Reigns checked in and missed a corner splash, so he quickly tagged in Rollins. Jey Uso got the better of Rollins, but Reigns made a blind tag into the match.

Rollins went to the corner of the Uso Brothers and pulled Jimmy off the ring apron as Jey was going for a tag. Rollins followed up with a clothesline on Jey. Reigns was getting the better of Jey when they went to another commercial. [C]

Powell's POV: This commercial spot hyped a WWE Studios DVD release and Money in the Bank.

After the break, the momentum shifted to the Uso Brothers. Jimmy got a couple of two counts on Rollins and the crowd was finally getting into the match. Rollins tripped up Jimmy on the ropes and then set up for a superplex, but Jey slipped in underneath them, then Reigns slipped in under all of them for the big tower of doom spot, which got a big reaction from the crowd.

At 13:20, Rollins went for a tag in his corner, but the illegal Uso pulled Reigns from the ring apron. Rollins ended up taking a big kick. JBL said we were going to have new champions, meaning we would not. Sure enough, one of the Uso's hit a cross body block and covered Rollins, but Reigns ran in and broke it up at the last moment.

Reigns threw a big punch at Jey Uso on the ring apron. A "this is awesome" chant broke out. Jimmy picked up Rollins on his shoulder and brought him to the second rope, but Rollins slipped out and had him in powerbomb position. Reigns punched Jimmy and Rollins performed a buckle bomb. Reigns had tagged himself in and hit the big spear and got the pin for his team. Dean Ambrose came out and celebrated with Rollins and Reigns...

Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns defeated The Uso Brothers to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship in 14:50.

Powell's POV: I was frustrated early on because the pace was slow and the action was so forgettable, but the action really picked up after the second commercial break. I would have liked to have seen that good pace a little longer, but the good action down the stretch left me feeling like they could do more with the Uso Brothers.

Mathews, Show, Kingston, and Vickie put over the tag title match. Mathews shifted the focus to the John Cena vs. Mark Henry match. Show said he thinks it's Henry's night. Kingston said he agrees with what Show said, but he can't bet against Cena. Vickie said she doesn't see eye to eye with Cena, so she is picking Henry to win. Show said Philly will be tough on Cena, but they won't be tough on RVD. Show even did the thumb point routine... An RVD video aired...

Powell's POV: Show and Vickie aren't coming across like heels. Show is in nice guy mode, and Vickie is smiling as much as Kofi is.

Mathews brought up the All-Stars version of the Money in the Bank match. Kingston selected Daniel Bryan to win. He said he's never seen anyone go in with so much momentum. Show picked RVD...

At ringside, Cole, JBL, and Lawler noted that Ambrose was still standing in the ring staring at the MITB briefcase hanging above the ring. Cole said the MITB match for the World Hvt. Championship would kick off the show. Fandango and Summer Rae made their entrance and the crowd hummed along with Fandango's entrance music to close out the pre-show...

Powell's POV: Solid pre-show hype, and good action down the stretch for the Kickoff match. I could do without the commercials within the match, but at least they pre-show is now available on the pay-per-view channel.

WWE Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View

A Money in the Bank video opened the show... A pyro display erupted in the building... Cole said there were 18,147 fans in attendance...

Lilian Garcia introduced the World Hvt. Championship version of the Money in the Bank match. Fandango and Dean Ambrose were already in the ring from the pre-show. Colter cut a promo as he led Swagger and Colter to the ring. He vented about what the founding fathers would think if they walked down the street today.

Colter said Betsy Ross should have put a taco or a burrito on the flag instead of stars and stripes. He said it's a night of redemption because will claim the contract. He asked the crowd to say "We The People" along with him and a lot of fans did. Sandow and Rhodes came out together. Sandow cut a promo that was interrupted by Barrett's music...

1. Dean Ambrose vs. Wade Barrett vs. Fandango (w/Summer Rae) vs. Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter) vs. Antonio Cesaro (w/Zeb Colter) vs. Damien Sandow vs. Cody Rhodes in a Money in the Bank match for a shot at the World Hvt. Championship. A "We The People" chant broke out. The two teams ended up targeting the singles wrestlers by running ladders into them. Then they met in the ring with ladders. Swagger and Cesaro got the better of it.

There was a cool spot at 2:40 where Barrett had Ambrose under the ladder and threw knees at his head. He picked up the ladder and slammed it into Swagger and Cesaro, but then Fandango kicked the ladder and leapt over the top rope and dropped down on the ladder with a leg drop.

Sandow received the next moment to shine as he caught Fandango climbing the ladder and slammed him into it. Moments later, Barrett pulled a rung of a ladder off and slammed it over Sandow repeatedly. Barrett climbed the ladder and was met by Ambrose. Swagger pulled Barrett off the ladder and into Cesaro's uppercut. They tried the same thing on Ambrose, but he countered with a DDT on Swagger.

Cesaro and Ambrose battled on the ladder. Cesaro got the better of it and was near the briefcase, but Rhodes recovered and ended up cradle suplexing him into another ladder that was resting in the corner. The fans chanted "Cody's Mustache."

At 8:10, Swagger and Barrett fought on the ladder. Swagger knocked Barrett down, but Barrett recovered and blasted Swagger with the Bull Hammer. Barrett reached for the briefcase, but Fandango climbed up and fought him. Fandango ended up performing a sunset flip powerbomb on Barrett off the ladder at 9:10. Summer screamed encouragement from ringside.

At 10:30, Amborse pulled a page out of the Terry Funk playbook by putting the ladder around his head and swinging it around into his opponents. He ended up being picked up by Swagger and Cesaro on each side of the ladder. He positioned himself on top of the ladder in an attempt to grab the briefcase, but they tossed him to ringside.

Swagger had Cesaro climb onto his shoulders and positioned him underneath the briefcase. Cody dropkicked Cesaro, who was standing on Swagger's shoulders. Barrett went after Cody, who caught him with CrossRhodes. Cody looked up at the briefcase and went to ringside to retrieve a ladder. Cody grabbed one of the bigger ladders and slid it inside the ring at 13:15.

Cody climbed the ladder, but Ambrose met him on the other side and traded punches. Ambrose caught Cody with head butts and Rhodes ended up bleeding. Cody ended up knocking Ambrose off the ladder. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns ran out and knocked Rhodes off the ladder. Rollins kicked Barrett, then Reigns speared Fandango.

The Shield members set up the ladder for Ambrose, but the Uso Brothers and out to fight off the tag champions. Cesaro and Swagger joined in the tag team brawl. Ambrose climbed to the top of the ladder, but Rhodes pushed the ladder over and Ambrose crashed onto everyone at ringside. "It's Cody's time!" Cole yelled.

Cody set up the ladder and climbed, but Sandow climbed up behind him and pushed him off the ladder. Sandow reached up and pulled off the briefcase to win the match. JBL said he would have shoved Ron Simmons off the ladder if he had to. Damn! The trainer checked on the cut above Cody's eye as Sandow celebrated with the briefcase...

Damien Sandow won the Money in the Bank match to earn a shot at the World Hvt. Championship in 16:25.

Powell's POV: Excellent action from bell to bell. It felt a little choreographed early with five guys at ringside while two guys were spotlighted in the ring, but that became more believable as the match went on and the spots were bigger. I loved the finish. Cole did a great job of making it seem like this was Cody's night. I was hopeful that this was Barrett's night, but I have no complaints about Sandow getting the nod. I assume this means Cody is turning babyface. By the way, JBL was laying it on really thick after the match about what a great champion Sandow will make to the point that it left me wondering if they have him pegged to cash in unsuccessfully.

A Don't Try This At Home video aired, which is fine because I don't have that many ladders in my garage... The announcers spoke at ringside...

Justin Roberts introduced new Raw general manager Brad Maddox. He thanked Vince McMahon, then said he doesn't think he can fill the shoes of Vickie Guerrero, because he doesn't look good in heels. He pointed out Vickie and said he added her to the pre-show panel. She uncomfortably waved. Maddox thanked her for "accepting this secondary position just days after being released."

Maddox asked the fans to chant "Thank you, Vickie" along with him. A small "you got fired" chant broke out, but most fans sat silently. Maddox said the Philly fans were great despite their reputation for being rude and crude and disrespectful to the athletes who give their all for the city. Maddox pointed to the big screen for a Vickie Guerrero tribute video that included some of her most embarrassing moments.

Vickie was pissed. Maddox told her she was great. Maddox asked the fans to give her a standing ovation. Some did, some booed, most sat. The Miz's music played to end the misery...

Powell's POV: Ugh. Why didn't they save this for a filler segment on Raw? I've never been so happy to hear Miz's music.

2. Curtis Axel (w/Paul Heyman) vs. The Miz for the Intercontinental Title. Heyman received some ECW chants after the bell rang to start the match. He acknowledged them by cracking a beer and slamming a kendo stick over his head. Actually, he just stood there and no-sold the chants as one would expect him to do.

Cole noted that Axel was on a losing streak (like every other recent IC Champion). At 2:10, Miz slapped his hands together, laid down, and held his jaw. He then pointed at Heyman once the referee turned around. The referee clearly never watched Eddie Guerrero's matches, as he ended up ejecting Heyman from ringside. The fans responded with a loud "We Want Heyman."

At 6:30, Axel went for the Perfect Plex, but Miz avoided it and went for the Figure Four, but Axel kicked him off. Axel came right back with the Perfect Plex for a two count. Miz came back at 7:35 with the Figure Four. Axel did a good job of teasing a tap out before rolling it over to put the pressure on Miz.

Miz rolled back over to put the pressure back onto Axel, who reached the ropes to break it. Axel sold a knee injury at ringside. Miz went after him and Axel limped away and slid back insdie the ring. Axel caught Miz with a kick, then kicked the ropes into Miz, and used his finisher to get the win...

Curtis Axel beat The Miz to retain the Intercontinental Title in 9:15.

Powell's POV: I enjoyed the reversal of the Figure Four. The overall match was decent, yet still forgettable.

A SummerSlam video focussed on the WWE talent now and when they were younger...

3. A.J. Lee (w/Big E Langston) vs. Kaitlyn (w/Layla) for the WWE Divas Championship. Kaitlyn slammed A.J. onto her knee a tad awkwardly during the opening minute. They went to ringside and A.J. ended up running her into the post. Kaitlyn came up selling a left elbow injury.

At 4:20, Kaitlyn hit a reverse DDT for a two count. Lee came back with a slap, and Kaitlyn clotheslined her to the mat. A.J. continued to work on the elbow by wrenching Kaitlyn's arm into her own knees. A.J. went to the top rope. Kaitlyn shoved her off, but Langston caught her. Kailtyn went after Lee, but Langston put her back inside the ring.

A.J. caught Kaitlyn in a small package for a two count. Kaitlyn came back with the spear, but she was unable to follow up due to her elbow injury. Lee recovered and applied the Black Widow. Kaitlyn eventually tapped out. A.J. blew Kaitlyn a kiss after the match...

A.J. Lee defeated Kaitlyn in 7:00 to retain the WWE Divas Championship.

Powell's POV: Decent by modern day Divas standards. I like the way they focussed on the elbow injury, though it did make the finish seem a little predictable.

A Total Divas commercial aired... The panel spoke about Sandow capturing the Money in the Bank contract, and Axel retaining the Intercontinental Title...

4. Chris Jericho vs. Ryback. Remember when the Philly fans were innovative? Yeah, this bunch gave the same Goldberg chants for Ryback that everyone else does. At 2:00, Jericho jumped off the ropes and caught Ryback with a forearm to the back of the neck. Cool move. Ryback came back with the Meathook Clothesline.

Jericho worked over the back of Ryback's leg. He went for a springboard move, but Ryback caught him on the way down and clotheslined him on the ropes. Cole questioned whether Ryback suckered Jericho in by playing up the leg injury. Later, Ryback knocked Jericho off the ring apron. Jericho landed between the two commentator tables.

At 7:20, Jericho went for a move off the top rope, but Ryback caught him and performed a cool overhead suplex. Ryback followed up with the Meathook Clothesline and said, "Finish It." Ryback set up for his finisher, but Jericho elbowed his way out. Jericho went for the Codebreaker, but Ryback slammed him down. Ryback picked up Jericho in position for the powerbomb. Cool spot.

At 8:50, Jericho caught Ryback with a kick to his leg and followed up with a kick to the head. Moments later, Jericho caught Ryback with a Codebreaker. Ryback fell to ringside. The referee counted Ryback, who got back inside the ring at nine. Jericho performed a nice cross body block at 10:10.

Ryback pressed Jericho over his head and set him up for his finisher again, but this time Jericho countered into a DDT for a good near fall. Jericho yelled to the quiet crowd and then threw a series of punches at Ryback. Jericho went for the Lionsault. Ryback rolled out of the way and Jericho landed on his feet. Ryback rolled up Jericho and pinned him...

Ryback defeated Chris Jericho in 11:20.

Powell's POV: The back and forth action was fun to watch, but the live crowd never got into it. I don't think creative did them any favors by not focussing on the match enough in the weeks leading up to this show. Too bad. I hope Jericho has more scheduled before he heads out for the Fozzy tour because that was kind of a flat sendoff match.

A video recapped the opening of the WWE Performance Center... Cole set up a video for the World Hvt. Championship match...

5. Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler for the World Hvt. Championship. There was a loud "Let's Go Ziggler" chant. Ziggler showed off and played it up during the opening minute, then Del Rio went on the offensive. Del Rio targeted Ziggler's head with kicks. Ziggler came back with a crazy facebuster off the top rope. Del Rio regained control and remained aggressive.

At 9:20, Del Rio missed a big kick attempt in the corner. Dolph followed up with a Fameasser for a good near fall that the live crowd bought into. Del Rio once again came back strong with a tilt-a-whirl slam for a two count. Del Rio went to the top rope and jumped into a dropkick from Ziggler, who scored another good near fall.

At 10:50, A.J. Lee's music played and she skipped around ringside with the Divas Championship belt. Once Lee stopped, Dolph asked her what she was doing. "I've got this," Ziggler said. Del Rio went for the tilt-a-whirl slam again, but Ziggler countered with a DDT for another two count.

Ziggler went to the ropes and Del Rio cut him off. The announcers blamed A.J. because Ziggler was momentarily distracted by her. Del Rio grabbed Ziggler on the ropes and performed a reverse suplex for another good two count. A loud "Let's Go Ziggler" chant broke out. Del Rio stood up and signalled for his finisher. Ziggler avoided it, but ended up being thrown into the air and crashing down. Del Rio caught a kneeling Ziggler with a super kick and got another two count at 13:50.

Del Rio got down on his knees and sold the frustration of not being able to put Ziggler away. A "USA" chant broke out. Yes, really. Del Rio went for another superkick on a kneeling Ziggler, who avoided the move. Lee got in the ring as Ziggler shot Del Rio toward her. Lee struck Del Rio with the the Divas Championship for the DQ, as Ziggler was waiting for him to bounce back so he could hit his finisher.

Ziggler wasn't happy about Lee getting involved and getting him DQ'd. A "You screwed Ziggler" chant broke out as A.J. was watching Ziggler walk backstage...

Alberto Del Rio defeated Dolph Ziggler by DQ to retain the World Hvt. Championship in 14:30.

Powell's POV: It wasn't the most crowd pleasing finish, but it was the right finish from a storyline standpoint. Lee outright turning on Dolph would have made him look like a chump. He should be the one who ultimately dumps her. I just hope he dumps her on Raw and isn't portrayed as gullible by giving her another chance only to meet the same fate. The actual match was highly entertaining and it's amazing the live crowd was so hot for Ziggler. Just imagine how hot they would have been for him if his first month as a babyface hadn't been so poor.

A WWE and the U.S. Military video aired... Lilian Garcia thanked the U.S. Military as members were shown in the crowd. A USA chant broke out... A Mark Henry video was shown...

Powell's POV: I'm disappointed to see this match go on before the All Stars version of the Money in the Bank match only because it takes away the drama of the MITB winner cashing in after this match. Of course, this is pro wrestling, so they can always find a way to surprise everyone if they still want the winner to cash in successfully tonight. It is comical that many of us complain when certain Cena matches headline shows, yet we are now complaining because one of his matches isn't in the main event slot.

6. John Cena vs. Mark Henry for the WWE Championship. Huge cheers for Henry during his entrance, and mostly boos for Cena during his entrance. Henry was the aggressor for the first five minutes and the live crowd loved it. There were "Let's Go Henry" and "Henry, Henry, Henry" chants. Henry shut down all of Cena's offensive attempts and even performed a Giant Swing at one point.

Lawler said it looked like Cena was off his game. Cole said it looked like Henry got into his head. The Cena fans came to life around 7:20 and had a dueling chant with the Henry fans. Cena caught Henry with a kick to the side of his leg and then got hte better of a punching exchange. Cena knocked Henry off his feet with his second shoulder block attempt.

At 8:15, Cena performed a side suplex and then did the You Can't See Me bit. Cena performed the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Cena picked up Henry for the Attitude Adjustment, but he collapsed under Henry's weight. Henry covered him for two at 9:00. Henry looked down at Cena and said, "Get your ass up, boy."

Henry hoisted up Cena, but Cena slipped out and DDT'd Henry. He went for the Attitude Adjustment a second time and performed the move. However, Henry kicked out of Cena's finisher. "Now what does Cena do?" Cole asked. Cena went to the top rope and dove, but Henry caught him and delivered the World's Strongest Slam. It was Cena's turn to kick out at the last moment. Henry sold it by showing frustration.

Henry pulled the turnbuckle pad away in one of the corners. He went to ringside and grabbed two chairs. The referee warned Henry, who dropped the chairs. Henry ripped off the second turnbuckle pad in another corner. The referee tried to tie the pad on again, and Cena ended up shoving Henry into the other exposed turnbuckle. Cena applied the STF, but Henry reached the ropes to break the hold.

Cena went at Henry in the corner and Henry pushed Cena and the referee over. Henry low-blowed Cena and covered him. Referee Scott Armstrong didn't see the low blow and counted, but Cena kicked out at two. Henry scooped up Cean for his finisher, but Cena slipped away and applied the STF again at 14:30. Henry pulled toward the corner, but Cena pulled him back to the middle. Henry tapped out.

John Cena defeated Mark Henry by submission to retain the WWE Championship in 14:45.

Powell's POV: A very good match. You have to wonder whether all the speculation of Henry retiring soon will turn out to be accurate considering how decisive that finish was. Either way, the match held the live crowd's interest from start to finish and they really bought into several of the strong near falls.

A commercial for Dead Man Down on DVD aired... The announcers spoke about the match at ringside... The panel spoke about Cena beating Henry. Show, who picked Henry to win, explained why he thought Henry would win, then gave credit to Cena for finding a way to win. Kingston acted amazed that Cena was able to kick out of the World's Strongest Slam. Show said that the winner of the MITB match will have an excellent opportunity to cash in on Monday because Cena will be in a lot of pain following that match...

At ringside, Cole said they know that only six stars will be involved in the MITB match because of Kane's injury. They set up a video that recapped The Wyatt Family debuting and attacking Kane...

Justin Roberts handled the ring introductions for the MITB All-Stars match. RVD was introduced first and received a monster reaction. Cool moment. RVD high-fived Roberts after his introduction. Christian was out next. Daniel Bryan came out next and led loud "Yes!" chants. Randy Orton came out to a good initial pop, but the fans quieted down as he walked to the ring. Sheamus entered to some cheers and boos. C.M. Punk was out last to a good reaction. RVD obviously got the biggest reaction of the bunch...

7. Rob Van Dam vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton vs. C.M. Punk vs. Sheamus vs. Christian in a Money in the Bank ladder match for a shot at the WWE Championship. The bell rang to start the match with only six entrants, as Cole breezed over. The crowd broke into an RVD chant. He tried to do the thumb point routine and was immediately attacked by everyone else. Funny.

The participants were whittled down to Punk and Bryan. RVD tried to get involved and was quickly knocked back to the floor. Bryan and Punk had an exchange. Sheamus entered the ring with a ladder and slammed it into both of them. Christian leapt off the top rope and Sheamus struck him with the ladder. Orton dropkicked the ladder into Sheamus.

RVD returned to the match and had his first big flurry, which led to another big ovation from the crowd. He stood in the middle of the ring and did the thumb pointing routine. The fans chanted "You've still got it" briefly. RVD hoisted up Christian and dropped him on the ladder. RVD came back with Rolling Thunder onto Bryan, who was lying on the ladder.

Orton got involved and ended up being knocked onto the ladder. RVD went to the top rope and set up for his finisher, but Christian used a ladder to knock him down. Christian brought a small ladder inside the ring and struck Orton with it. The announcers questioned whether he got the ladder from Hornswoggle. Christian set up a bigger ladder and got a hand on the briefcase, but Sheamus knocked him down at 6:00.

Sheamus and Christian battled over control of a ladder in the corner until Sheamus reached through the ladder and caught Christian with a punch. Sheamus set up a ladder in the middle of the ring and climbed up to briefcase level. RVD reentered the ring and shoved the ladder over. Sheamus took a bad bump onto the ladder as it fell. Referees rushed in to check on Sheamus, who got up and kept going.

At 8:45, Sheamus set up a ladder over the ring and announcers' table. He wanted to perform a move on Bryan, but Bryan avoided it and ended up double catching Sheamus on the floor with a running knee off the ring apron.

Punk, Orton, and eventually Christian fought inside the ring at 10:00. Bryan entered the picture with a second ladder that he set up next to the first in the middle of the ring. All six men ended up throwing punches at the top of the ladders, but Punk swung the briefcase out of the way. They all just sort of fell off the ladders at the same time in an odd moment.

Sheamus had a big flurry of offense on several men that was greeted by some boos and a lot of silence. In his defense, the crowd was a bit deflated after the double ladder spot. Sheamus set up a ladder and was about to climb when he spotted RVD coming his way. Sheamus stopped and slammed the side of the ladder into RVD's head. It made a sick thud and left a gash on the side of RVD's head.

Powell's POV: Wait, so chairs are fineable due to head trauma concerns, but ladder shots to the head are cool?

Sheamus and Bryan fought on top of the ladder, where Sheamus delivered the ten forearms. Sheamus got the better of the exchange and went for the ladder. Punk ran in to stop him and Sheamus hung from the wire for a moment before falling to the mat without the briefcase.

Punk had a run on offense and rode a ladder onto Sheamus. Orton caught Punk with a big suplex onto a ladder in the corner, then hit him with the hanging DDT off the second rope. Orton, who had a small gash on his nose, waited a bit and then ate a spear from Christian.

Christian climbed the ladder only to have RVD shove a ladder up his ass (well, close to it). The crowd chanted for tables as RVD and Christian fought inside the ring. Lawler said it's a ladder match, not a tables and ladders match. Christian got the better of the exchange and slowly climbed the ladder while RVD appeared to be putting a stray contact back in his eye.

RVD recovered and put Christian down, then went to the top of the tallest ladder, did the RVD thumb point, and performed the Five Star Frogsplash on Christian. RVD climbed the ladder and got a hand on the briefcase, but Sheamus came in and stopped him. RVD knocked Sheamus off the ladder with punches, but Sheamus pushed the ladder over and RVD clotheslined himself on the top rope.

At 20:15, Bryan caught Sheamus and RVD with kicks as the crowd chanted Yes! Bryan placed a ladder in front of Orton in the corner and dropkicked it. Bryan got a running start for a crazy suicide dive onto Punk at ringside. He went to the top rope and performed a double missile dropkick on RVD and Christian.

Bryan used a ladder on everyone in the ring and even knocked Sheamus off the top rope and onto a ladder at ringside. Sheamus landed awkwardly and held his arm as the referees checked on him. Bryan climbed the ladder and appeared to be on the verge of winning when Curtis Axel ran out and stopped him. Axel took Bryan to ringside and performed his finisher.

Punk grabbed Axel at ringside and put him down with the GTS at 22:45. Paul Heyman walked to ringside and yelled at the fallen Axel. "That's my best friend in the world," Heyman yelled. He questioned why he would screw it up for Punk and said he wanted nothing to do with him while Axel sold the GTS.

Heyman slammed his hands on the mat and led the crowd in a C.M. Punk chant as Punk slowly set up the ladder and struggled to climb it. Punk reached back and clutched at his neck while climbing the ladder. Heyman yelled for him to go and even climbed inside the ring while shouting encouragement. Heyman grabbed a second ladder and slammed it into Punk's back twice. Punk looked up at Heyman, who looked down at Punk before slamming the ladder into Punk's head. Punk came up a bloody mess.

RVD entered the ring at 25:40 and climbed the laddder. Orton entered from behind, pulled him off the ladder, and RKO'd him on the way down. Orton positioned the ladder underneath the briefcase and climbed to the top, then stopped and looked around and noticed that no one else was nearby...

Randy Orton won the Money in the Bank match to earn a shot at the WWE Championship in 26:40.

Powell's POV: Wow, that was one of the most brutal WWE matches in a long time. Punk suffered a nasty cut, RVD suffered one earlier, and there were some insane bumps. Some fans will love it, but it went too far for my taste and WWE will be lucky if everyone comes out of this healthy. WWE really needs to reconsider all of the shots to the head we saw tonight. Undisclosed fines for chair shots to the head seems like nothing more than a P.R. move when you see all of the ladder shots to the head on this show.

I'm cool with Orton winning and I am curious to see whether he plays up the Viper part of his gimmick by going for the opportunistic cash-in or if he will outright challenge Cena for a big match at SummerSlam. After all, it looks like Cena could use a new dance partner after he made Henry tap tonight.

The overall pay-per-view lived up to the high expectations I had going in. There was real drama in both of the MITB matches and in both World Title matches. I didn't care for the Punk and Heyman drama in the main event. It will look good in the video packages on television, but it took away from the match.

I will have more to say about the this show in the Dot Net Member exclusive audio review with Chris Shore later tonight. Thanks for watching along with me. Check back on Tuesday for the WWE MITB Hit List, Will Pruett's Pause, Ryan Kester's Rundown, and Jeff Lutz's Monday blog.
